Looking back, looking forward
By Dave Hall
Looking back, I am curious just how many more goals Dean Ashton would have scored if he had been able to play more games and was 100 % fit from the start. Considering what Deano has gone through, he has done a great job, despite having injuries. And looking at his last two goals, and seeing his performance level start to increase towards the end of the season, I can’t wait to see him back after the summer. What we partly missed from him due to unfortunate circumstances, will change next season, and we will see Deano be even more of a threat up front than he was recently.

definitely the Dean Ashton we have been waiting for, and lets hope Bellamy, Dyer, Faubert have the same fighting spirit that Deano has shown, Build the team around these 4 guys and we will have a team that will take us to BG’s new target of 5th or 6th place or 1st and 2nd of div 2 of the Premier League

I have no doubt we are a top 6 side with a fit Dean Ashton(and a few top draw signings this summer). Ashton is unmistakebly England class and I am sure he will confirm this in the future. It says a lot for the man himself to have got through a difficult season successfully and finish on such a high! Well done Deano -top man!

And we must do all we can to keep Deano in the summer, he is a major role to our success next season. I get tired of hearing commentators on tv saying, ‘it’s goals like that, that will catch the eye of other clubs’. Hands off, Deano is our player

I couldn’t agree more Joe, the biggest problem AC has had is who to play alongside him, Deano has the quality to ‘hold the ball up’ and bring other players in, but at present we don’t have anyone that can ‘play off him’ except Craig Bellamy. Deano is a class act and should be in the England side, providing that he can keep fit, he’s got a big future and he’s still young.
