Donadoni a Clear Winner

Firstly i couldn’t stop laughing and nearly wetting myself laughing when i read the Daily Mail EXCLUSIVE article about Donadoni being at West Ham, it was hardly exclusive it was published 2 hours after it was published on here at 2:31pm. ah well that’s the Daily Mail for you, absolute crap.

It hasn’t taken long for a clear favourite to emerge in the race to become the new manager of West Ham. It looks as if all bets are off are the bookies have shortened former Italian national coach Roberto Donadoni to just 1/2 fav It seems the Italian influence behind the scenes at Upton Park are about to dispense with tradition and appoint the club’s first non-British manager. If it’s not Donadoni then it appears certain the next boss will at least be Italian with 4 of the top 5 candidates the netting hailing from Italy. Next in line behind Donadoni are Roberto Mancini (4/1, Slaven Bilic (8/1, Gianfranco Zola (10/1 and Paulo Di Canio (16/1. The leading English contender is Sam Allardyce at 16/1.

I expect we will hear soem news about the new manager in the next xouple of days.

It seems to me its maybe not the board thats running West Ham these days but Nani, although I’m not sure what we need him for I thought they were strapped for cash but they manage to pay his wages for what? strange how the only contenders for the Managers job are all Italians don’t you think, I fear for the future of my beloved club.

@Bob We have made some good signings so far bob, all due to Nani, last season we spent a fortune on hospital beds for the crocks that we signed, this season we have spent around £6m on players with great talent, i think you will find that Nani is already proving he is worth whatever we are paying him.

Not gonna argue the point wiv ya mate but only time will tell, I just think they are looking at contenders that will be yes boys and thats why Paolo is not really in the running cos I don’t think he would stand for it and they know it, I like you no doubt just want my club to be something again but I have serious doubts whether that is going to happen with the present set up at Upton Park.

I won’t be impressed if it’s Donadoni, he was a complete failure with Italy and hasn’t exactly done a lot in club management. If it has to be an Italian then it should be Mancini and PDC as asst to take us forward but as Bob rightly points out are the Board prepared for men who’ll not be brow beaten and do as they are told.

As it happens JMan I make you right that would be a great combination, BUT! no I don’t think the board are prepared to appoint somebody they can’t manipulate.

Mancini wont be manipulated, he is meant to be having talks this weekend with the board, i would prefer mancini and Di Canio as asst but usualy what we want we do not get with West Ham.

No definately not anymore mate cos the board aint interested in the fans we are just there to make money for em, which unfortunately seems to be the way football is going generally today when clubs are being bought and run by people that know nothing about the game at all it is killing the sport as we all know it, I’m old school mate the players should be coming through from the Academies, you can spend fortunes on all the top players but whether they gel as a team is another matter.

Bob, times have changed and we have to move with it. It’s great having the youth out there, but you can’t field a whole squad of them, they don’t have the experience. And as for the you can spend fortunes and they don’t gel, we’ve not exactly broke the bank like the top four. Let’s just wait and see what happens instead of piling on the doom and gloom before our new players kick a ball and the new manager starts his job.

@Bob i have say bob that BG does know about football as he used to be a player for 1 of icelands top teams in his day, and now his grandson is a player for the same team, not sure what team.

@Sydneyhammer to be honest i havent heard anything from Mervyn which kind of surprises me as he was Curbs asst and good friend, maybe he has the sense to realise its best to stay quiet. :)

Fair enough Dave, I’m standing in the corner wiv me head bowed, no seriously I wasn’t talking about Hammers but football in general today like Man city just cos they have endless money to that doesn’t gaurantee a top team.

    September 6th, 2008 at 12:35 PM

must admit I was wondering about Merv been no mention of him at all.

    September 6th, 2008 at 12:46 PM

I agree Bob it doesn’t gaurantee success, but it is handy to have a chairman with a bit of cash to put around.I don’t want us to be a club that throws ludicrous amounts of money away, but a little goes a long way. Have to admit I was like most just after transfer window closed, I was ranting  about no signings, but after hearing we had sigend two later on I did feel somewhat better, especially the Di Michele signing. Just want us to give the new guys a chance.

    September 6th, 2008 at 12:51 PM

Don’t get me wrong Dave I believe they may well turn out to be really good signings especially as you say Di Michele, it would be great if we managed to get Appiah too he is a midfielder come striker and a no nonsense midfielder at that.

