Get Lost Arsenal! Green is Staying at West Ham

Arsene Wenger has been a long-term admirer of Green, who kept clean sheets home and away against the Gunners in last season’s Premier League meetings.

According to Express, Wenger would be happy to bring green to the Emirates Stadium if he can sign him for around £7million which is £1m up on his last offer.

Spanish shot-stopper Manuel Almunia has conceded 16 goals in 23 appearances for Arsenal since replacing Jens Lehmann towards the end of August, which is with Liverpool, the worst goal conceding record with the big 4.

The Hammers have Richard Wright as back-up, yet would be loathe to sell Green, who they recruited from Norwich for £2million in summer 2006. But the 27-year-old would be keen to move in order to boost his England chances, having won just one cap for his country - as a half-time substitute in the 3-2 win over Colombia in New Jersey in May 2005.

Green has been the backbone for the Hammers, and often, producing quality goalkeeping skills. To lose Green would be devastating for the Hammers, and would prove virtualy impossible to replace, as he gives his defensive colleagues a great deal of confidence. It would be a fantastic turnaround for the Hammers, if for once a quality player like Greeny decided his best choice would be to stay at Upton Park. He has virtually guaranteed his position as Englands first choice keeper, i cant see why he needs to join the Gooners to cement a place in Englands Goal, but i dare say the Gooner fans would say otherwise.

How has he “guaranteed his position as Englands first choice keeper”? He hasn’t been in the squad for 2 years!

He’s also quoted last season as saying that he’s not too fussed about it any more, so I’m not sure that’s too big a consideration for him. Champions league would probably have some pull though.

  2. Franny Says:

We’ll throw Lehmann into the deal if it makes you feel better?

i would be suprised for two reasons.
1st he is top english keeper which means nothing and secondly he is english which would make him expensive,
we run our club to make a profit not a rich mans toy
ie. double wages for a washed up freddie.
henry’s wages for a average full back and so on.who’d want to leave a place like yours when nobody else will pay the money.

  5. Daddybayor Says:

Would you prefer that Tottingham Hotspuds buy him instead then?

Thanks from the bottom of my heart for rubbishing this rumour. As an Arsenal fan I have been so depressed since reading about it this morning that I was quite suicidal.
With respect and good luck to West Ham(for whom I have always had a soft spot because of their footballing traditions)Green is an absolute disaster and would not install confidence in my sons under 17 team.I believe that Almunia is a disaster waiting to happen for Arsenal but believe me the disaster would come almost immediately if Green was in goal.
If there is any truth at all in the rumour, then it just confirms to me that Wenger is not much good in assessing defenders and goalkeepers.
Good luck to you for the rest of the season and may Green stay with you for many years(please, please, please).

  8. The Rooster Says:

daddyBayor: No i wouldnt prefer him to go to Spurs!!

Denilsondad: please take Ljungberg back? to be honest, he showed a bit of his old Arenal form against City

Brian: Take some Valium or a bottle of whisky in the morning bruv,

And i hope the Gooners slaughter the Spuds. Is it tonight? 5-0 yer

  9. Pedro Says:

You can keep him! He’s dropped some clangers this season!

No one would be talking about Almunia for England if he was that good.

Brian, your the type of cunt who gives Gooners a bad name… Jeez, coming on a West ham blog moaning about Almunia is unbelievable…

Well said Rooster… but we don’t want Freddie back. I heard he was on £40k at Arsenal now he’s on 90k… bad deal.

Lets hope we smash the spuds tonight, for the good of everyone.

    Amusing fact…

    SPUDS in medical terms is:

    Special*People*Under*Doctors*Supervision

    Fitting really?

  10. Hobart Says:

Wenger had Green on trial before he went to W Ham. Said he was too young and still had errors in his game. Maybe now he has got a bit more experience Wenger might be interested.

I doubt it though. Next years No1 at Arsenal will be Fabianski.

  11. Wayne King Says:

Green is the nuts, if hes loyal he wont leave West Ham.

Am i the only one getting bored of hearing Newcastle spending like they got bottomless pockets?? Bored of Newcastle, Bored of spurs.. yu guys are where you belong.. in the bottom half the league.

  12. sue Says:

Listen if the money was good enough he’d go and if Wenger wanted him he’d get him
