West Ham in chase for Man Utd Striker

According to Setanta Sports and French Media, West ham are in the chase for Louis Saha. He was strongly linked to join Sunderland but Saha has said he would much prefer to move to London.

West Ham could seal a deal with Man Utd for the services of Louis Saha, but they have stated it would have to be a permanant deal rather than a loan.

West Ham would have strong competition against Sunderland offer, but the Hammers would have the advantage of being a London club which is what Saha wants.

There is no doubt that the Hammers need a striker and Saha would link up well with Ashton.

The guy has class, of that there is no doubt, but do we want ANOTHER sicknote?

  2. Dave Hall Says:

We have enough problems with injuries as it is at the moment. We need someone with a clean sheet away from injuries.

  3. JMan Says:

Agree with both Jonny and Dave, Saha is a class but his injury record since being at the Mancs is dire, so we need class plus decent injury record. Curbs must know that if he doesn’t get it right and improve on last year then he is finished at UP and BG must realise he needs to invest to keep up with our rivals if his 5 year plan is going to be realised. Only 26 days left until close of transfer window, so I hope they have some good irons (forgive the pun) in the fire or I foresee a tough season and a change of manager.

DO NOT SIGN THIS MAN!!!!! Whether he is class or not - lets learn from history for once…. a good 50% of Curbs’ buys have had injury prone careers; Upson, Bellamy, Dyer, Parker, Ljungberg… and nearly all of these players cost us £6/£7m+…….

Lets start buying players who’ve had reasonably injury free careers and lessen the risk of us having more players in the treatment room instead of the football pitch.

Signing Saha would be foolish… and it would make us look foolish to every other team in the league, as it blatantly demonstrates that we’re not really doing our homework - and are still running the club like we did in the Redknapp era, when every single signing was a gamble!!!!

There is no doubting the ability of Upson, Bellamy, Dyer, Parker and Ljungberg - and I am glad we have all 5 players on our books - but lets not risk bringing in anymore players, no matter how classy they are, who have a knack of picking up frequent injuries - it’s simply not worth it.

I have this strong suspicion that BG is keeping close tabs on what Curbs is doing. Something tells me somewhere down the line before January Curbs is going to get the boot. Not just because of what may occur, but also because of the injury signings. I hope i’m proven wrong and hope Curbs proves me and others wrong..

I thought Nani was brought in to help find the talent in Europe that Curbs has little knowledge of at a price that would have BG dancing for joy; not seen much of that yet. Time for people to earn their keep methinks.

Ok Dave i actually think you are right, BG got rid of Eggy way too easy even though Eggy was a hero to the fans, so tell me what is going to stop him getting rid of a second class manager?

  8. Dave Hall Says:

I would love to see Curbs prove me and others wrong Joe, but I don’t think BG will put up another season like last year, and BG has a fair bit of knowledge and of the game himself. And if the reports are more than rumours about us being interested in Saha then this would be a further insult from Curbs to us fans after all the injury woes. If true then BG will have to adrress this situation not just for himslef but for us fans aswell.

Please Please Please let him end up at Sunderland - or anywhere else other than West Ham. He’s a has been of a never wazzer. He’s scored one or two spectacular goals in his time and became vastly overrated as a result. There are plenty of better strikers out there who would fit in to the team quicker and with more quality. Frankly I reckon he’d be as big a disaster as LBM has been - in fact the similarities in his style of play are uncanny - they both look like headless chickens on the pitch.

A reality check please. The oft-injured players mentioned signed by Curbs, were pretty much all under-valued in the current market. Looking back, even Upson, who many thought over-priced at £6mil. now looks good value. If and I realise it’s a big if, Dyer, Bell-end and all had been healthy last season, you’d all have been singing Curbs praises?

But lets face it, as fans, we don’t care how much it costs, we just want success, so quit whinging about how much he’s cost per minute etc. and support the Club.

Moreover, It’s debatable how many £20mil superstars would want to come to Upton Park as it is. When we eventually get a new stadium, and a bit of European footie on a regular basis, then they’ll want to come?

Keep in mind how much our rivals for the UEFA cup spots have spent, we’d be doing well to even be in with a shout!

  11. Dave Hall Says:

Fact was they weren’t healthy last season.A lot of fans were not all moaning because of the losses, it was also the boring football people were paying hard earned money to see.

  12. Dave Hall Says:

Wadsy why don’t you grow up you idiot. Notice a muppet like you don’t put who you support. And you can think what you want, your words are irrelevant to us hammers.
