Decision Time!
By Joe J (Rooster)
First of all i apologise about the last post Mourinho sings to Sven, The post was accidentally deleted.
We have come to the part of the year where decisions have to be made, where most clubs are analysing what went well and what when wrong over the past few months and making crucial decisions.
Do we spend millions to try and get success and but risk financial difficulty if it fails or spend less and pray for Premier League survival? Sell your best player, or bring in more? For the also-rans in the league, make a determined effort to end the monopoly of the ‘big four’ or settle for second best?? do we take it for granted that the Injured players from 07/08 return and bring us success? or do we take it for granted that Gianluca Nani will be the Messiah and persuade the worlds talent that West Ham is the place to be? or will we just be a feeder club for new Loanees as a stepping stone to bigger clubs?
Did BG already make 1 mistake with giving Curbishley another season to frustrate the fans, who knows, the first 5 games in 08/09 will only tell us that.
What do you think will or would or could make West Ham successful in 08/09?

NEWSNOW
West Ham shouldnt and won’t be looking to spend huge amounts this summer, but with all our attacking players and flair being back next season we should just shore up the defence more.No doubt around 10 players will be leaving, we should sign:RB Marco Zambelli – £10M – Lucas Neill has had a poor season.CB Richard Dunne – £5M – If Anton Ferdinand is to leave.LB Nicky Shorey – £5M - We have only one left back.RM Mark Bresciano – £4M – Solano to leave, a top replacement.CAM Davide Lanzafame – £Loan, but Juve would be willing to let him go as he was going to be part of a deal to take Amauri of Palermo to the Dello Alpi.Team for next Season:GK Robert Green            Marek Stech      RB Marco Zambelli          Jonathan SpectorCB Richard Dunne          James TomkinsCB Matthew Upson         James CollinsLB Nicky Shorey             George McCartneyRM Julien Faubert          Mark BrescianoCM Mark Noble                 Kieron DyerCM Scott Parker (c)        Davide LanzafameLM Fredrik Ljungberg     Matthew EtheringtonCF Dean Ashton              Carlton ColeCF Craig Bellamy            Bobby Zamora
I cant believe we are even thinking about an italian striker who is completely unproven at this level. We have two excellent strikers in Ashton and Bellamy, a young lad of our own to train in Sears and two hard working lads tosell and spend that money on 1 good new striker. I think Zamora is probably better than Cole but if we need cash then both should go and we can bring in someone established for 5-8M.Nicky Shorey, are you having a laugh, for me unsettling Bridge is a far better choice and getting him to quit ChelseaOur priority should be clearing out the average players, Mullins, Boa Morte, Quassi, Bowyer, Pantsil, Spector, Reid, Ferdinand also to go for me as long as it is not to the Yids, he is overated in my opinion and Collins makes far less mistakes to name a few and buy a couple of experienced replacements that can create something from midfield, a younger Solano. For me Llundberg should also go, his salary is just creating trouble amongst the other players. I would like a new striker of quality, a new midfield playmaker and cover for left and right back. If you include the youngsters coming through that should be sufficent,.. 4 in 8-10 out should also balance some books Â
I think that we as a premier club are on the righ road to success right now. From 15th last year to 10th this year, logically, although far more difficult to achieve, we should aim for 5th or higher next time. To achieve this we have to invest as much if not more than everton, spuds, villa etc. to stand a chance. BG was absolutely right to give AC the chance to start the new season and if he is not top 8 at christmas and playing decent football he will be moved aside. I think Curbs will be given money for new players- I think we need at least 5 top class performers whilst clearing out about 12 players not up to it and if Curbs is shrewd he could achieve all this at little cost. For example swap LBM plus cash to Newcastle for N’Zogbia and if as reports suggest he will let ferdinand go why not a straight swap for Bent?. Along with Shorey, Bresciano, Lanzefame and 1 or 2 others we would be a force to reckon with, assuming of course we have a fully fit squad to choose from.
the only 2 we will buy is shorey, dunne, and loan the italian guy, from Juve. thats it i reckon, make a profit on what we get rid of, happy transfer kitty for january
What are all the stories about Ricahrd Dunne about, in my opinion why would be interested in him. Yes he has had a solid season at city, but the guy has no pace what so ever and if the idea is to play him with Upson, who is not exactly the fastest guy out of the blocks, that would be a suspect pairing. Anyway, its crazy to consider buying a centre half, we have a wealth of talent in that area, and should concentrate on developing Tompkins and Ferdinand, both are young and have bundles of potentional and have the foundation to go on and be far greater players than Dunne. I personal feel Ferdinand is growing with age and next season he can really start to become the force at the back we have all hoped he wouldAlso when Collins and Gabbidon return (through my claret tinted glasses) these players are as good / if not better than Dunne
If nobody has heard the rumours yet then let me be the first to start the ball rolling. Curbs is waiting for the chop. all the chairman is waiting for is the manager we all want to make his mind up before he leaves….. lets hope he wins the FA cup to sign off from pompy on good terms. Harry is on his way back watch this space.
to iron smith, you are therefore sugesting that as 10th to 15th this this years, we should logically be fighting for 5th this year means that the following year we should be aiming for 1st
with all due repsect, your logic is a tad out
Why does curbs insist on buying mediocre players! Richard Dunne has had a good season, but he just isnt right for West Ham. He lacks pace, and a pairing of him and Upson would make them an easy target. If rumours are true and Ferdinand is off, we need to bring in someone with PACE! Personally i think it would be a shame to see AF go. As for the rest of the team we need to get cover at left back – shorey being the quick option and someoone to replace the ever overrated Lucas Neill. Ljunberg needs to leave, free up the wages his on we could bring in a new right winger and cover. If we sell Zamora and Cole and invest the money from this on a another striker we would be doing ok. I would like to see Shorey, Bresciano, Zambelli and perhaps someone like Lita bought in as cover up front.
The chairman is being sensible. Careful and gradual progress is the best option, building our club to the next level.
