That’s what will be going through the minds of Robert Green, Mathew Upson, and Dean Aston hoping for any chance of an inclusion into the England squad.
Fabio Cappelo was desperate to find some fire power to brighten up the England squad and wanted to look outside the top 4 for some raw talent, and what a better match to go to then Man City v West Ham, full of English talent.
I dare say in the first 3 minutes Cappelo must have been slightly excited with West Ham turning out some classy moves in midfield, but then man City turned on the pressure and played the ball from defence in 2 to 3 immaculate passes and running rings around the West Ham midfield.
What did Capello think? probably the same as most West Ham fans thought, What a waste of 90 minutes! and no chance playing for England

Poor Managerial tactics from Curbishley, as usual, caused this embaressment. My only concern is who do we get to replace him, and put us into Europe this season ?
We were bereft of so much … not just our midfield. This is now truelly a Curbishly team, one that can’t defend, has no balance or distribution in midfield, and Carlton Cole as his main centre forward … believe me here guys, he’d have kept Cole on and taken Ashton off after Nobles sending off yesterday …Good luck on wednesday night, cos I can’t see them even getting passed Mansfield. However … we may slate Terrance Brown, but how much money has gone to Jioorahbain, the Sheffield court cases, Brown himself and the Lundburg fiasco … no wonder there is no money for transfers …Finally what are we doing with a fourty plus strong squad …. how on earth hasn’t it been trimmed … just release players … gald I never renewed my season ticket after yesterdays fiasco …

Play Hines on Wednesday, and witness somebody that is willing to make good runs off the ball which will help Ashton considerably. He closes down well, forces defenders into errors, even if it only forces a throw in deep into the opponents half. But give him a go, you never know.
We are playing Macclesfield Tom, not Mansfield. Other than that you make a lot of sense. It is difficult when a team is down to 10 men and 3-0 was probably right. Noble was stupid because his rash tackle could easily have been a straight red with many refs.
