There is so many rumours flying around about so many players at West Ham, and the rumours are  usualy started by the tabloids to sell papers.But with so many players supposedly linked to us, for example, Fred from Lyon for around £10m, Shorey from Reading for about £5 with some kind of deal, Tiago Mendes from Juve worth around £8m, Youngster Nicolas Mazzola for £1m, Jermain Defoe for £7m, Giles barnes worth around £4.5m, Djibril Cisse worth about £5m, or who i believe will be signed up this January is Darren Bent for about £11m and some sort of deal.
Or do we really need anybody, we could wait a few more weeks for injured players to return, and be happy finishing around 7th-9th place this season, and make 2008-2009 our target for top 6.
Who would you sign, or shouldn’t we bother?

I totally agree that we don’t need to sign anyone really considering the potential first eleven/ squad we have, though the likes of young players such as Mazzola and Barnes would be great additions for the future. Possible the one position we could do with covering is left back, with Shorey being the player the Irons have been linked with. Though I would be very disappointed to see McCartney lose his first team place to an incoming player as I think he has been one of the most underrated players in the Prem this season
i agree. i think that if we are to sign someone this window then it has to be on our terms, if you are right then i think 11m for bent would be on our terms and for that we would get a pacy young clinical finishing forward who has something to prove. also the stories for giles barnes does not seem to be going away. the only problem is we seem to have a wealth of options in that position even if we are short of a couple of players. unless curbs thinks he will make a big difference to us this in the next 6 months, then he should wait, the experience for barnes getting a game every week will hold him in good stead. a young argie forward though, get him while you can.
Definitely have to sign come on think longer term. Freddie L crocked on his way out, Boa Morte, not exactly top class, Spector, why do you think Man UTD got rid of him, George, has been playing well but is he world class?? West Ham claim to be ambitious and want a top 6 finish, well wake up and smell the S*** because at the moment it’s just a dream even with the POTENTIAL of the squad when they are all fit, what happens when the Gooners suffer a few injuries, more class comes into the team and they still play good footbal, sorry to say!! Forget Cisse, useless idiot but lets have the others let spend the money speculate to accumalate lets buy 4 or 5 real good players to go with the POTENTIAL then we really might stand a chance of a top 6 finish and not just talk the talk!! C’MON Curbs sort it out, that’s what we pay 40-50 quid a week for not the current crap coming out of Upton Park.
I for one am happy with the direction we are going in, do we really need to pay over inflated prices this year, and categorically no we don’t. Does Fred speak perfect English? and do we really need Barnse who hasn’t overly impressed at Derby. If Gudjohnson came up then yes go get him, but for this season we look comfy in mid table. Come the summer and with the new stadium plans on the table, we become a very attractive outfit, which class players will want to come and play for. Our prefered starting eleven looks awsome on paper, we have a strong back five and a midfield that has awsome potential, it is only the forwards where we lack top six strikers. Lets be honest Deano and Bellars are both injury prone, and only Zamo is worthy of that level, Anelka would have been nice, Bent maybe, but I really do fancy the option of Defoe, its a shame the rest of the fans don’t.
i think we need to buy 2 or 3 players we have a ok squad with some good players we do also have some not so good players but our good ones seem to be injury prone or some of them do!

Stop all the Jermaine talk, please. That ship has sailed. What we need is Bent or Gudjohnsen, Bent long term, Gudjohnsen shorter term.
Hate to agree, whishing Deano and Craig could prove us wrong and stay fit, but they seem to be injury prone. On paper or in a video game West Ham have a strong outfit, now let’s get fit. stay fit, and kick some sh..

well am not a lover of bent as he already has sayed no and as for cisse well he sayed no also and then u got defoe who couldent wait to get away, now why go after people that think there bigger than the club. Now if they snub us once there is a reaily good chanch that they will do it again. Now i think another player at the back is needed if its shorey thats ok but as it was pointed out McCartney is doing a fantastic job. Then there is mid field and we need another nobby a play maker and i dont no of anyone there to do it. And then there is the front line i se nothing wrong with bobby or cole and if wot we are hearing about dino is right, and he thinks hes not getting enough games he should watch a few matches that hes been in and he says hes fit well why is it he dosent run for anything. Lazy is a good word, now west ham stood by him now its pay back time stop crying and start playing.
imo, for what its worth, we need another fwd, cover at left back and another nobby clone (20 odd rather than 30 odd). we have competition/cover elsewhere and don’t desperately need to pay silly season prices. how many players will be free agents in the summer, after all!
the young argie SOUNDS interesting, but as curbs said – not for the first team just yet.

Hej, we,re resonabley covered,but would like to sign Storey.Apart from that we really need a top quality striker.Have done for years,not scoeing enough goals.
I think we should go after Jimmy Bullard now he’s fit. He’s an awesome player, and with Scott Parker being so injury prone, we need quality cover in that position… unless a ‘top six team’ would play Hayden Mullins ever week.
