West Ham Players are concerned!
Its just come to our attention that a majority of the squad are unhappy with the way the club is looking financially.
Bobby Zamora, a player that believed he would have his contract renewed and was let down at the last moment then sold to Fulham, spoke out to the media about what could only be changing room gossip.
He admits that the players at West Ham are concerned about the financial situation at Upton Park. Robert Green whom we all know is unhappy at the moment not being offered a pay rise is obviously one of the players, and other players are also concerned about their future.
As a fan and i also know of many other fans who are also concerned into why we really are not doing much in the Summer transfer window, Buying Berhami is fantastic, and getting Lastuvka on loan is great to, but we desperately need a winger and maybe a big name striker.
We also have to be ready for what could be a massive payout to Sheff Utd in September which could be as high as £40m.
Being unsettled as a player will no doubt show on the field, lets just hope somebody at West ham sorts this problem out and reassures the boys their future is safe and bright.

What a load of rubbish – they’re picking up their £40/60k a week, what will they be worried about? Rob Green had improved terms given to him last season and he has to stick with that until its time to sit down and review it.
Well done for giving the media something to write about though, nice and positive, that’s what we like to see
.
@ Steve
shall we all wear rose coloured glasses then?
So you woke up this morning with nothing to write about? Not a problem. Feel free to keep it shut next time.
@ Joe J
What are you talking about? We have a squad that is near full fitness and a squad that is more than capable of beating anyone, so we do we have to look for negatives? What has just been written has no substance to it all and with tosh like that been written for al to see, no wonder the press have so much fun with us.
@ Joe
As for the rose coloured glasses – I wouldn’t bother unless your entering an Elton Jon look-a-like competition.
@ Steve & Tophammer
You guys are entitled to your opinion and im happy with that, and i hardly think what i write will have much bearing on the press when its a post based on press rumours anyway, i, like you, have the right to voice my opinions and worries, hence why i stated this blog, like it says in the author page,
What possible evidence have you about a “massive payout” to Sheffield United?
It would be an extraordinary decision to suggest compensation should be paid for relegation based on the performances of one player; and that when every other arbitration hearing has ruled in West Ham’s favour.
Not your article alone, but I read some many of these stories, posted by ‘West Ham fans’ on various sites and blogs and they do nothing to help our cause.
This one was opened with “Its just come to our attention that a majority of the squad are unhappy with the way the club is looking financially” How do you know that? Because Bobby Z has “reportedly” said this? Prove it, where are the facts? Where is the evidence? Opinion and facts are two very different things.
Its a load of rubbish and read by thousands of West Ham Fans, its has no substance and credibility at all.
Steve – Tophammer & Swallowtail fans like you make me laugh, yu all live in little boxes that never see the real world, you only want to live in disneyland.
It is said that West Ham are making themselves ready for a big payout and if you havent read that you should use google now nad then, and as for the team being unhappy, well it is actually true, and i am worried about the coming season even if you guys are not.
Bobby Z has just got sour grapes at the moment and to be honest isn’t doing himself any favors by spouting such nonsense. £40 mil to Sheff Utd.? Where in the hell did you get that from? As far as I am aware the case has been closed and I personally don’t see how we should be liable to pay them a single penny in compensation, especially when you take into consideration that we have already paid a hefty fine. I don’t think a ‘world class’ striker is a requirement as we already have Ashton and Bellamy with Cole, Sears, Hines, and Stokes as back up. We are all aware that we could do with a stronger left wing. I’m sure Curbs and Nani are more than aware of this and are looking for a player who will operate well down the left side. COYI.
The reason the blog is here Steve is to get feedback good and bad things that maybe or are happening with the club, to which you have given, and thats good, i also take all feedback into consideration and that will help my own mind come to a conclusion on the matter. i wont stand for slander, hence why the comments are moderated, if it is a personal attack i would rather meet face to face for that over a pint, that would be more fitting.
@ JackHammer
You’ll be surprised at what you can fit in a box!
Of course they have covered the Possibility that Sheff Utd may get a pay out, what sort of business management would it be for them just to dismiss that? We are being taken to an arbitration court, which ‘could’ rule in Sheff Utd’s favour, we all know that. But we have still spent on players, which will strengthen the squad.
