Boo Boys are worse than Hooligans!
I come from the days when Hooligans were causing all the damage to West Ham and
its credibility, today its the Boo boys doing the damage.
The last half of last season was a disgrace when West Ham’s very own supporters were booing not only players like Boa Morte but also the Manager Curbs and his Assistant Day.
As a football team we pride ourselves on tradition and history, in the 100+ years that we have been a professional club and risen through the ranks, we have never been so cold and callous as we are today with our own Team and Manager.
It seems that we, the fans, have to take control of what we want for the club which will make our Manager a puppet to us, and as supporters we do have the right to want the best, and eventually West Ham will once again be among the best, but until then we need to stop the Boos and the constant alienating of our own players and Manager.
Sir Alex Ferguson’s beginning years as Man Utd manager was from from ideal, but he soldiered on and the club went from strength to strength and is now undoubtedly the greatest club in the world, In 5 years, and this could happen to West Ham.
Lets not be like Tottenham and kill our manager off every 2 seasons, we are better than that., we always will be.
You cannot fool yourself into believing that booing is going to make the Manager and Players perform and make better decisions, we, The Fans hold the key to a happy club, Let us be the 12th player this season and sing instead of Booing.
We are West Ham till we Die!
Thank You C’Mon Yu Irons! for allowing some Fans to release our thoughts to the rest of the Fans by way of this blog.

Well said sir!!!!!!
lets get a top Manager like billic or martin oneil then the booing will stop curbs ant got a clue
Top post, absolutely on the money. The way LBM has been treated is shocking – as we all know, he hasn’t been up to standard for us and has fallen way short of what we expect from him, but to treat one of our own in that way is just not good enough from the best supporters in the country.
Lets all get behind Curbs and the boys on Saturday and create that intimidating atmosphere that all clubs dread coming into.
Despite all the doom and gloom we keep reading, we potentially, can get off to flying start this season and who knows where that can take us, but one thing is for sure we play a massive part in that start, so lets show our club how much it means to all of us and really get behind the lads.
booing our own club makes us all look like w*nkers!!!
stop the boo boys!
I agree with paul, get a decent “premiership” manager not some some donkey happy to sit in mid table safe from relegation, some one with a bit of ambition,is what we need
And changing the manager at this point of the season will do what? it does not make sense to do so, our 1st 8 games will either show us and the board if Curbs and lets not forget the players are really up for making this a better season, i will be happy with 6-8th place this season, it was only 2 seasons ago we was a yoyo club, things may be turning out for the better.
well said that man!
i was in two minds whether or not to renew my season ticket this year because i am sick of the negativity displayed to towards the team.
Upton Park used to be a place that other teams dreaded coming to, but nowadays opposing team’s managers use the boing to their advantage and send their players out with the message ’stifle the hammers, and their fans will turn against them’.
lets show some more of the loyal support that once made Upton Park a fortress
Why is it that evertime spurs make a new signing then we west ham fans stick the knife in Curbs, look at the money Spuds spent last season, and we still finished above them with our b team, what does that tell you about Curbs? safe and sensible
i’d much rather boo the spuds ;]
and of course ben thatcher. but what happens if curbs offers him a contract. gasp.
Absolute garbage!!! Paying huge ticket prices as well as other costs associated with watching ‘our’ team gives me every right to ‘boo’ the manager and certain players when they regularly show little desire to compete, entertain or show any competence I would expect from a professional footballer and/or manager.
You must be the idiots who bought into Terence Brown’s Bond Scheme claiming the rest of us who demonstrated against it were “a disgrace”.
Gets some balls and let the club, manager and players know who they owe their living to.
Paul, Tom and the aptly named monkey are the sort of people that have become the embarressment of West Ham, the sad thing is they are either too stupid to understand the effect booing has on a team or they just dont care, either way I wish supporters like them would go and support the Spuds then West Ham will again be a great club with great fans
i did’nt bother renewing my season ticket this year, due to curbishley still being here.
i think we have every right to boo,we pay alot of money and we don’t take lightly to letting in 4 goals v tottenham and chelsea.
if the players don’t like it….leave
we have a tight board and boring manager,so glad i don’t have to sit thought it this season.
how are things suppost to get better when we sell players like pantsil and we look to replace them with player like ben thacher. I will be shocked if we finish in the top 6 if we sell more players than we bring in.
west ham won’t improve on last years 10th place if we continue getting rid of players like pantsil and bringing in someone like ben thacher as a replacement. how are we suppost to break into 6th – 8th place when we get rid of the first team players from last season and bring in championship players?
