Is Curbs -Englands Greatest Manager?
No other manager in England could deal with what Alan Curbishley has had to deal with, Injuries galore to his best players, a very close freind (eggert) leaving the boardroom, Fans shouting, “you dont know what your doing,” & managing to keep a crocked team in 10th place, and having ambitions to play Europe next season. WTF hasnt Curbs been handed Manager of the month.?
We played man City today like they was Fulham, again we should have won, but it wasnt to be.
So is Curbs, the best.?

I think curbs has done a remarkable job considering what the club has been thru.I still think with Ashton injured again and Bellamy and Zamora not quite ready yet we are lacking more finishing up front.Despite all that the hammers played well today and deserved to win it,but the linesman had a blindfold on and gave man city an undeserved goal
just watched man city game, curbs a great manager, you’d have to be a magician to make boa morte a good player!HES clueless, play lungberg or matty left side
Agree boa morte is ballsing everything up,but better a draw than a loss.Etherington is injured
i agree with joe (rooster) i think curbs is one of the best managers in england he kept us in the premiership last season and no1 thought he could do it but he proved every1 wrong and i believe we will make europe this year if not then next year.
Curbs is the best english manager thats for sure, and perfect man for the West Ham.
I am just a very, very, big fan of Alan Curbishley and some of the other English managers could not kiss his boots!
In a word. No. Your closing qoute: “We played man City today like they was Fulham, again we should have won, but it wasnt to be†almost says it all.
Curbishley does not have the attitude or aptitude to get us into Europe, ever. Let alone next season.
He played City on Sunday happy with a point from the off, yet it was obvious to even non WHU supporters that they were there for the taking.
Bilic summed it up after the game. The difference between us and the top 4 is that they go all out, always, and expect 3 point from every game whereas we pick & choose fixtures that we will gladly take a point from.
On 70 minutes when Boa Morte was (rightly) substituted, Faubert was brought on and played out of position for a further 10 minutes. We had a point in the bag already !
Green hardly toched the ball in the second half, so why not at that stage bring on Faubert for the right and Reid for the left ?
Reid needs experience and this was the perfect opportunity – not to mention the fact that pace out wide with Cole causing all sorts of problems for the central defence, would probably have brought the winning goal.
What did Curbishley do ? Spector – to put a 5th defender on the pitch to guarantee the draw with minutes and stoppage time left.
His ‘friend’ as you say, Magnusson was pushed out by Gudmundsson for panic buying and consequently paying extortionate wages to players that do not warrant it. We are being led out week by week by a man on 70-75k a week who does not seem to care overly much about our success.
Out of our enlarged, over paid squad, there only seem to be a handful of players who share the ‘Bilic attitude’ of win at all costs. In my opinion those are Noble, Mullins and Bowyer – and I for one would sooner see Noble or Mullins with the arm band than Neill. Upson is also possibly on the fringes of this group.
This may not seem related to Curbishley’s performance, but of course it is – he bought many of the players and his attitude toward them and our clubs results and performance rubs off.
To say after this game that we’d ‘like’ a top 8 finish does not inspire, it is a get out clause as is the injury list we hear so much about.
This team has the ability to finish top 6 but to do so requires both the correct tactics and as important, the right attitude.
Pardew had more passion, drive and commitment – think Arsene Wenger – and he was shoddily disposed of. Curbishley does not and should follow suit by the end of the season at the latest.
Thus giving us a chance of snapping up Bilic, who clearly would relish the job – before other ‘bigger’ clubs realise that he has all the tools to attain the success we the fans deserve.