So the players are un happy, prove it…
What exactly are you worried about? Can you not see any positives for the coming season at all?
I agree with you Jo and apologise if you feel my comments were a personal attack, that was never my intention mate. I am a West Ham fan and as passionate about the club as anyone, but I feel there are too many negatives form the fans and not enough positives.
My positives are Bellamy, Faubert, Ashton, Behrami, Sears, Ethers, Ferdinand, Tomkins, Hines, Parker, Noble, Upson, and a good start to the season will make me a happy hammer
What, no LBM? That’s a surprise
Steve you did say Positives, but to be honest, i think ol LBM might shine this season, we will have to wait and see.
Fact is guys we need to sign some players sharpish – I’m getting worried, and I reckon a top striker, left back and creative midfielder are necessary to push on to 8th and above. Pompey, Man City and Villa are leaving us behind at the moment, and our owners need to start putting their so called money where their mouth is. For a multi billionaire, 40 mill should be small change.
Good shout Joe, what the dissenting supporters do not understand, and it’s understandable because at the start of every season there is a great deal of optimism, is that we are about to start a new season with the same squad that produced a series of inept displays that many supporters moaned about except for 2 SIGNINGS, that means that we are going into the league with the SAME PLAYERS! Has Carlton Cole suddenlt become a great player, I don’t think so, is Cqllum Davenport a world beater, I DON’T THINK SO! so what has happened at our club. I belivee that they have been warned that they are going to lose the day against Sheffield United and that has blown our transefer fund. WE CAN ALL HIDE OUR HEADS IN THE SAND, BUT WAKE UP, WE ARE ABOUT TO START A NEW SEASON, ANY NEW PLAYER NEEDS PRE SEASON GAMES TO ‘BED IN’ SO WHERE ARE THEY? Read and take it in, don’t shoot the messengers!
We have players coming back from injury: Bellers, Faubert, Dyer and to a certain extent Parker, he as fantastic when he played last season and he wasn’t fully fit. All of which will be like new signings. The board cannot justify spending more money on players, when we our wage bill is already way over the top. This is still the fall out from having to spend big to stay up.
Curbs never got a chance to play his full strength team last season, so why not see how we go with the players we have, because we have some top quality players already.
We have to remember, 2 seasons ago we were down, we had all given up and was looking at playing Bristol City in the Championship. Last season was a good season, compared to the previous, so to finish 8th this season would be progression and with the squad we already have that’s possible.
Steve,
Sorry mate you’re in cuckoo land, Dyer is out until December, if we were to lose Bellamy, and he has gone off injured tonight, we are left with a flat front 2, Ashton and Cole, is that inspiring, I think not. Cloe for all his indusrty is not a Premiership player, he doesn’t have the anticipation, he’s been tried and tested by other clubs and they didn’t rate him. If our game is going to be built on pace, you need players that can react quickly, apart from Deano and perhaps Freddie Sears, and he’s only a baby when it come sto experience, we don’t have anyone, are you going to play LBM there as a makeshift, hardly inspiring. Readers seem to have overlooked that I said months ago that BG wants out, he doesn’t wnat to put any more money in, without getting money out. AC, despite what you say about being down and out, will not save the day, watch and observe, we are gojng to be in trouble!
Dyer has been advised by our new medical team to complete a further 6 weeks of rehabilitation hasn’t he? Where did you hear he is out for another 4 months?
Bit of a blow with Bellamy just going off injured, but he maybe fit in 2 weeks (ever the optimist)!
I totally agree with you on Carlton Cole, he isn’t Prem quality, despite his efforts. Looks like selling Z man could have been a mistake!?
We aren’t going to be in trouble, we have enough quality to stay well away from trouble.
BG is a businessman, he wants us to become a self sufficient club – spending more money on players at the moment isn’t his way of running a good business. He’s happy to see what we can achieve with what we have, which in the long run could be a good thing for us. We need to be patient!
To be honest we didn’t have Faubert much last season, nor did we have Behrami, didn’t have Deano there much either, and Parker was out for some time in the season aswell. Despite what has happened to Bellamy, and we don’t yet fully know what injury he has, only eye witness speculating, we will have a better squad if we can address the issue quickly. In saying all this we do need another forward, and Bellamy going off proves this, aswell being blatantly obvious.
