Portsmouth 0 West Ham 0 ; Benjani Misses last minute Penalty!

Benjani missed a last-minute penalty as Portsmouth failed to take advantage of the chance to climb in to the top four after being held to a 0-0 home draw by West Ham United.

West Ham had the best two chances Game at Fratton Park, but  Solano twice missed simple headers with the goal gaping.

And Portsmouth had the chance to undeservedly take all three points when Danny Gabbidon was adjudged to have handled just inside the penalty area in stoppage time.

But Hammers keeper Robert green guessed correctly to keep out Benjani’s weak spot-kick and earn his side a point & again must be showing McClaren, he deserves a place in the England squad.

Carlton Cole played an excellent game, and continuously proves his worth in 1st team football, had it not been for Green’s penalty save, Cole would have been my MOTM.

A great game, even without goals, and a very valuable point for the Hammers.

If the penalty ad gone in it would have been a travesty. We absolutely deserved our point.
Green is rapidly becoming the best English keeper in the EPL and, on current form, probably in the top 3 keepers in the league whatever their Nationality!
Cole works extremely hard for the team and has put in some decent performances to date this season. I prefer him to Marlene because of his workrate. However, they both share the same basic fault for me - they will never make proper strikers at this level for as long as they’ve got holes in their rears.

lol, i actually do believe Cole will get better & better the more games he gets, he has the enthusiasm we need in the team and the heart to win. A few moves cole made in the Portsmouth game, impressed me. I have hope for him and his future with us.

Benjani has been doing well lately. Am one of his greatest fans here at home( Zimbabwe) but dont know why he decided to take the penalty. He has similarly disappointend us here at home by missing critical penalties. I guess he just has to learn from his mistakes and stop taking penalties unless the worse comes to the worst. It was however really harsh for Redknapp to utter words like, “you are a silly boy” to Benjani. He has certainly done great for Pompey and there is need to acknowledge that in football such blunders happen. He needs to be given some respect.

Benjani is greatly admired in the EPL, and always a worry to opposing teams, and yes, you are right about what Harry said to him, If he had of scored he would have been a hero. and Harry would have said different.

Benji should not take penalties,i knew that he would miss b4 he even tucked his shirt to take the penalty. But i must say the boy is playing well and “you are a silly boy” is not something that i’d expect to hear from his coach…Redknapp “you are a silly coach”

lol, I think Redknapp is one of these old eastend guys that speaks before he thinks, But anyway, it must have worked coz Benjani had a cracker of a game against the toons.