Bent Thatcher – a perfect example of acceptable booing.
zamora and pantsil out
ben thatcher in
well done curbs, that’s worth it
how are west ham suppost to improve on last season when we are looking at players like ben thatcher to supposedly “strenghten our squad” and the hammers bosses don’t understand why we don’t want him to be a hammer. why sould the boo’s stop when we are getting rid of last seasons first team players and bringing in mid table championship players? if we continue like this we will be lucky with 10th place
I have noticed it is a minority that do the booing, the rest of the fans with intelligence are obviously dissapointed with some results in the past, but have the sense to realise its hard to beat a team when all you have is your reserves to use.
1. I think your a disgrace making comparrisons between people booing (making a noise) and the thugish evil violent, social scum that has sadly been associated with WHUFC over the years… a tenuous and weak strapline.
Get a Life!
2. Sir Alex Ferguson showed inept skills and serious talent by winning a european cup with small resources and players. (No disrespect to Aberdeen). Your comparison between Uncle Alan and Ferguson is laughable, and quite ridiculous!
We live in a free and democratic society and have the right to display either joy or disappointment!
Go back and get back into bed with Alan….he must be getting cold all alone!
Total Crap!
Lets give them a friggin chance – we have kicked a ball in anger yet and people are calling for Curbs head…..Top 10 was a good (not great) return last year, top 6 should our aim this year. I will accept that we do not play the way the West Ham teams of old did (LBM would NEVER have got into a Brooking era side) but I would give up some of the old classy football for some results! Give Curbs and his staff till Christmas, which is what they will most likely get anyway – after that we will be entitled to get on his back! UP the Hammers!
rodders, why don’t we all do as you do and bury our heads in the sand or skip along the road whistling showtunes? Unfortunately I live in the real world where professional footballers don’t go home to their mansions crying into their imported beer just because they’ve heard a few home truths.
if you believe, when we’re relegated at the end of the season due to lack of a creative midfielder and the continuing tactical ineptitude of the manager, it was the fault of those of us that vocally, publically criticised those responsible and that you can hold your head high for politely applauding everyone for their efforts, then you are, for want of a better word, pathetic.
A great club is one that values its supporters, that rewards those who have spent their time and money over a number of years with, if not trophies, then entertainment. I’m afraid it may come as a shock to you but football is not stuck in the ‘good old’ 1960’s and players do not have a pint with punters in the local.
I, unlike you it seems, have passion for West Ham and a desire to see the club become as successful as the majority of its fans deserve it to be. Perhaps you could go and sit with the ‘plastics’ down at Stamford Bridge.
For once we have some support amongst West Ham Fans. I agree with Rodders and his comments about Paul, Tom and monkey and with a bit of luck so called fans such as Terry will not renew their season tickets. Go and spend your money elsewhere.
Zamora and Pantsil went because they are not up to it and we got good money for them. If Thatcher does come, it is just for cover, thats all. And for all those self righteous fans that want Bilic, is this the same Bilic that cheated the great Laurent Blanc out of a World Cup Final place?
We will do to beat 10th this season, but it we get 8th or 9th it will be progress.
The appropriately named monkey has spoken again. I accept that you have an opinion but I cannot believe that an intelligent football fan will state that he has passion for his club then try and justify booing the team because he doesn’t like the manager. If he had passion for his team, he would get behind them through thick and thin. I am not a fan of Curbishley but I will give him a chance. Better him than Bilic. we all want success and/or entertainment but we won’t get it by booing. West Ham WILL NOT be relegated this season as monkey thinks.
Face it mate, you are in a minority with the rest of the boo boys. Don’t get me wrong, there is a lot of work to do at West Ham but 10th after being almost relegated was a start. You want instant success monkey but you won’t get it. If you can’t be patient then you clear off, not Rodders or loyal fans like him.
It is you that is pathetic, not the proper fans. Your comments suggest that you know little about football, far less about the traditions of West Ham. West Ham are a great club, they do not deserve fans like you monkey.
Jay-Alabama Hammer
10th place was good last year considering the well-documented injury problems Curbishley had with the squad. That does not excuse the manner in which the team played or was set out to play. “Negative’ just does not do justice to the style of play I witnessed last season.
