Neill: It was a Great Honour! West Ham Fulham
Lucas Neill was well aware of the poignancy of captaining West Ham on the 15th anniversary of club legend Bobby Moore’s death.
Moore, the long-time West Ham and England skipper, was considered the epitome of professionalism and fairness during his career, leaving Neill humbled by the honour of following in the 1966 World Cup winner’s footsteps.
“Even now it makes me tingle,”
Neill said.
“It is a great honour. You mention Bobby Moore, and to put your name on a list with great names such as that is truly remarkable. I don’t see it as an achievement. I see it as a privilege or an honour.”
West Ham honoured Moore with a 1-0 away win against Fulham, the team he joined in the twilight of his career.

Its very hard to find positives regarding Lucas’ role.
His combination with his rightsided central defender, and the wide right of midfield is neither outstanding nor entertaining.
He may well be not at his best because of the make up of the team, and our particular tactics this season.
He is a Hammer, and says the right things,
I hope that we havent seen the best of him.
It would be nice if someone had a full list of all the previous Hammers first team Captains.
