A forward importance

If ever there was any more proof of the need of another high profile forward, then it’s now.

During last nights friendly against Ipswich Craig Bellamy was taken off limping in the first half, leaving Hines to replace him, and no doubt making many fans wonder if Curbishley is just going to stick with what he has up front.

At this level this may seem ok for Hines to come on to replace Bellamy, but he, as with Sears are still learning their trade in the premiership, and Cole for all his efforts is not a goal merchant. Which leaves us with a problem, and it’s one that Curbs has to address before the season kicks off…We need another proven forward, not just for starting, but for cover aswell.

  • totally agree with you Dave, i was pleased to see Ashton get his hatrick and build up his confidence, but what is more important to me is to see Ethers play well, and some great assists from Kyle Reid.
as for Bellamy, its a shame he was injured but it looks like just a 2 week injury from reports i have read, lets hope he is back for the Wigan game.

Im reading 8 first team players are out already? This is already looking like another repeat of last season. Im getting fed up with this now, im not going to watch a painful season throwing more chances to cole up front. This is what happens when you buy so many injury prone players. Also let’s look at our pre season matches playing the likes of Cambridge, Thurrockhampton & Richmond, Peterborough, Grays- not exactly the tests that other Prem teams are facing. I feel like the life blood of supporting this club is being drained away by AC & co. The sooner this managemnt team clears of the better. Things are not looking good for the new season. Ashton the only ray of light!

  • It is again plainly obvious ( maybe not to Curbs ) that we need another,or two proven strikerers.I,ve been saying that since the January window.or we,ll be again playing 4-5-1 football.Maybe we should swap Pards with Curbs.I don,t know if he wont buy or can,t.

First Nails you are being a little harsh, our per season games have been well balanced to give some of the young and new recruits a chance to bed in, the USA trip was designed around marketing exercises which i agree are needed today for global revenue. The other games and our remaining games have made logical sense. We have tried players both new and in new positions so don’t be too hasty in knocking AC, in honesty he probably has little to do with it anyway. Moving on he has little to do with new players either that is why Nani was brought in to discover Italian talent and why we agreed an out of court settlement with that shister Tevez’s agent to bring South American talent in.
However I agree with most of the other stuff, it is very apparent that we need at least 1 more proven striker ad perhaps a defensive midfielder for cover with the constant centre half problems we get and a creative midfielder.
Questons, where are Llundberg and Faubert, I havent noticed either for weeks and not sure Llundberg has even played since the European cup.
Colins, Gabbidon, Spector, Collinson and now Ferdinand all injuered again so do we have a back 4?
LBM appears to be staying although this must be because nobody is wiling to buy him and rightly said Cole is never going tobe a striker in the Premiership so why has he not been released, surely some championship side with ambition would be interested, QPR,Charlton (Again) must both be able to afford his wages.
ANyway I digress, can someone start a blog suggesting possible strikers for us to buy, For me Liverpool need money and I would love for Kuyt to come although unlikely.

  • AuusiHammer i think you mean post not Blog,
i dont think we have any money to buy seriously good strikers, the best we can hope for is a loan.
but anybody is welcome to submit a post on what strikers we should be looking at, thats if there is any left worth buying.

What do you mean well balanced -playing conference sides! How is that going to help four leagues away, i didn’t mention the states cause that was just a joke, and half of the kids will hardley feature next season- did you watch much of west ham last year, they are talents but wont be ready for a season or two -that’s why we have RESERVE TEAMS AND RESERVE FIXTURES.
Letting them play in a second string till they are ready. Look at Tottenham and alike, we should be involved in fixtures like that. How you can say he has little to do with fixtures and buying in players is quite staggering, maybe you like to tell me what he actually does because by your definition he just does some training and turns up on Saturdays. Consistent team selections or are you in favour of picking teams like SVG? And as for knocking AC -i will do what i want mate! This bloke had 15 years at Charlton and achieved nothing! and DON’T GIVE ME ALL THAT CRAP ABOUT STAYING UP -That’s his job! Im fed up of curbishley loving idiots the bloke is a joke and im quite happy to bet you he will be gone by Christmas. Get back to your barbie – think the suns done your head in.
