well after ruining my long weekend i guess this makes up a little. both offer a lot of experience, i’m guessing our youngings showed a lot of promise to curbs and the board in preseasson, i mean widdowson held off beckham during the allstar game so we could see him getting a few games in. i suppose a 32 year old striker is better than a 39 year old, this 17 year old looks good although didn’t really play in a good league. not forgetting the young defender we got from norway. if these signings, our youngster and our seniors back from injury show good promise then we could scrape a respectable mid possition until january. could have been better but could have been worse.

morning all from Aussihammer (time difference), I think we can read several things into these signings.1. The Board really is strapped for cash as we do not appear to of tried to actually sign anyone on apermanent basis, ie spend money2. Every player obviously does have a price, to be honest if I am paying someone 40K a week I couldn’t give a shit if his wife was happy or not and as a first team regular McCartney should not of gone, we have not replaced him just got someone on loan to cover we still have no cover for left back of quality3. If we really did reject a 10m bid from Spurs for Cole it shows just how incompetent the Board is to refuse it4. Curbs is obviously being undermined and kept in the dark5. Appiah is actually rumoured to be going to portsmouth not West Ham so that will come down to who pays the most in wages, unlucky west hamOk so we move on, I do believe we had the makings of a decent top half team if we can get behind the players, our home form should with the odd away win at the likes of Stoke, WBA ensure respectability this year. I hope that the Tevez affair will be concluded and free some money for January where additional quality can be brought in to finish the season. Come January we should also be in a position to evalaute the youth, make sure we have a first choice 16 or so and put the rest in the shop window for fund raising, (cole, lbm, mullins, quahsi, bowyer still to leave). Are they good new signings? time will tell, I felt Garcia would be a better striker but hey ho at least we have some cover and at 32 he should add a little bit different to the options and bring on the increasing wealth of potential striking talent we are amassing (new guy, hines and sears). We seem to be blessed with the next 4 fixtures and if we can get 7-9 points plus the 6 we have the confidence should start to shine through and better performances alround. The key for me now is to fully support Curbs and the players, ensure the Board are aware that this has to be one of process and further investments are going to be needed to keep up with Man City, Spurs, Villa, Newcastle, Everton and Portsmouth who are really our main competitors. If we can keep bellamy and Ashton fit, Dyer to start then bring in some of the youth we may even suprise a few.Thank god that its all over for 4 months.
