Curbishley Under Pressure, He shouldnt be!

The Hammers Fixture list should give Curbs a good start to the season, West Ham’s first 8 games do not include any of the big 4 clubs, so there is a possible big chunk of the 24pts up for grabs providing we have a fit squad including Bellamy, Faubert, Dyer.
Alan Curbishley is under a pressure after a mediocre campaign last season, and if the Hammers suffer a poor start to the season, moves could and should be made to bring Bilic back to Upton Park where he is considered a legend amongst large sections of the fans.
Bilic’s career as a manager has proved that he is more than capable of taking any team to new heights, West Ham desperately needs to improve its status as a top club and a majority of hammers fans believe Bilic is the man to take the club forward, but saying that, i am pretty sure we all would prefer Curbs and the team to do well throughout the whole season and show all his doubters ( inc Me ) we know Sweet FA when it comes to managing a Premiership club.

Good Luck Curbs, i dont want to see those Hammocks under your eyes get any bigger.

I agree. There are some who want Curbs replaced as soon as possible. However considering the position we were in when he came & the horrific injury problems we suffered last year a mid table finish was not so bad. That said, Curbs has it all to do. Bilic has been successful thus far & would no doubt leap at the chance to come to the Premier League, especially West Ham. At the start of last season i would have happily taken the position we are in but we need to move forward. We have the opportunity to get a good start. The ball is in his court.

To be honest I think we’re at least a season away from getting a new manager. Curbs was brought in to steady the ship, which he did last year albeit in unspectacular and unpopular fashion (yeah yeah, injuries *yawn*). We’re yet to see the best out of the players he’s brought in - in fact we’re yet to see some of them full stop. Can’t see the chairman getting a new manager in yet and that will be to make us regular challengers for Euro places in the table, same as Moyes has done with Everton. Bilic will be snapped up at the end of the Euros, we’ll miss the boat completely there. Don’t expect to see Bilic with the hammers for a while yet, if ever.

Agree with everything said so far - what’s going on? I think some people aren’t happy unless they’ve got something to moan about. They’d better look elsewhere ‘cos we’re going to have a mega season!

I am not a big fan of Curbs although I agree with whats been said and think we need to give Curbs until christmas with a fully fit squad before passing judgement, although his sides always seem to do well before new year and go down hill after.

I think that all of us would like to see Bilic in charge at some point as he wants his sides to play the sort of football lacking from us last season.

There is also the worry that somebody else will come in for Bilic and we will miss out

Why wait till Christmas when we are in the bottom 3, curbs is no good for the club how can you lot stick up for the idiot he proved himself totally inept last season every week blaming the injuries, not once did he say sorry its my fault i havent got a clue, in true westham style they will hang about too long, (like they do during the transfer window) miss out then panic with a day to spare and miss out on Bilic, sweep the backroom clean now and get someone who can give us a mega season, Curbs just isnt capable, proven by his tactical knowledge and style of play, hi training methods etc etc when you are up against some of the biggest managerial minds in europe you have to have a clue to start with, look at Curbs track record and let that speak for itself!!

Curbs had a good first half of the season, but second half, even he would admit, was poor. Injuries played a part, but he signed them. I am not going to pass judgement until I see where we are coming into the new year. He was a saviour when he kept us up, but a villian when we weren’t playing well. Let’s see how the team does with no injuries etc. Dyer is no doubt a good player, Faubert was unlucky, and I liked what I saw of Parker. The squad needs to be trimmed and it will be interesting to see who Curbs will keep to get the club ‘going forward’. I for one am looking forward to the new season, and in true West Ham fashion, I think we will do well….

I agree with all the above about Curbs, he lacks charisma and his teams seem to reflect that in their style of play. Last year he was unlucky with injuries and that situation may or may not have affected the playing style of the team (e.g. Dyer, Faubert and Bellamy are quicker and more skillful players than those we had to field in their place).

