I don't agree with the booing and do agree we should get behind the team and manager. In fact many fans did get in good voice on Saturday, but unfortunatley it didn't have much effect on the performance. The question is not that we should not get behind the manager,it's just that how long should we get behind him. We can't wait til christmas, because it will be too late by then, and I for one do not want our beloved club in yet another struggle.

Too right Brooking, agree to varying degrees with everything in this thread and it is our right to give opinions on our beloved west ham BUT when three o'clock on saturday (barring sky p**sing about with the fixture list) comes we have to be behind our boys- like we were on Sunday (superb effort, esp the conga!!)

I am a season ticket holder for the past 16 years, so Citizen 79, to suguest I don't see, hear or know what's going on is a tad insulting. Oh well, I'll get over it. ha ha. I don't totally disagree with anything you or anyone has said but this is a start of a new season, I'm trying to stay positive!
Yeah, so far Curbishleys style of football is dull, my only point is that he has done everything that was in his remit over the past season and half, dispite a crippling injury list. You can't blame Ashtons broken ankle or Dyers double leg break on being injury prone. Yeah, you can lable other players on being injury prone but saying all that, we have been very unlucky on that front.I just feel, that Curbishley should be given a fair chance to prove he can inprove the team in both results and style given that he has done so far, all he was asked to do. Maybe if the board had replaced him in the summer, I also would have been happy but they didn't. As being known as the once most loyal fans in the country, we should now get behind him and the team. Is there anyone on this blog that doesn't want to see the team do well this season? All this dispair so early in the season cant be helping the team or the situation

We haven't really played good attacking football since Dean Ashton came in. Think back to the way attacks were made along the left flank, all one and two touch stuff from Konkeshky (yes even him) at the back, fast and on the floor to Mullins or Noble and out to the whippet that WAS Etherington and then towards Harewood and Bobby Z. Fast two touch football that sythes through defences, for oldies out there remember the way that Brooking and Devonshire used to come down that side.Since Dean came in the whole style of play was changed to suit his way of playing and inevitably this often meant playing up to him more directly. Playing the ball up to a front man just gives it away. This change in style has it seems caused Etherington to become absolutely ineffective. He cannot beat the defender and normally receives a ball and either tries a cross which deflects or gives it back to the passer as a hospital ball. Basically he only has one foot and he seems scared of using that now and comes inside so we lose any width. The alternative LBM is not even worth analysing he seems totally inept. This has caused McCartney problems as he comes forward and gets let down by his front man. Ask Sunderland supporters how good a partnership Arca and McCartney were and he could be again with decent skills in front of him to overlap with.Yes Ashton is a good front man, but he is not an Adebeyor or Torres as he doesn't possess either the skill or speed. He is not our messiah, perhaps Bellamy will be if he can stay fit enough.Lucas Neil is not a good full back and makes too many rash challenges which have cost us dear. Blame Curbishley for not getting a decent left sided player and a new right back back assuming he has a free hand and the finance in place. If he doesn't and the board are going to balance the books first then what can he or any other newby do?
