Bjorgolfur Gudmundsson: Trim – Sell – Buy, You’ve got 1 more Season!
By Joe (Rooster)
A senior source from West Ham has told the BBC that BG (Bjorgolfur Gudmundsson) is not in the habit of firing Managers after only 18 Mths of work, but what he will be expecting from Curbishley next season is a Eufa place at the minimum.
The source said
“Mr Gudmundsson is used to looking at long-term factors and knows you don’t judge a manager in any business after 18 months,”
“Now is a time to stabilise, because we are convinced that success comes through stability. The ratio between wages and turnover is too high at the moment.
“We have probably the biggest first-team squad in the Premiership and our transfer strategy has to be carefully planned going forward.
“West Ham have a first-team squad of 40, so there is considerable room for manoeuvre. The last thing you should do when you have a problem is to throw money at it.”
The Source also said about the financial side of West Ham:,
“We finalised the financial arrangements of West Ham before the credit crisis hit and the club is on a very stable footing. That financial framework hasn’t changed a bit.”
and then he said about the team and training facilities:,
The Hammers are now focusing on bringing through their own players, with Freddie Sears and James Tomkins already having impressed for the first team this season.
And Gudmundsson is determined to improve the club’s medical and training facilities, after being alarmed at the number of injuries suffered by players like Craig Bellamy, Matthew Upson and Dyer.
“The medical and training facilities are better than those at a lot of other Premier League clubs but not as good as AC Milan’s, which is the level we are aiming for,”
Curbishley said today to the media:,
“Everyone is over for the Aston Villa game, so I’ve got a board meeting on Monday morning and things will be thrashed around then,” said the former Charlton chief, who received a vote of confidence in March.
“We’ll discuss the training ground and everything connected with the club.
“Sorting out a transfer budget depends on getting return dates for some of the injured players.
“We may, as some will keep going through the summer, react as we go along.”

NEWSNOW
Isn’t that what Curbishley said when he first came in? First objective was to stay up, 2nd season to consolidate premier league status and 3rd season to push for a place in Europe. I’m not Curbishley’s biggest fan (didn’t want to see Pardew go to be honest)but to be fair he has done what he said he would so far. As for injuries I don’t see that the Dyer injury can be looked at in the same way as Bellamy and co. Anyone would have suffered a broken leg after that tackle
Lets hope west ham dont issue sleeping bags when they send out next seasons season tickets.Cant sit throu another negative boring season. We have to bring some players that can entertain, that are skillful enough to do the different option in play.Im a great beleiver in the buck stops with the manager, its curbs team and at the moment the team plays the way he comes across. We want be proud of our team,so curbishley get them fit,get in some quality and dont be afraid to win a match. With Nani on board you know you dont have much time, bring on next season, time to clear the dead wood and hopefully Nani knows who we can buy.
Waste of time giving him another year. we’ll be in the championship by then!! Get rid of him NOW!!!
I am sick and tired of hearing about sacking AC. Look at all the other clubs that have changed their manager on a frequent basis and have ended up in the crap and not in The Premiership. Give it a sodding rest and let the man get on with his job. Last year we pulled of a miracle to escape, this year we were never in any danger, and yes it wasn’t what we all hoped for but given what he had at his disposal we could have done a lot worse and we finished above The Spuds. He must get all the players back, hopefully add a few and get rid of a few and then let’s see what he does and if it ain’t working don’t you think BG will take action. I know this is all about opinions but I sometimes think we don’t need anyone else putting us down we do a fing good job ourselves.
