Make way for new Blood!
Selling off Ferdinand can only be a good thing, we have too many players that we need to sell or release if we want success in the future and Ferdinand is 1 of them.
He is always going to be in Rio’s shadow and has never produced the defensive quality that Rio possesses in the 6 years Anton has been with the Hammers.
Selling Anton will not make West Ham a feeder club, as he is 23 years old, and had bags of time to show some star quality, and to be honest, i don’t think he has any? so lets sell the lad and bring in some new blood.

it all depends on what or who he’ll be replaced with and how much we get for him. the dilemna is, keep him and he’ll never fulfil his potential, sell him and he’ll progress into something special after we’ve waited 6 years for it to happen.

I agree with letting him move on - I think the other thing that has played a part here is the chain of events re the US trip he made in the middle of the season, not to mention the night club incident. All that disrupts the dressing room creates the big time charlie atitude we need to get rid of! That said he will no doubt end up a friggin world beater when he moves somewhere else!!

I think your all talking nonsense if any of you have seen him play this year he’s been very good and a very good partner to upson his only real downside this year has been injuries yes the U.S. trip was wrong but you have no right to go on about the night club incident as that was thrown OUT of CROWN COURT he’s had 2 years in the prem give him a chance and off load people like LBM, mullins, quashie, pantsil, davenport and spector

i Agree, but not to spurs, if we sell him to spurs then we might as well all give up..!

It is strange that after nearly 1 month of the season closing we have nothing concrete and more and more rumours, even Ashton has not been tied down yet. We are left with the facts therefore.BG has made it FACT, the squad is too big and before any come in some will have to leave. In fairness the only real chance most of them that we don’t want leaving is that either one of the newly promoted sides step in with some cheap offers to get premiership expereince, despite players such as Cole, Mullins, Bowyer, Zamora,Quashie,Boa Morte,Gabbidon, Paintsil, Spector, Reid and Davenport being average because of last years injuries most of them do have expereince and are on relatively low wages in general which makes them attractive to not only the 3 cming up but a couple of the others that struggled, Fulham, Sunderland, Bolton with historically low wage structures. The difficulty is knowing when they are going to commit to firm offers. because of this I can see some of the those in an ideal world that we would keep being put into the market as well to raise funds. Ferdinands problems are well documented so I can see some truth in this rumour. If the others suddenly get sold I can see Curbs giving him another season if not then he needs cash from somewhere to re invest and it may be his only option. Who is going to buy Neil, Llundberg, Dyer and bellamy with the wages they are on and the history of injury. he cant sell Ashton for fan backlash, the same as Noble and Green, Sears, Collinson and Tomkins are the future and not even in his thoughts to sell so that pretty much leaves no options. McCartney may go but why, good season and we all know how difficult it is to get a decent left back.Lets just hope the new teams start spending soon otherwise we are going to have no choice but stay as we are and give a few away just to cut the wage bill.I still think that we only need 3-4 players with 10 or so leaving to have a good balanced squad that can compete against those outside the top 4.

Joe, I can only entirely agree and we should sell him now to start the ball rolling for a real clearout of up to 12 players to bring in 6 or 7 real quality players. It could be the case that Anton improves his concentration and becomes a top player elsewhere and if that proves to be the case then thats life. I have my doubts about him and can think of several young centrebacks in european football who are infinitely better. When they are all fit, Green Upson, Parker, Ljungberg, Faubert, Dyer, Ashton and Bellamy form the basis of a formidable team and I think the powers that be are aware of this. I am quite happy with the fact that although we have been linked with some right old crap, we have also been linked with some excellent YOUNG players too!

anton is quality you dumbass!!!

