Nani sets up Ashtons new Striking Partner
Aug 20, 2008 Transfer Rumours, Transfers, West Ham News
If all goes well, Dean Ashton could get a new striking partner.
Chilean international Sebastian Pinto AKA The Tank plays for Brazilian club Santos, Pinto has been invited by Gianluca Nani for trials with West Ham in the hope of securing a deal worth £5m.
Nani has been watching Pinto for some time now after hearing from Scouts that he could have great potential playing for West Ham.
Originally he was going to be a replacement if Ashton decided to leave the Hammers (READ HERE), but now it seems that after the Ashton injury scare last Saturday we would need a quality striker to either be on standby or play alongside Ashton.
Pinto has falling out of favour with his Club manager and is said to be looking forward to coming to England.
The deal will need the blessing of Curbs to be finalised.

sounds great, sign him up Nani.
certainly a physical player and got a bit a skill about him but his finishing leaves a bit to be desired.

For me it is not necessarily his finishing but more the physical presence and most importantly the competition. Whilst we remain with only one real option, Deano, and as good as he is I think firstly he may be a little complacent and more importantly other teams will develop ways to neutralise his effectiveness. I cant believe that any pro player needs the England Manager to tell him to stop eating Pizza, this should of been addressed internally 18 months ago. From memory, please correct me if I am wrong, we only scored a handful of goals from headers with set plays, at 6 ‘2′ if nothing else he brings a new dimension. To be honest i just want a couple of signings, lets hope this is completed and followed up with cover at left back and someone who is a little more creative in the centre and big. I feel that both Noble and Parker, who must be first choice at present are both a little short to impose on some of the big teams. Despite his known knee injury I see Appiah as a good fit for this position, if he is fit of course if not someone of similar elk.Re Ferdinand i hope he goes, the fact he is considering it sugests he is unhappy and that is the last thing we need in the dressing room. I also believe Collins has more attributes without the attidtude or stigma.
I agree Aussiehammer. If Ashton is out who scores? This team needs more depth at center mid, someone to create scoring oppertunities, similar to yossi. Who has replaced him in the creating role. Noble has shown signs, but Parker is too brittle to depend on. Hopefully Nani can pull some strings.
