A Host of New Signings for West Ham
A bright future is foretasted for West Ham with Bjorgolfur Gudmundsson as our owner/finance
manager/personal banker.
Teams like Spurs, Man Utd, Chelsea are still taking the old route of paying vast sums of money to gain an advantage in the Premier League and its European spots at end of season, but West Ham are leading the way in what will be the new norm in football and how new players will join the 1st team.
I beleive the days are gone for West Ham where we pay silly money for players that never really get us in a top 6th place.
Bjorgolfur Gudmundsson’s reputation as an outstanding Banker will prove to be outstanding for West ham in the years to come, he could have taken the Abramovich route and bought success for West Ham but at the same time, like Chelsea be in 100’s of millions in debt, but no, self sufficiency is the way forward and all clubs will one day follow the same route.
This new season will not see many signings, as we already have a host of new signings fresh and fit and ready to come out of the injury room, these will be the guys who will push West Ham into Europe next season, and the Academy stars of tomorrow will be the guys who will make us the club we the fans have always dreamt of.

Theres a lot of negativity with some fans lately, does anyone actually beleive we didnt pay silly money for some players last season?
lungberg alone cost us £4m a season in wages, then theres Neill do i need to say more?
All i am saying is, it looks like things are about to change, and maybe for the better.

This is not new. Man U have been adopting this idea for years hence the Beckham, Scholes Eras. Arsenal to a lesser extent have too. We have produced a great number of highly rated players through our acadamy, and T. Brown sold them!
However to sustain success in this system you have to attract the young talent in the first place. Large fees have been paid for young potential talent, Ronaldo, Anderson, Nani, Walcott and Ramsey have all been purchased for large fees.
Next could Wham satisfy the likes of these players as they progress into international status? I doubt it.
I hope that this can be acheived but it is long term planning. For BG at this point the cheque book remains the best solution despite offending his prudent financial background.

Thank You Kennyhammer, good and positive feedback.

firstly , we need to establish ourselfs as a premier league team , not bouncing between the fizzy pops and the prem, if that takes spending a few miilion of BG’s hard earned then so be it,
at the same time delveopment of the youngsters at the acadamy is of utmost importance, but by ’staying’ a permenant fixure in the prem we will not have , as we have done in the past flog all our young talent and we also attract a better class of player.
This i think is route to success for the Irons.
The more young talent we can keep, the less BG needs to wave the cheques about

We need to spend our money on good young players not on old players which there days over come spend good young talent

Chelsea are hardly in debt!!…Roman has earnt more in interest on his billions than he’s paid out for for Chelsea…
And whenever have West Ham splashed out silly money on a player..our record signing is 7.5mill
Nonsense post!!

This post sounds like something you get from New Labour ‘Spin doctors’ .
We’d all like to see the Academy produce world beating superstars, but when ManUre go out and spend £17mil on Owen Hargreaves, and £20+ mil on Nani, then West Hams Academy is being asked to perform miracles on an annual basis.

@David
Your a fool and know nothing about your team if you beleive Chelsea are not in debt bruv.. and they owe the debt to Abromavch!!

We need some quality signings to back up the youngsters coming through - end of !
This whole post is ill conceived cos our supposed stars coming back that are the equivalent to new signings ie Dyer and Bellamy will both be once again spending half the season in the treatment room ( plus theres the fact they’re a pair of c**** anyway).
New manager with charisma needed who can inspire top class players to join the cause. Its well known within the game that Darren Bent opted to join Spurs before us because he didnt want to work with Curbishley again.
I want to know where the supposed wealth is - am I speculating or do the owners not trust Curbs with the cash ?

Just a further comment on the issues Terry Howard raises. On Sky Sports news yesterday journalist mark Dennis said that Chelsea were in a deficit of 580million on their transfer dealings since new ownership. Added to that the wages deficit takes the club to minus 800million. I don’t think even Man U, or any other top EPL club can compete with this. Chelsea are feeding the owners ego. No other club can compete financially. BG has taken the best financial option by improving our global awareness of potential transfer targets. Not a quick fix but an area that has been unexploited by wham in recent years.
Like any successful business we need a business plan of where we want to be in 1 year or 5 years. This was never in place under T. Brown.
I have supported the club for 50 Years, and have seen success in Europian and domestic cup competitions in the Greenwood/Lyle eras. Under recent ownership we have lost that stabillity. BG must restore stabillity to our great club.
Every fan wants instant sucesss for their club but as long as we can remain an EPL club and build for the future we will have success again.

I also value our Accademy and the tradition for bringing up our own kids. I also prefer purchases of young prospects to purchases of old mercenaries. If I prefered buying success I would follow Chelski or ManYoo. Therefore I understand the post and what worries me is the fact, that there seems to be still more and more WHU fans cunting Curbs and our own players, wanting us to bring Ronaldo and complaining about everything, including the fact we do not spend amount of money Spuds and Chelski are. We are West Ham ffs!!!!!!!!!! Academy of football, club where loyality is important, club with the smallest amount of manager changes in PL, club famous for patient fans and playing footie the right way (OK - I’m not speaking about last season).
The fact is however, that Academy is not enough this days. We need a mixture of our own young tallents, purchase of foreign young prospects and few investitions into estabilished “stars”. This is however what we have been doing recently imo. Some transfers were strenge recently, however when you say A, you must also say B. And B is, that we made majority of this transfers in situation when we desperatelly needen players to avoid relegation. We bought Green, Ashton, Upson, Faubert, Bellamy, Dyer - all very good players. We brought through Noble, Searsy, Tomka and Collison - all tallented guys. We are after some foreign young guns - we bought Stech, Eyjólfsson, Faubert can be considered as young gun as well and hopefully will bring some more.
The f..king problem of our club are impatient c..ts booing our own players and manager and everything. I for one am satisfied with progress made under Curbs (understand survival in first season and 10 place the next season with extreme number of injuries) and the way we are doing things (giving chance to our youngsters, Nani appointment, sensible transfer policy……). Oh, and I believe that our current squad is good enough to reach the target (European cap).
COME ON YOU IRRRROOOOONNNNNNSSSSSSSS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
