In, out, shake it all about!

Silly season has already begun and the usual amount of transfer rumours are in full flow, with some that might have some credibility and others straight out of the beano comic, And players going in their droves from our club.
Rumours are already suggesting Dean Ashton is leaving, and the old rumour of Green going to Arsenal keeps popping up, with also a mass clearance of players that resembles a clearance sale at MFI.
I personally don’t think Green or Ashton are going anywhere, but there is confirmation that there will be a clearing of players.
My reckoning is that Quashie, Davenport, Cole and LBM, will be the most likely candidates to go, But, maybe there is a few surprises on the way aswell.

I would assume that BG would avoid selling our best players on principle and to advertise that we are not a selling club any more. The reverse is true of course regarding the dead wood ‘in, out and shake it all about’ being the appropriate prose here. I think there are as many as 12 to go and I would add Mullins, Zamora, Etherington, Pantsil, Bowyer, Collins, Gabbidon, McCartney and getting some money for them while we can( about 25 million all together)

I agree ironsmith,I think Mullins and also panstil will go aswell, but wouldn’t mind giving mcCartney another season.Got a feeling the z man will stay, but you could be right as i’ve had an idea he might be shipped out.If it’s going to be a mass clear out it will certainly bump the cash up on top of what BG has already got, which is a sound and secure way forward for the future. This summer is going to be interesting.

I can almost guarantee that if fulham stay up, Zamora will go there for about £4m+, we need to keep McCartney, he showed some fantastic skills last saturday, and i do know some euro clubs will be putting bids in for him

BG and his son are smart smart businessmen as is Duxbury (he would be off in a shot if we became a selling club) - You don’t get investments in the likes of class like Nani coming along because we are a selling club - BG wants to build something. He is not as badly affected by the credit crunch at his Icelandic bank as the other banks there are. You also get the strong impression that BG and his son are also ambitious for their investments to pay off - Selling the best players sends out all the wrong messages and they know will do untold damage to the club. But they do want quality and talent - like Whinger builds at the Arse - at a cheaper price than we have been paying - So BG is right to get the finances sorted and cut the wage bill - Why do we need Quashie, Pantsil, LBM, Camara (remember him - what was he taken into the squad on a loan for?), Gabbidon, Davenport, Wright, Mullins, Zamora, Reid, perhaps Cole (I would like to see him stay but think he might go) and perhaps Bowyer That trims the squad by 12 to 22 - I think he’s got a few more to go as well but might be restricted eg Ginge Collins but his injury will limit that until January 2009. With 22 he will then have quite a few funds (selling those off should generate some £20m to spend - positions to fill and if you look at 2 quality players for each position - Up front he needs at least 4 - Ashton, Bellamy, Sears - so he needs 2 additions here (Bent from the Spuds? plus one other striker to play off perhaps Cole stays), midfield he has Freddie, Noble, Parker, Etherington, Collinson, Faubert, Dyer (7 so he needs 2 more - central midfielders) and defence Skippy, Ferdinand, Upson, Tompkins, Linda, Specs (6 so he needs 2 more - central defender and left back cover), and then Greeny, Walker plus another goalkeeper. At last we have a reshaped squad financially secure and heading for a top 6 place - well one can but hope When we are on song we are brilliant trouble is we are too inconsistent

Mike definitely knows his football. i do agree what you said about BG and Son, selling West Ham at the moment is very bad business and lets not forget that Landsbanki deal in Euro’s and not the fading £ so BG is actually quite financially sound, West Ham in the years to come will be worth 3 times what BG invested in it, a good businessman will always find what needs trimming in his business to provide a more secure future, and the amount of players in the squad is OTT by probably 12-15 players now.
Given time i can see BG making West Ham a very profitable club and also very successful.

I agree with you Rooster, and alot of newspapers have been trying to scare us by drumming up scaremongering about our finances, but BG and son know what they are doing
