West Ham should forget the Olympic Stadium
Why would we bother with the Olympic Stadium after the 2012 Olympics in Stratford when it would be a much cheaper option to build a new stadium at the old parcel force site near West Ham underground.
Building a new 50,000 Stadium would cost us around £400m with £100m in grants, to demolish the Olympic stadium them build a new one would cost around the same but with demolition costs on top, and I would much rather a West Ham stadium was at West Ham.
The London Authorities should pay West Ham to take the Olympic Stadium after the Olympics or watch it turn into another Folly.

I agree with you Matty, now that they have found a way of disposing of the Gas containers and especialy as access to that site will be 10 times more easier than it is now at Upton Park, i can get the Shuttle from Ebfleet and be there in 15 minutes, whereas i had to change trains twice, and then a bus taking 3 hours.. Glad somebody has been doing some research on this subjuct.
I didn’t realise they had found a way of demolishing the gas coolers.
Anyway, either option would be a good one. Stratford would be a great place to have the new stadium, as would West Ham. Not sure the decision should be based on how easy it is to get there from Ebsfleet though, speaking as someone who still lives in East London, Stratford probably has better access than the Manor Road site.
Who said anything about demolishing the Olympic stadium and building another, all I’ve read is that the Olympic stadium would be 80,000 capacity for the games which would then be reduced to 50,000 for a Premier League club to rent. This is undoubtedly going to be cheaper than spending 400 million to build a new stadium at the percal force site – which by the way is encountering issues from the local council apparently.Â
