West Ham Trials were a big Plus for David Obua

The West Ham trials were a big plus for David Obua on Friday with our pre season training schedule.

Kaizer Chiefs Defender/Midfielder arrived from Africa on Thursday on what most people thought was a trip to Hearts to join his old coach Laszlo Csaba, but it turned out he had an invitation to trials with the West Ham boys.

An unamed source from the West Ham camp said that Obua did well and was quite impressive.

Obua can play defence or midfield and had been linked to  Croatia’s Dinamo Zagreb, Italian Serie B side Brescia, Orlando Pirates, and other sides from Sweden, Austria, Denmark, Italy, Tunisia and Egypt.

Obua said to the Media:

“As a professional, I have to weigh my options and make a decision. I have many offers, but I’m not about to rush,”

Obua said

“One thing is for sure, I’m not returning to South Africa. I have nothing to prove in South Africa because I believe I’ve won everything as an individual. I need a new challenge that will only be realised in Europe.”

This guy plays left back/left wing for Uganda, so I wouldn’t be surprised if Curs has this guy down as potential competition (or replacement :( ) for George McCartney.

    wiki:

David Obua (born April 10, 1984 in Kampala) is a Ugandan football player who plays as either left-back or left-wing for South African side Kaizer Chiefs and The Cranes, the national team of Uganda.

He was spotted by Kaizer Chiefs after a standout performance for the national team against South Africa. He went on to become one of the top players in South Africa during a two-year period 2005-2007.

In September 2007, he scored a hat-trick for Uganda in an African Cup of Nations qualifier against Niger which The Cranes won 3-1.

Obua is the son of Denis Obua, considered by some as Uganda’s all-time top player. He played for Uganda in the 1978 African Nations Cup Finals.

If curbs is looking for a left back, and he is already looking at a swiss player who plays for lazio, why doesnt he look at ludovic magnin, he was the best left back at the euros and at 29 we would get him for about 5 million from stutgart, not another mercenary african, when will we learn to stay away from these type of players.

I can’t see McCartney going, and if he did this would be a bad move. But as you also stated Leonrivers ,or competition, and I agree with that part,he would be competition.

Would love to sign him, with a tally of 24goals in 80 apperances, this player is obviously dangerous in the box and must have a pretty decent strike on him a free transfer aswell i think go for it Curbs.
Also George McCartney is good but i still believe we need a better Left-Back so we should sign Nicky Shorey for £5.5m and Sell McCartney to Sunderland for £5m, then as a back-up to Shorey we should sign either Joe Mattock (Reported that we enquired about him) and a great yound English player or this guy David Obua who clearly has potential!

    Curs,

David is one of the best strikers though he was frustrated by the Kaizer coach.

David is the right man at the left flank, his silky passing and eye for goal is wonderfull. he has done that against Nigeria, Angola and SouthAfrica.

David is a very skilled winger whom i think will perform well in premiership basing on what he had showed against big teams like Nigeria,Angola,South Africa and lastly Manchester united which he has ever played against in the game that happened in last years pre-season match against man.utd in south Africa

As far as i know him He is the best asset when fully fit, much effort, team work and of late i have noticed he has turned into a fully grown professional. A good player on a bad day who can save the situation when not expected.I have seen him perform much better in midfield. ohh before i forget good dead ball guy- free kicks

Obua is even better than McCartney, cause he can play left back, left forward plus middle field and he is good at creating scoring chances. For more information you can contact me through that email address to send you Obua’s videos when playing for the national team. He also has love for the game, all what Obua does on the pitch can be controversial for any team to win

englands number 6 emits racial undertones. gone are the days when such people ever had a chance to talk football the universal language. Personally i believe Obua has something to offer westham, Allan was visionary to offer him trials and i hope it doesn’t stop there.
