Is this for Real?
Again it seems we are going back to our old ways, selling academy boys to cash in on what is supposed to be a good deal for Ferdinand.
Rumours say that Sunderland have made a bid of £6m, hardly worth it for such a good defender and a potential international again one day.
It seems to us all that promises at West Ham mean nothing, a new or redeveloped stadium, no chance! never to cash in on academy players again, no chance!
I can guarantee as soon as Sears is a 1st team international he will be gone too.
Where does it end? when does it stop? Ferdinand is a solid good defender, and we need to keep him, and why is it that we never keep an Academy player until he 30+ and then sell him on.

But he rejected a new contract! Would you be happy then, for him to see out the remainder of his current contract and leave for free??? You guys really should think about what your writing before it goes public!!!

Whilst I agree with most of this and definately DON’T want to see Ferdinand leave, it might not be down to the club? Anton has turned down a new contract, and we can’t afford to have him run down his contract and leave for zip?!However, £6mil is no where near enough, and moving to Sunderland could be the end of Antons’ budding career, he’d be foolish to go there…….

We offered him a new contract and he turned it down, what are we supposed to do let it run out and let him go for free. There is even a new rule that says if we dont play players for a number of games they can leave. So we have no choice but to take the money.

Do you think we shouldn’t sell a player who is not good enough just because he’s from the academy. This is no Joe Cole, Rio, Carrick or Lampard. He’s not and will never be in that class. We should only keep our outstanding youth graduates……..Anton isn’t one of them.

Anton is a bling bling idiot. he is not international class so sell him and move on.

Larry at the fairground, you sound like the kind of guy that i tell my kids not to talk to, why dont you just F*** off mate, your about as much use to west ham as you are to your wife and kids, get a life, you pathetic little dweeb.

I personally think this is great news, not that he is likely to go to Sunderland although I can see other clubs now coming in for him, Portsmouth, Man City, Blackburn and Everton all of which would be a good move for all concerned although I am basing this on the initial report I read saying 8 rather than 6 million. I cant remember the last time I watched Ferdinand put in a faultless display, mistimed tackles , out of position and rarely comands his box without the support of Upson who you may remember was similar money and half the Bentley brigade ego, doesnt go to a party in the States and sais his visiting his sick auntie in the Isle of White. There seems little point bringing on the youngsters if there is not space and presently there is not any space for Tomkins etc to come into, we cant keep everyone from the youths set up and at the same time complain we are not buying any new stars.I just hop this money will be re invested in a new striker, for me Kuyt at 16million seems good value, a decent midfielder, Alonso for 10 million and cover for left back, Madick( bad spelling) the young lad from Liecester. We can balance this if we get rid of LBM, Mullins,Cole, Bowyer, Quashi and Gabbidon. On a more realistic note we are likley to sell and not bother replacing anyone, Curbs will then bring out the “all my first choice team are injured “and to be fair it is justified, I must be the only fan that thinks that he has brought in some good players, Faubert, Berahmi,Parker and Bellamy. OK some bad ones as well but dont all our managers do that, even Rednap -Boogers the camping man,

Why dont we do what other clubs do and put a big price tag on him, 10 mill should do it. and anyway curbs doesnt like him although there is potential. And in any case he cost us nothing and if he goes its not as if its a step up is it, only the young academy players who left you cant blame for they all went to better clubs, bar carrick who went down in class to the spuds.

I agree with you England Number 6. A £10m price tag if he has to go, Sunderland will sell him in 2 years for £18m
August 18th, 2008 at 1:44 PM
AussieHammer - you have got to be on a wind up, £16m for Dirt Kuyt is a fair price? Even when they bought him for £8m and he has scored about 12 goals a season? £16m for a striker who has scored 12 goals? You are having a laugh. He’s awful. Even Curbs knows better than wasting that kind of money on an average player.

Let the over rated twat go!A total waste of space anything between 6 to 10 mill i would rip their arms off and chuck in boa donkey as well.He is always a liability in defence and we have a star in the making in Davenport and Tomkins.

Our Icelandic Saviors aren’t really saviors after all? They’re not the Glazers? NOOOO! I didn’t see this one coming.Come on. Never trust anyone who puts all their money into one place. Most of their money hinges on how the US economy is going and right now the US economy is garbage. So skint owners equals same old West Ham. I’ll bet we offered a less than market deal that undervalued the player just like we always have. Nani better have a couple defenders to pull out of his arse because if Ferdinand goes, we’ve got 2 healthy centre backs.Oh well, we can always blame Curbs.

Anton is quality!!! west ham people are crazyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FFS!!!!!

It seems that Anton cannot make ends meet with 2million a year! It is a shame but I reckon Rio put him up to this.
August 18th, 2008 at 10:33 PM
i cant make ends meet 30k a year which is 10k less than what ferdy was offered a week.
Doh!!

Rob, 12 goals a year when he only played 20 odd games is still 10 more than Cole is likely to score. last season he was restricted to support roles for Torres, he can play on either flank although preferred right, as a loan striker or as a pair. If A Johnson is worth 11million then i dont think this is inflated, more importantly he never seems to get injured unlike everyone else we have upfont, who do you suggest as this is never going to happen anyway. My guesse is we get some has been on the cheap who will play 6-8 games before Curbs sticks with Cole as a loan striker, for tactical reasons, that only he is aware of. Once safe lst year, December, we should of been using Sears and anyone else from the academy to see if they could cut it and therefore make a decision now about requirements. Instead we used Cole who although works his nuts of is simply not good enough

Anton is a overated TiT!!!!!!!!We have collins, gabbidon, upson, tomkins and davenport anyway so he won’t be missed.

Ok firstly, Anton REJECTED a new improved (3x his current wage) deal! Why? Because he is just another greedy, selfish player who is in this for the money and not the game! I for one, will be happy to see him go! And personally I think he is an average defender (nowhere near the standard of Rio) and 6 million is a fair price (although if rumours are to be believed, we are holding out for 8 million for him) if not a bit more than he is worth! This is NOT a case of WHU cashing in on him, it;s a case of HIM not wanting to sign a new contract and stay with WHU.
It looks as though the SPUDS (Spurs) are in the frame for him too now, personally, as much as I don’t like him, I would hate to see him go to North London and actuallty hope Roy Keane gets his man
Why don’t people look at the bigger picture before making their posts?
As always, just MY opinion, do with it as you wish

Anton, although not great is a decent premiership standard defender. If his contract runs out and he leaves for free there would be uproar. I don’t see any problem with selling Ferdinand as long as we replace him with a better player.ps. How much fuc*ing money have Sunderland got. 47 million last year and there splashing it about again this season.