I fear we will be lucky to get anywhere near 10th position this coming season. Whilst over the last few years we have lost creative players such as Benayoun, Tevez and, arguably, Llungberg(!) and failed to replace them with anything like the same quality, other teams in a similar position to us last season have strengthened their squads considerably. Wigan, Villa, Fulham, Sunderland and most notably Spurs are among those who will enevitably overtake us.
I am usually optimistic at the start of every season. Not this time.
Trevor H
Curbishley has had many chances. How many, in your opinion, is enough?
I have supported this club for over 30 years. Maybe you have done so for longer, maybe not, it does not matter – one thing I am is patient but I can also look back at previous downturns in our club’s fortunes and can see the same precursors to those ‘disasters’ occurring now. Just because I will not sit back quietly at our decline does not mean I’m not a proper fan and I resent the implication.
Top post. Not sure Curbs is up to the job here but I know one thing, the booing does not help. It does not give players a kick up the arse, it probably demotivates them (they are pampered and spoilt and generally don’t respond like men). It makes us all look like mugs and detracts from the clubs name as much as the poor results that spark it off. I’m not happy at all about the way we are playing so don’t give me any smart arse comments about whistling showtunes but there must be better ways of letting the club know we are not happy, than turning Upton Park into a stadium full of whingers. Like I said I’m not Curbishleys greatest fan, but one of the things levelled at him is his inability to attract players to Upton Park, well we are just as bad. I’m betting there are plenty of English based players who are well aware of our growing reputation for giving our own players five minutes to impress us before we treat them to boos and abuse and think to themselves… “West Ham? ..Not sure I fancy working there…….”
monkey
I made the point that there is a lot of work to do and there is. Tevez caused the club no end of trouble and although he helped save us towards the end of the season, his early form was indifferent. Yossi wanted to go, Tevez was too good for us. Yes we do want creative players but at what cost?
Saving us from relegation then 10th place. And yet you still condem Curbishley! How can you play attractive football with the injuries that we had? We ground out results with poor teams yet still you are not happy.
40 years I have been going to UP and at least 12 away games per season. That doesn’t make my opinion any better or worse than yours. However, for the first time in many years I am looking forward to this season. I genuinely think that we are going somewhere but it will take time. We do need to trim the squad of fringe players and reinvest.
We are not in decline. That is where we differ. I hope that I am right and you are wrong but accept that football being so fickle, who knows where we will be after 38 games? I genuinely believe that we are the 10th best team in the division but who knows? All I can say to you is that if you are a genuine West Ham fan, then you should know more tyan anybody that booing your team doesn’t do them any good at all.
Trevor H
Can I point out one game in particular that, for me anyway, sums up Curbishley’s tactics and the reason I started booing the manager.
Bolton, away, last season. Against a struggling side, one that hadn’t kept a clean sheet for a number of games and one that couldn’t score that many as well. A team that, very publicly, had reverted back to ‘route one’ football.
Mr Curbishley plays 4-5-1, packing midfield against a team that bypasses the middle of the park, with only Zamora out of position on the right wing (a left-footer on the right wing). Fair enough as injuries, as you say, have restricted the manager’s options. Why not 4-4-2?
Anyway the game starts and continues with West Ham getting battered. McCartney clearing off the line at least once, Diouf having a goal disallowed. Basically, nothing but one way traffic. Apparantly, Curbs is the only one who can’t see this and changes nothing at half-time. 46 mins – Bolton score. Nothing changes still until Bolton almost score again. Now, my memory of specific times is poor after half-time so try not to be too pedantic. What is sure is that Collison is taken off and Carlton Cole comes on so we can go 4-4-2. However, Cole – a right-footed striker goes to play on the left-wing, Boa Morte, a left-footed winger is pushed up front and we still have a left-footed striker on the right wing.
This match was not just a one-off. There are many more examples – Liverpool away. Please explain the rationale behind sticking by a manager who does this? I really would like to see some light at the end of the tunnel, I really would.
I hope I’m wrong too.
we are starting this season the same as last season with injurys such as bellamy and dyer and we are not getting people in to replace them we are going to end up the same as last season if not worse but not better.
