Well, at least we got the result……………. Is that such a good thing?

I was one 10,000th of the total number of victims inside Upton Park last night, yes it was a midweek match, (but is there not usually something magical about West Ham under flood lights?) yes it was against much lower league opposition (not that you would have known that from watching the match last night) BUT there was an ominous gloom hanging over the place from the outset; like a giant group of clairvoyants, it seemed as if the crowd knew what was about to happen - no one singing to any degree worth talking about and an atmosphere that was embarrassing to say the least; fair play to the Silkmen’s fans, they gave it a good go and so did their team, playing the better football throughout normal time and had it not been for a decidedly harsh double booking and subsequent sending off for one of their players the outcome looked certain to go the way of the men from Macclesfield.

I must admit though, I did spot a beleaguered Curbs actually get out of his seat and wander around his technical area……….. that’s TECHNICAL area. Where technical decisions and tactics are supposed to be formulated, conducted, and implemented…. Or is that just every other football ground in the land?

The West Ham team was all at sea throughout the first 95 minutes, players seemingly unable to pass to one another, Hayden Mullins shooting from long range in an effort to score rather that risk trying to pass to a team mate in the final third……. Great tactics…

Yes, Robert Green didn’t have a lot to do, but every other player on the pitch looked disinterested, lacking fight and confidence: at this stage of the season, at this moment, we look like a relegation threatened team, how can that be after just 3 matches?

Something else that was very worrying was the number of fans that left the match at the end of normal time, hundreds of people streaming out of the stands to go home, having seen enough!

Kyel Reid and Zavon Hines did provide some relief from the gloom and are definitely two players who need a run in the team after looking hungry and lively in amongst the mêlée (from a Hammers point of view) that was this match

Lets give it a go at least against Blackburn, come on West Ham

Oh dear oh dear, what a shambles we are in, I have long been an advocate of not sacking the manager if no new money is available for his replacement and in my heart I stil feel that the players rather than the manager are to blame but something has to change and change fast. 10,000 fans, is that all??? I cant remember such a low crowd surely that is as clear a message as the Board could possibly need that some action and clarification are needed.Ferdinand now claims that his contract offer was withdrawn, i dont believe this and to behonest if he wanted to stay then why didn’t he just sign it and get it over with. More negativity and what does he hope to prove by saying it in the press, shame Ferdinand, why not just say thanks very much I appreciate all your efforts with me over 10 years that have resulted in me earning 50K a week doing something I love.I was actually going to write before the game and say that if Ashton and Parker were injured during the match and a central defender sent of we would not be able to field a team for Blackburn game and that was worrying, I didn’t because I was concerned it would come true but perhaps it should of done.We are desperately short of quality which was clearly demonstrated last night when we fielded a weakend team and struggled with possibly the worst team in all divisions. I know we blooded some youngsters and perhaps not the strogest side was put out but it was not that far of the players available for Saturday. I may be wrong but I believe, Dyer, Bellamy,Collins, Gabbidon, Quashi,Tomkins,Spector, McCann are all injured, Noble is suspended and cole (even though I dont rate him) is carry a few knocks. And that lot after 6 weeks rest, what hapens once they start playing some aggressive football.There cant be much selection going on, if your fit and have played before you are in with a shout of getting a game.It is not a case of bringing and blooding the youth it is more that we have no choice. Yes we needed to trim the squad and and I am happy with all the departures but trimming is one thing and decimating is another. We have no fit central defenders should Davenport or Upson get injured, should Parker not be fit our only central midfield options are Mullins and Bowyer and god help us in the event of Ashton being unfit as I cant see Cole scoring and Sears is just not ready yet as the lone striker.(we do have about 30 goalkeepers however so not all bad)We are not linked with any quality, Appiah is not fit and has a history of injury and Givet is average at best, as they want nearly 6milllion for him I just dont see what he brings beyond what Ferdinand offered.Oh dear oh dear, can it get any worse than Paul Ince smiling as he leaves Upton Park with anohter 3 points??????

I was thinking that it really was the end for Curbishley for a long while tonight. I like most it seems didn’t go tonight, I was keeping tabs through the live text on the official site. If we lost tonight, no excuses would have been good enough!