  15. Dave Hall
    September 6th, 2008 at 12:54 PM

Hope we do get Appiah, but reports are that Arsenal and Juventus are having a go at getting him aswell.

look its late ere in Aus and i am very pissed, barbie all day, typical aussi summer day. whoever we get, whoever we sign lets just get behind the team for a while, be positive and hope for the best, it is very clear we have no money, no ambition from the board and Nani is just a leach as is Duxbury. I am just praying we become so succesful by default that someone with money and passion comes in  to save our club, and that wont happen with an  italian manager. Free flowing football, honesty, integrity and loyalty thats why I follow west ham, lets get this Icelandic bunch of wankers out and get soemone with principles in, By the way, saying that we are close to signing Appiah is yet another lie to quite the fans down, clearly the deal is nowhere near done and he will probs go to Arsenal. Shame on EG, shame on the Board, please sell the club to someone who cares

Hi guys I’m back, whats happening anything like Mourihnio been seen at London Airport? I really think this is going to go against us and Donadoni is going to get it the useless twat!

  19. Dave Hall
    September 6th, 2008 at 3:11 PM

All quiet at the moment Bob, hope it’s not Donadoni. As usual skyports are doom and glooming us and calling us a selling club, and that big nose Rushie piped up and agreed. Like us these lot at sky don’t know the actual facts, but sky do like to stir things up as usual.

  20. Bob
    September 6th, 2008 at 3:14 PM

Your so right mate its all speculation the only ones that know are the Board and Nani, who knows they may have already made their minds up but we won’t find out till they are ready to tell us, I truly hope its not Donadoni too.

  21. Joe J
    September 6th, 2008 at 3:15 PM

Every club is a selling club, sky know naff all, where would any club be if they didnt sell of the rubbish players from the season before, not saying Mccartney was rubbish because he wasnt, but it was his choice.

Sky are like the daily mail… absolute crap.. i watch setanta much more unbiased and more intelligent.

  22. Bob
    September 6th, 2008 at 3:18 PM

To be honest you can’t believe anything in any newspaper cos they don’t know either, look at the conflicting stories behind McCartney, and Curbs exits.

  23. Dave Hall
    September 6th, 2008 at 3:20 PM

I agree Joe, I’m getting sick of sky and the Daily Snail. Now the Mirror is trying to stir things up by saying West Ham have told Aston Villa they will have to fork out 18 million for Ashton in January, yet there is not one quote in that article.

  24. Dave Hall
    September 6th, 2008 at 3:27 PM

Very true Bob,I get fed up with these papers, and why they keep on at us I don’t know. Our club has a great history and many great players have emerged from our club. Maybe it’s pure jealousy

  25. Bob
    September 6th, 2008 at 3:32 PM

Probably is mate, there are not too many clubs in this country that can match the History and players involved with West Ham and I doubt theres one that can boast only 11 managers in 100 years or so.

Hello, new to the site via e-soccer. None of us would want Steve McLaren as manager, and yet the board think we will be happy with the Italian version in Donadoni. He has limited club management experience, got the Italian job as he was the best of a poor bunch of applicants, and the Italian press didn’t rate him at all at national level. Italian McLaren!Mancini or Bilic would be my choice, and it seems they could both be interested but the opening has come to soon. Why don’t we just wait? Let’s be honest, we ain’t gonna be top 4, we probably won’t get UEFA through the league with the likes of City, Villa, Everton, etc. and given the likes of Hull, Stoke, West Brom, Wigan and Bolton we shouldn’t go down. This season is gonna be average at best so why not leave it with KK and wait for Mancini or Bilic rather then settle for a plodder like Donadoni? I’m not saying we wait until 2010 for Bilic, but I think after a few more qualifying games he will be receptive to a change.Grest site by the way.

Dave Hall: We are a selling club.  How else do you describe a club who sell two or three of their 1st team players that the manager has said he wants keep, just because you get a good offer - and then don’t replace them.
The board are now doing a deal with Villa for Ashton in Janaury for £18m, apparently. When is the selling going to end?

  28. Bob
    September 6th, 2008 at 3:59 PM

Mr Moon what newspaper did you read that in the “Daily Crap” or on Radio “GA GA” total speculation.

  29. Bob
    September 6th, 2008 at 4:01 PM

Oh dear you read too many papers Mr Moon!! or believe anything you hear!!

  30. Dave Hall
    September 6th, 2008 at 6:50 PM

If you check the facts Mr moon you will see that we have replaced McCartney with not one but two left backs, one of which is proven and is also able to play attacking football. As for Ilunga, the guy has stated on the official site he can’t wait to play for us, which shows hunger. And if you check more facts you will see that the Ashton article from the Mirror has no foundation to it, just lazy journalism made to stir things up.

There’s an old saying that says don’t believe all you read in the papers.

Rumours! rumours! rumours! and sh***y rumours too, I see Ronaldo on the platform at Chadwell Heath station the other day but kept quiet didn’t wanna cause a fuss, come on now the only people that know the ins & outs are the club not us or the papers.
