West Ham: New Stadium Plans due Early 2008

Architect plans for West Ham’s new Stadium will be handed over to the LDA early 2008, hopefully we will see some idea what the stadium will look like, amongst all the other developed area of Newham around the time of the opening of the London Olympics.

LDA quoted

The Hammers have been given extra time to work on proposals for a new stadium next to West Ham Tube station. The club were initially given until the end of 2007 by the London Development Agency (LDA) to come up with a feasible design for a 60,000-capacity ground on the former Parcel Force site.

The LDA confirmed it has granted the unspecified amount of time,

increasing speculation that a deal could be announced early in the new year.

Now nearly the end of January, but no plans have been submitted yet.

It would be interesting to know what name is going to be given to the new stadium.

Whats taking them so long to show the plans? unless they are thinking about redeveloping the east stand, i prefer to stay at upton park.

I would call the new stadium THE TERENCE BROWN STADIUM

    Lol - Ironside.

The New Boleyn, for me. Having said that, I too had hoped that we would stay and redevelop. The Prem is already too full of lifeless, soulless new stadia half filled with lifeless, soulless supporters watching lifeless and soulless football financed by lifeless…………

even though some sponsor will come in and bribe the board to call it something like the emirates, i’d like to see a bit of tradition and call it the iron works stadium. i’d also like us to maintain a booby moore stand. but as i say, it’s all academic.

Won’t the name just be a corporate sponsor, to the effect of “The Emirates”? Too much money involved in stadium names to pass that up.

I love upton park and it will be a sad day when we move but the fact is that for west ham to progress they have to expand. There is no room to extend 30 odd thousand more seats at the Boleyn

The stadium should be named THE BOBBY MOORE STADIUM.

Then, each of the 4 stands should be named after

    GREENWOOD, LYALL, BROOKING and BONDS.

The Bobby Moore Stadium is the only 1 for me too, and i certainly dont want it to be called The Landsbanski Stadium, the bank who will be funding the venture, owned by are very own BG, You think Arsenal with all there yesteryear Legends would have given their stadium a heros name.
And Ironside, i take it you was joking about terence Brown stadium?