Good to see you back Ian
Ian Salisbury….Damn wise words and a man after my own, I’ve been saying the same for months with regards to BG & Curbs, we’ve the tightest billionaire owner going who’s not really prepared to do what it takes to make the club a sucess and a manager who reaslly isnt goint to do the business, even with a fully fit squad of has beens!! We have one or two players that really justify being at West Ham, the rest make up the numbers but just should bother turning up (only here for the money) There are a lot of people out there wearing rose coloured glasses with their heads in the sand, there are 10 teams far more capable the WHU who have spent money and three more that seriously have something to prove, so that puts us in 14th place bfore the seasons starts, and if Curbs churns out the same crap as last season, and yes it was crap for any of you who went to watch without the glasses on, we are seriously in trouble and wont compete, so stop going on about a top 6 or 8 finish it’s not going to happen, stop defending a half baked idiot of a manager who belongs in the Fizzy Pop league, stop slagging off people who have negatives to say about West Ham they are being realistic not negative. BG wanting West Ham to be self sufficient mmmmmm is he in the real world, it doesnt quite work like that, 1st off you need a full squad of quality players, then a quality manager who gets results, getting results give you a full house week in week out, a bigger stadium for more seats, more seats more money more money better players, bigger stadium bigger running costs, sucess brings euro football which brings more money then you need bigger players, bigger players mean bigger wages……..where in this process does the club become self sufficient, this all requires investment, lots of investment, you dont tell players to take pay cuts and cut the size of the squad down, all the best players will go else where, BG it’s about the money, players want money if you wont pay it someone else will and you cant compete inthe Prem with the Youth Team. We’ve spen 20+ million and sold 20+ million so investment seems to be all talk when it comes to the team, oh apart from the couple of players we’ve bought but them Z Man and Pants have left so am I missing something……….Get real we are in trouble next season!!
GJF – I don’t disagree with your comments but throwing money at the squad isn’t the only answer. Sure putting out a ‘youth team’ isn’t the answer but Man U did exceptionally well with there crop of youth players from the 90′s and if we’d managed to hold onto our crop of youth players from past 5-10 years I believe we’d be in a very different position, just imagine how the team would look now if that had happened, Rio, Anton, Glen Johnson, Cole, Carrick, Lampard, Defoe. We could be competing at a much higher level. So you’re right, a youth team isn’t the answer but keeping and using our youth academy players can really improve our chances for the next few years… We MUST reap the benefits of our next crop and not sell them on like so many before.
As for the current squad I agree we do need additions paricularly on the left side (both at full back and on the wing), a striker and most importantly a creative midfielder/playmaker. The thing is it’s now so close to the new season that any new players will have missed pre season with the rest of the squad and will be playing catch up!
I agree with some of the comments above that having so many players coming back from injury will be like having a new squad but the big question mark is how long can they all stay fit. Most of them have awful track records when it comes to staying fit for a sustained period and if they can’t stay fit we’re back in the position of using the crud squad players out of position to fill the gaps yet again (e.g. LBM, Spector, Cole etc.).
It’s not doom and gloom yet but I feel like we’re pretty much in the same position as this time last year. Which is not that encouraging…
It’s not throwing money at the squad it’s investing, football at this level is very fickle as are the fans you must be sucessful in a short space of time, we’ve now had nearly two seasons of scrapping through, last season we were lucky Spurs didnt win week in week out we’d have been further down the league if they had, the club needs a huge boost something that we never got and expected with a billionaire owner, what is he REALLY here for, are football clubs just a status symbol?? I own one!! I cant see the top players staying fit for long, and we really dont have the depth and quality to replace them, teams that are investing are going to be sucessful and in our current state all i think we will be is lucky, Curbs really needs to go and bring in an experienced manager who really understands what needs to be done, cant see that happening tho as it will require a pay off for the idiot, big wages for the new guy and money to invest, we used to be atraditional club it’s no use in saying waht if….cole lampard ferdinand etc we dont have em anymore, im not saying that youth isnt the way forward we just cant rely on one or two players at that level to compete against the likes of Man UTD Chelsea etc we really are going to struggle, Curbs did nothing for 15 years at Charlton he isnt about to re-invent himself now, he doesnt know how!!