How about this as an Anton Ferdinand theory. Since he broke through at WHU, we have had Glen Roeder, Alan Pardew and now Alan Curbishley. Not one of them is a good manager. Roeder was below average, Pardew was below average and Curbishley is average.
I think Anton has some top-line abilities. He’s has elite acceleration to close on an attacker and good top end speed, apart from hamstring problems, he is fairly durable, he’s 6ft 2 and built like a shit-house, with quality streamlined muscle – giving him fantastic athletic ability. He has amazing technique for a defender as well. And his all round game really isn’t that bad. He is dippy like his brother used to be, where he switches off, agreed. But any of Anton’s faults, are nothing that a *quality* manager and playing with better players could not cure.
Anyone who thinks Curbishley should sell Anton needs help! He’s a class youth team player who’s lost his way playing under 3 very shit managers.
Curbishley will be sacked either after Xmas or nearer the end of next season – when he fails to land a UEFA Cup spot. You think Curbs with his team of Donkey’s;
Zammo
13 PL games = 1 goal last season = should be free transferred – cheeky bastard is asking for a new contract, as unhappy with £25K per wk, and Curbs is gonna give him one! It’s madness!!
Carlton Cole
A complete joke, I would think he’d struggle in the Championship
Mullins
Lazy, can’t be bothered dumb as a box of rocks Championship player who constantly gives the ball away, will never sit in defensive midfield, despite not being able to pass or shoot, continually bombs into opposition half helping retard Mark Noble’s development every single game, by not allowing him to go fwd at every opportunity and do what he does best. Noble could be a Lampard style midfielder who scores all the time, but with much better skill and movement. But no, Curbs is holding Noble back as Curbs does not know how to put a team together and utilise the best players
Etherington
Average, always injured – why was he not sold to Wigan when they offered £3 Mil end of last season?
Bowyer
Was crap the first time we had him play at WHU
Boa Morte
Truly the laziest WHU player ever, does not a give a toss! And he get’s £45k a wk for not giving a rats ass!!
Ljungberg
Tries, but is now crap due to worn out body – but we gave him 4 year deal on £75 to £100K a wk. His stats had been dipping for 2 seasons before he even joined WHU. Well researched Curbs, just allow us to flush money down the toilet, and ruin the wage bill so in the future, we can’t go for any really good players, because the wage bill’s shagged. Thanks a lot Curbs!!
Dyer
Will never play more that 4 games a season, turns 30 just before this Xmas. How shagged out is Dyers body gonna be when he turns 30? Thanks Curbs!
Lucas Neal
Slightly above average waste of space Aussie on £70k a wk
Bellamy
Maybe he could stay fit? A genuine class player, but we seriously have to have faith for Craig to be durable
Danny Gabbidon
Why is he still at WHU? He’s been injured the past 2 seasons, and played like a donkey last season when he was fit. Get rid of him!
It’s like WHU are a donkey sanctuary, we pay em big money and then let them just graze away.
Then we have the unsolved mysteries of WHU.
Why was Christian Daily continually given new contracts by each manager, despite being one THE all time most embarrassing Premiership defenders.
Why were Calum Davenport and Nigel Quashie brought? Even a 5-year old WHU supporter knew that both of them made Carlton Cole look like a class player!
So anyone really think WHU are going to beat out teams like Spurs, Villa, maybe Manchester City for places 5 and 6 in the Premier League next season? And Curbs is a loser in the cups, so forget them.
You better just hope that Curbs can’t offload Anton and bring in yet another donkey of his choice (Steven Taylor), to turn WHU a little more into Charlton before he gets fired.
It’s all about damage limitation while we endure another Curbs season. Let just hope he does not sign anymore very expensive completely shit players and move on a quality player like Anton for peanuts before we finally get rid of Curbishley.
I guarantee to everyone who can be assed to read my rant: “Curbishley will give us yet another drab, boring, mundane, excuse filled (I got so many players out injured) useless Charltonesque season!”
PS We have around 7 players from the youths and reserves that will all be good enough to play in the first team. Some of them, Junior Stanislas being the best example – could be an absolute elite A-1 World Class player, like Samuel Eto’o type quality. Jordan Spence and Marek Stech add to that list too.
Do you want to see Curbs SQUANDER all of that new talent? Like he is picking Carlton Cole and Zammo ahead of Freddie Sears, already.
Come on Mr Gudmundsson, why not do EVERYONE a favour and SACK ALAN CURBISHLEY right now, save season 2008/2009!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SACK CURBS!!!! = GET SLAV!!!!!!!!
Peace!!!!!

I read it all, and i have to admit, it was more or less the same views on Curbs as 70% of the people who support the Hammers, we all know what next season is going to be like if Curbs is still manager, dull, boring, and mediocre, probably another mid table finish if we are lucky.
good comment DMJ IronZ

Gooday, I too have read the entire article, well written but alas i dsagree with a few points. First yes the clearout of players is correct and i do not dispute any of those mentioned. The managers however are very different. Glen no idea Roder was a waste of space and was purley installed because Brown was a cheap arse. As we have seen since, he simply is not a number 1 but may well be better suited to assistant coach of championship team with no stars just grafters.I thoroughly disagree with the slating you gave Pardew. Yes it went pear shaped towards the end but look at the circumstances. The club didn’t know whether they were for sale or not, we have all the aggro with the argies and team slection being dictated to Pardew, the second season syndrome and certainly some players not pulling their weight, had success gone to his head, yes of course it was new ground for him but he hardly had much support did he. Sheringham was taking the young boys wages in poker schools, then you had the so called club captain swanning around in his Bentley telling everyone who would listen that he was world class and should be of. Lets look at the facts, season 1 we get to play offs from nowhere, season two we win play offs, season three we nearly win the FA Cup and finish mid table in premiership, then club falls apart and within 15 games he is sacked. Curbs comes in and to be honest is saved in the last 10 games by Tevez, who wasn’t fit whilst Pardew was there. OK he has not set the world alight but be fair in the three years he was there we played some exciting and entertaining football at times and no one could say he wasn’t bothered. Plus who else has forced Wenger to throw a right hook.Curbs is a different story, I think it is too early to judge, as a manager you have objectives, season one survival, completed, season two saftety, completed. OK it was not that exciting but at the end of the day we are still in the Premisership depite playing more players through injury than any other team. We all know that the key to success is a stable team, lets give him a chance to have that before we kick him out, who would replace him anyway? there is no money to spend so we are not going to get a massively different team. It was drull last year but then Curbs bought, Bellamy, Dyer, faubert hadly players you associate with dull. he has given some youth a chance to impress in an atmosphere because of the safety that did’t put too much pressure on them. He now has, if fit ,assembled a team that has the potential to play fast and attacking football and that is what he should be judged on. We all know that Upton Park can be fantastic if we get behind the team and manager, in itself worth a goal a game, moaning and groaning will not resolve anything, I believe that if the players are fit this year we will see a very different WHU, and as part of that i would give ferdinand 1 more season. If we can sell the others then we should generate enough money to add quality without sacrifising potential, he is still under 25after all.
