Di Canio is Nani’s Choice

Di Canio has come out and said he is hoping to get a call from West Ham regarding the now available job as West Ham Manager.

Gianluca Nani would be happy to have a fellow Italian in control of the players, Di Canio has just finished  qualifying for his coaching badges in the summer and said:

“I took the coaching badges in the summer and I would like to have a job.

“I am waiting for a job in England because my dream is to come back and I think there are a lot of good things I can bring.

“My dream team is West Ham. I keep the club in my heart. One day I hope to come back to London and sit on the bench at West Ham.”

Di Canio is a hero of the fans and would be welcomed as the new Manager.

Slaven Bilic has ruled himself out due to his World Cup challenge but a loss to England on the 10th could change his mind.

Much as I loved Paolo as a player I can’t see him lasting if the board interfere the way they did with Curbs.  I’ve been following the Irons for 43 years and at this moment I’m ashamed of them. Curbishley was never my choice to come in the first place but he kept us up, he said the first season would be one of consolidation and then the plan was to push on from there, he did exactly what he said he would. This board have acted disgracefully and have shown that West Ham are no better than the rest of football. It saddens me that the tradition of a family club has gone the way of big business. There is no loyalty in football and there seems to be very little honesty or respect.
Alan Curbishley has acted with dignity and has been let down. I’ve seen a lot of ups and downs since 1965 but have never been this disgusted with the club I love

Paolo? I think we’d be better off with Paul Ince! Actually…
My money is on Martin Jol.
    I’ve heard through the grapevine…

What has happened at west Ham why have they turned into a selling club, a year ago they were going to compete with everyone in the transfer market and throwing money around like confeti, now it is sell, sell, sell.

  • Dave Hall says:

Roberto Mancini is the best to bet on.

  • luc b says:

paulo di canio will probably become manager because of his flair, love for this club/business, and also for his nationality. i would welcome paulo due to the fact that he is one of my all-time favourite players and i no he will do everything he can to take the club to the top. he may have to take up anger management though because if the directors and the board have the same attitude towards him di canio will knock ‘em out!

  • dan says:

di canio would be a great manager for us

  • Joe J says:

Mancini would be a great choice, close friend to Nani and capello

  • Dave Hall says:

Di canio has not got the managerial experience to take over as manager, as much as I have great memories of the guy and like all of us, I think he is a legend at our club, he should not be given the job.

  • Dave Hall says:

But as a coach Di canio would fit in well.

  • Mr Moon says:

Anyone who thinks Mancini will come must be tripping.
He’s the ex-manager of a Serie A giant who six months ago wanted the Chelski job and we’re a club who can’t afford to keep George McCartney or John Painstil.
    Can’t see it happening myself.

  • Dave Hall says:

To be honest moon neither you or i or anyone knows whether mancini will come to our club, we can speculate all we like about finances etc but we dont know what will occur or what is truly going on.

  • OzHammer says:

Agree with Dave Hall, no-one knows what the hell is going on behind the doors at West Ham, clearly Curbishley didn’t know either hence why he’s gone. And to say “why have we become a selling club” – did I miss something here – we’ve  been a selling club for a number of years now !!!!!! Ince, Rio, Lampard, Cole, Defoe, Johnson, etc etc etc……

  • Jay-Alabama Hammer says:

Wingman had it absolutely right – I am 36 went to my first game at 10 weeks old (We played good football that night!) This is not the club I have loved all my life – I am not niave but the days of being at the helm for 10 years anywhere should not be a distant memory – Oh for the Lyall (and Loyal)days again. Shame on the Board – Good luck Curbs you did what you promised and you leave with your head held up high…Bet Charlton will have him back soon!

  • Gutted says:

Spot on Wingman. An absolute disgrace but it seems to be a sign of the times unfortunately. No room for loyalty or respect, it’s all about results. Paulo, an absolute legend, but the Board haven’t got the bottle to appoint him and I don’t think a lot of modern day players, especially foreign ones, have got the integrity and commitment to respect a manager who tells them how it is! He’d certainly be committed and it wouldn’t be the first time we took a punt on him but the stakes are higher now and I wonder how long it would take the boo boys to get on his back if he didn’t deliver straight away. Generally the game is too mercenary these days and to be honest, I think even John Lyall (God bless him) would struggle to deliver the level of success that a lot of people seem to demand. Everyone is too quick to get on players/managers backs. How are they meant to be able to perform when they’re getting booed. Fair enough, we have had (and still got) some that don’t deserve to wear the shirt but they aren’t going to get any better by being slated on the pitch. That’s just going to knock their confidence even more. The game’s changed, the club’s changed, the good old days of Johnny Lyalls Claret n Blue Army seem long gone. All the best Curbs, thanks for a couple of great days out. As for the future, who knows but “Fortunes always hiding” is the understatement of the year at the moment. Fingers crossed.

We got top money for both Anton and George, will people stop using these two examples of very good business as an excuse for curbs to hide behind saying trust was broken.

Are you saying we should have kept George after he handed in a written transfer request? – is this not what Jermaine Defoe did a few years back…. Come on people, put your “Realistic” heads on for a minute and get behind the club, we are supporters of West Ham United, that’s not going to change, but the playing staff, management and even the Board will over the years.

Anton Ferdinand was not a world beater; he was over rated from day one, as he was Rio’s brother, came through our youth system and was a local (ish) lad – This does not mean that we should keep him, pay him inflated wages; his off the field conduct was appalling and there simply comes a time when a player needs to move on for both his and his employers best interests.

When he first took over at our club, Curbs himself remarked that he has no idea of the foreign transfer market and that he did not have an extensive network of scouts…. This is surely an indictment of his lack of ability to manage and succeed at the highest level in a global market.

    Look at his purchasing history:

Boa Morte, Quasie for example – there are very few top quality signings, against a lot of mediocre players.

West Ham needed a change, this is/was totally obvious on match day after match day, lets see who comes in, get behind them and give them a fighting chance by supporting them whoever they may be.

  • Rob says:

Where exactly has Nani said he would like Di Canio as manager? One day perhaps, but not now.  Di Canio needs managerial experience otherwise it would be far too risky.

  • mike west ham says:

Paolo is unstable as a character, likes facist salutes, and basically bonkers.I loved him on the pitch because genius is close to madness and paolo hovered on the brink of both at times….My all time favorite player, I have many great memories of him…But as a manager all I can say is please god NO!

  • wingman says:

So now it seems McCartney didn’t put in a written transfer request at all. He suggested he would like a move back North, was told no and was going to stay. The board are liars, they sold the only recognised left back at the club after the manager had told him he wasn’t going. As I said previously, they are a disgrace

  • dmyeo66 says:

Personally I think Mancini with Di Canio as his no 2. Great man manager with possibly a great coach. Di Canio can learn from the master.
