Could Liverpool be selling Benayoun Back to West Ham?

With Liverpool’s new signing of Robbie Keane for £19m yesterday from the disillusioned Spurs camp, Liverpool fans are worried that Yossi Benayoun could be the next player to get the chop.

Yossi, was and maybe still is a West Ham favourite in his 2 years with us, but in the way he departed to Liverpool even though he would be on less wages with them, and after he agreed a new five-year deal with West Ham but never signed it, he may never be forgiven by some fans.

What is interesting is that Yossi would probably favour a return to West Ham as his next club if he is to be axed, but would we be interested in taking Yossi back? maybe so, obviously his wages would have be around the same as other attacking midfielders at Upton Park, and Liverpool would accept an offer of £3m for the player, money gained from LBM Sale.

Has playing for Liverpool raised Yossi’s profile? i don’t think so, playing only 30 games and scoring only 4 goals and Liverpool not having the best of seasons, Maybe Rafa would be right if he showed the little Israelite the door, even though the Reds fans would hate to see him go.

Take him back in a heartbeat. WHU midfield desperately lack that attacking creativity.

But would it definately mean the end for Lee Bowyer?

  • GH

4 goals? Shouldn’t trust wikipedia… I remember him scoring two hat-tricks and fairly sure he got into double figures.

  • adz

play him on the left would solve our problem!

  • @jon.london colney, not sure whats happening with Gudjohnsen, he seems to be having the time of his life in pre season training, so maybe barca have second thoughts about selling him.

Ermmmm……let me contamplate this for a second……… Rigor or Yossi, ummmm Rigor or Yossi.

Absolute no brainer ! We don’t possess a true ‘playmaking’ midfielder – Yossi would be perfect.

P.S Despite the loss, 3 mil for Rigor from Blunderland would be a god-send of a steal – having that !

  • it would be excellent to take back the yoss, but it wont happen.
its about time kia got his finger out and started to earn the
money we owe him, there must be some south americian
midfield talent out there somewhere that he has links with.
nani stated lets us find another kaka!
well,,,,,get on with it then,do us proud.
make the spuds look even more insignificant………yesssssssss

Could Liverpool be selling Benayoun back to Liverpool? Er, no, I doubt it very much. And quite frankly he’s not welcome. He chose to leave us halfway through transfer negotiations, after agreeing to sign, then f*** him. He can continue to rot in Liverpool’s reserves and on the bench.
He didn’t want to play for West Ham last season, and we should not let him come back.

“nani stated lets us find another kaka! well,,,,,get on with it”

Jeez, give him a chance, 2 months and you expect West Ham to have signed the next Kaka? There is something very wrong with our fans expectations.

  • Bob

I doubt Yossi would want to come back really. Shame, he is a great player.

  • Iron Man

Are you all COMPLETELY INSANE or have you collectively had a gold fish moment and all your short term memory is shot? Read below to remind yourselves of what the weasel did….I for one would welcome him back as much Paul Ince and Jermaine Defoe. He is not fit to wear the shirt. He has lost that privelidge.
    Never, never, never, never, never…

“I’m very pleased to have agreed this new deal. From the first moment I arrived at West Ham, the Club felt like home to me. We have the best supporters in England.

“I’m very happy because I want to stay at this Club. I’m sure we’ll have a better season next season because we have players with a lot of quality. We will also have new players coming in to make us stronger and better. I’m very pleased because it is the best place for me.

“The Chairman is very ambitious and I want to thank him because the negotiations were very quick. He and the manager showed me they wanted me to stay immediately. Hopefully I will pay them back on the pitch and I will do everything in my power to match their ambition.”

get rid of lbm and replace him with ethrington. i would have benni back any day. he left coz we couldn’t get into europe. fair enough.

if we don’t get in the eufa this year, then more will go. green (overated butterfingers), neill (kangaroo that would jump at the chance of playing for man city or everton), ljunberg (roma would snap him up for 3.5 mil).

for me, the ideal player for whu is guti (plays 4 rela madrid). he’s a midfield master mind, and can play a ball through defence a hell of a lot better than Bently! scores some cracking goals too!

one thing has nothing to do wth the other, benayoun is a midfielder and keane is a striker

i wouldn’t want him back regardless of how good he looked. he bit off more than he could chew going to liverpool and having agreed his new contract, dropped west ham like a stone when liverpool came knocking. i’m sure they’ll welcome him back in tel aviv. enjoy the flight traitor.

  • Goatygav

He’s the type of player we love to see at the Boleyn. I don’t know if it’s going to happen but it would be a great thing to have him back. We always looked so much more menacing with him in the side.

  • Mr Moon

Bearing in mind LBM is playing his position at the moment I think it would be good business.

Whatever the perceived circumstances of his departure, if he came back that would tell you a lot more about his character and feelings for the club.

  • It is good to see the Daily Mail 8 hours behind C’Mon Yu Irons! with this story, I suppose they will get the Glory if it actualy happens.

  • TrevorH

It would be a mistake to bring Yossi back. Yes he is a good player but he didn’t want to stay last year. I agree with iron Man entirely and thank you for reminding us of what he said just before the scousers came sniffing round.

Also, for those that can remember, his form wasn’t brilliant in the first half of the season that we almost got relegated in.

Talking about ex Hammers, if Curbs does go, why do we want Bilic? Has he managed at our level before? Can you remember the circumstances when he went to Everton? Is this the person that deliberately cheated Lauren Blanc out of a World Cup Final spot?

Some of you have very short memories. We need new blood, not old blood, to move on.

  • @Scott

I have to admit your right
