Mickey Mouse or Godzilla? Who would you Choose?
Mickey Mouse or Godzilla? AKA Defoe or Deano?
We all know Capello is testing players to find out their abilities and how they blend together as a team, but is Defoe the right choice? he lacks strength, he misses 9/10 goals he aims for and he falls at the slightest touch.
Rooney was so frustrated with Defoe or was i the only 1 who noticed the look on his face when he went off?
What i would have loved to have seen, was a Deano up front, Big guy, Strong and versatile.
He scored 5 goals in his last 8 games for West Ham and could easily have scored 1 or 2 against a very lackluster USA team.
We are proud of you Deano, show Capello what your made of.
Lets hope he gets a game on Sunday.

NEWSNOW
Cant believe Cappello didnt give Deano a go last night. We all know that for England Defoe cant hit a barn door. Last night was a waste of time. Give some different people a go. Crouch is in front at the mo because he has experience but the better allround footballer is definately Deano. He would have proved it, and helped Rooney! Big and little is the best front line for England, and Deano can play on the deck so we dont have to resort to Crouch long balls with poor flick ons to no-mans-land!!
Why don’t England Managers watch videos of previous internationals to gain knowledge on players rather than waste friendlies on the usual suspects. FACT Gerrard needs to be in the centre with Barry with Cole on left and Bentley on the right. Lampard and Gerrard can’t play in the same team. FACT – Defoe is the new Steve McMananaman – great at club level – total sh*te in white. Ashton can link play like Rooney to allow them to interchange – can score blinding headers and is good with both feet. Does the English FA have some unwritten law saying managers (Sven – McClown and now Capello) have to play our so called big named players????? I like conspiracy theories but Im starting to think there might be more to this. Watch Deano start in Trinidad and show Defoe where the net is
COMPLETELY agree with this article. I’ve never been a big fan of defoe at the best of times. But his display yesterday was awful, and i’m glad Capello saw it first hand. He’s a poor finisher, if he even gets the chance to have a go, he’s INCREDIBLY greedy, which i suppose you need to be as a striker, but if there’s a man on the overlap in the middle like last night, BLOODY FEED HIM! He’s not a team player like Deano. Along with Crouch (when change the tactics is needed) and Rooney we’d have a pretty solid strike force. With Gerrard on the edge of the box for those balls that dribble out… i’m almost drooling at the thought of the world cup qualifiers!!

A little off topic I know but has Rob Green now slipped down the pecking order below League 2 goalkeepers. England managers can possibly argue their superior knowledge of the game (oh yeh!) when they pick other Premiership keepers over The Big Green Man, but surely the powers that be can’t argue that Joe Lewis of Peterborough (who have just been promoted from league 2 to league 1) is better than our keeper. I’ll take this particular gripe back if somebody tells me Rob Green is injured but even then I still can’t see why he is not (at least) the regular second choice.
Good point Phillo, Rob Green would be 2nd or 3rd choice to a normal British manager, im not sure if Capello has a grudge against Green or what? but maybe he wants to give at least every english player in the leagues a cap, Im hoping he picks me soon, i only play for bag o nails pub, but im a decent little winger. lol
I think you’ll find Rob Green is either in Africa or on his way. He’s doing a sponsored trek up Kilimanjaro (from what I understand).
The Green climb is given as 20th June on his donation page.Surely he didn’t turn down an opportunity to break into the England set up though?I’ve seen Joe Lewis in a couple of games this season and didn’t think he was even up to Championship ability let alone International level.Defoe was wasteful when he should’ve been holding up the ball (1-0 up at International level with nowhere to go). Perhaps he was trying too hard to make a more positive impression on the game. But do people really think Ashton & Rooney would make an effective starting partnership?