Also Trevor, as a fan of 40 years I’m sure the best West Ham teams you’ll remember will have included a ‘flair’ player/creative midfielder… Brooking, Devonshire, Berkovic, Joe Cole, Benayoun, Tevez. We need that type of player. Who fits that profile at the moment?
well monkey we have got some players like that but i understand what you mean i personaly think we need to bring a star player, a creative midfielder or up fronter.
i’ll boo all i like and it’ll all be directed at curbs, especially when i see he’s picked boa morte again. how else would i show my complete displeasure having paid to see football and west ham. curbs and his decisions drive me insane. it also drives me insane when he blames the negative style of play and lack of wins on injuries, injuries of players that HE bought that came with a guaranteed sicknote for most of the season. the alternative to booing is to sit there and smile politely while biting your lip like a victorian era gentleman. i’m not from that era and curbs obviously needs some direction, lets face it, he won’t get any critical comments from mervyn day.
so again, i’ll repeat it for the hard of hearing, I WILL BOO ALL I LIKE AT CURBS AT ANY AND EVERY GAME UNTIL HE’S GONE. got it?
I think VerbalVolley has hit the nail on the head.
we can whinge all we want at the moment but it wont make any difference to the near future.
Curbishley has more or less cut his own throat by saying we should do well in the 1st 8 games, if after those 8 games we only come away with 12 points then i dare say it will be the end of him.
monkey
For Bolton away (you are right) how about Derby away, Reading away and Everton away. We should have drawn away at Chelsea but run out of steam. Liverpool and Man Utd at home? Have you forgotten these!!
I agree, we do need a creative midfielder but our away form last year is no different in my view to the last 30-40 years so why isolate this game.
I don’t like 4-5-1 at all but I accept that we have to play it in some games and if get a result so much the better. Lets hope for a good season and perhaps you should do as well monkey. Stop booing and get behind the team and give Curns another season.
i did not say the booing was right.give us somethink to be happy about
curbs had 15 years as Charlton manager.playing boring negative football now at west ham as a manager
a bigger club with all Charlton back room staff and players not the better ones like darren bent.all we need to do is change to red and white and a shit badge.villa have got nine english players so from this season and last .all the players that we were linked with or sold. but the players he got last season were bad injurie prone players on top money
U people who boo are jus Pathetic
why are people who boo pathetic? arn’t they aloud to show that they are displeased with how west ham are doing? i know i’m displeased, we get rid of pantsil who did much better than boa morte last year (who is still at the club) and look to bring in ben thatcher. he was total rubbish in his hay day so what’s he like now? i dread to think. and these sort of people are west ham’s targets for the summer????? perfect!! we are going to win the league if we keep on going like this!! Come on hammers sign more championship players!! i herd doncaster are releasing some of there players, go on curbs what a great signings they would be.
Why cant we cheer our team during the match making UP the kind of place teams dread to visit and then if the team selection/performance sucks boo them off at the end of the match?
You have right to boo, but you need a reason first imo. Give him 8 games and we will see. If he does not deliver, go and boo, but not from the start of the season or even before the start as it is not helping anyone (maybe opposition).
Anyway, what is all the criticism about? Curbs saved us and then finished 10th with milion injuries the next season. Not performing well? Give me a favour – he had half of the team injured and still finished in top half and above Spuds ffs.
Someone spoke about decline. Till we do not loose some games, there is no decline. You, same as me, do not know, how good we will be next season. We sold 2 players which would hardly play (and I do not agree with sell of Zman), released 2 oldies not worthy their high wages anymore, brought Behrami for 5 mil (sounds sensible business), brought few youngsters, signed new contracts with key players (Ashton, Linda). Seems all about right to me. Is the problem that spuds Spent awfull money and we dont? They did last summer as well and Curbs topped them with his B team……….
Booing boys are disgrace of our awesome club, if you ask me. We used to be famous for the atmo created at Upton Park and for awesome fans at Chicken run, but we are laughing stock because of booing army now. And as said by someone, it has already been used as a tactic by some opposing managers. Lets unsetlle the fans and they will turn against the them. So, think for a momment – whoom are you helping with booing? Not West Ham, thats for sure……..
U think booing helps a club move foward?? Into the European Places??
HOW EMBARSSING DO WE LOOK WHEN PLAYING AT HOME FOR THE AWAY FANS TO HEAR THE HOME CROWD BOOING AND JEERING THEIR OWN PLAYERS AND LICK THEIR BUMS ONCE THEY SCORE A GOAL?(NIGEL REO COKER V MAN UNITED)
OPTIMISM PLEASE!! JUS GET BEHIND THE TEAM!!