Probably only fair to give him a few months to see if, with his key signings in the team, that he can produce a team that can get results and play attractive football. If not, then I think that BG should move for someone different.

Not so sure that Bilic is the obvious answer though. He’s got a great affinity with the club and fans, is clearly intelligent and a good motivator but has no real club management experience (certainly not to the level needed in the PL) and I don’t understand why everyone asumes that he would be any better than Curbs who has far more experience.

The grass certainly is always greener and that approach is exactly why teams like newcastle and spurs are forever changing managers. As a fan I think WH are better than that,

no, i agree 1 up front is crap but given all the resourses at his disposal this aint how he’d set up the team

think back to the only deacent run we had with bellamy breakng away from home and looking like a cohesive team. plus he’s a propper gaffer who knows foorball clubs inside out. plus he’s a cockney not a f’ing gypsy

and no, i get nervious crossing the river. scared of catching something from the scabby inbreads

if you want caravans on the turf….

I’m 4 Curb’s! U can’t play attacking football with no attacking players. Last year was a right off, with all our injured we should have been in a relegation battle, not in 10th. We all want to watch attractive football, and a healthy West Ham should provide this. Ashton, Bellamy, Zamora, Dyer, Faubert, and Parker, are a few of “earners” that we missed last term. Let’s get behind Alan and have a good year! If he can’t get that squad to play entertaining football, then we should have this conversation, but till then I think he’s safe. Let’s give our English manager some bloody support!
    WEST HAM TILL I DIE!!!

think Curbs record against top managers,ie Fergie,Wenger while West Hams manager stands up pretty well? And as for buying injury prone players, would think the medicals they have these days, medical experts must have said they were worth buying,so what was he supposed to do with what he had available to him?And was he not allowed to mention injured players in interviews when asked why results had gone against us?

Course he should be under pressure. All top managers are under pressure to produce and he should be no different - he’s had his year’s grace courtesy of us staying up, now he HAS to produce. No excuses. Injuries or no injuries, there are certain basic philosophies about the way we play which should never be forgotten and which should underpin our every game. Even simple things like pass to a player in the same coloured shirt went astray last season. Yes we should be realistic but that doesn’t mean we can’t have some ambition - play good football and you’ll win stuff, play crap football and you won’t. It’s not rocket science.

curbs is an arse hole sent from charlton to destroy this once great football club, 8-1 to get relegated at the end of the season, carr and harper on route. says it all CURBS OUT

Bottom line is Curbs aint no tactical genius, and he certainly doesnt inspire the players or the fans. With all the best will in the world he’s just not a top class manager, and I reckon mid tables about his level of potential achievement.

Are we happy with that, or do we want more ? If the answers yes, then eventually the guy will have to go.

Sorry different point, just read that Risse has gone to italy for 3.5m, why on earth did we not show an interest, cover at left back, still young, no real injury history, scandanavian connection, expereinced at highest level. If they cant afford Lundbergs wages then Risse cant be getting much either so i cant see money/wages as an issue. Much preferred to Shorey in my opinion.
We dont seem to be linked with anything exciting unfortunatey, we certainly wont be buying any midfielders until we get rid of a few so we miss out on Sidwell, shame. by the time Zamora and Cole go it will be too late to tie up with any decent replacements and we still have nobody decent and fit that can play left midfield which is why Risse makes so much sense

Give it a rest! Curbs saved us from the championship, got us into the top half of the league last season, with an injury ravaged squad, so what logical reason can there be to sack him now that he has a squad nearing full fitness. Bilic seems a popular choice to replace AC but that will only promote more changes to players and playing systems. AC will have his flair players fit for the new season and they should be given the chance to gel as a team.
Change does not often bring success, stability and continuity appears the key to sucess at this and most levels, just look at the domination of the clubs that have this.
A Hammer for 50 years I have only seen success when the club was stable under Greenwood or Lyle. Redknapp may have acheived it given more time and boardroom support. I hope AC gets the support he merits from our new owner then a top six place could be possible in the coming season.
