Just when things were looking bright
I am beginning to think we are jinxed, and soon to be hated by 1000’s of holiday makers who see us wearing XL Holidays on our shirts.
XL have gone bust, leaving 1000’s of people out of pocket and maybe a hell of a lot stranded on holiday.
An excerpt from the XL website says:
Customers booked with XL Airways Through XL.com or XL Call Centres
Unfortunately, customers who booked either through xl.com or xl call centres are not ATOL protected. Consequently, you will be ineligible for a refund from ATOL in respect of your flight.
Customers currently abroad
The CAA will be able to make arrangements for your return journey. As you fall into an unprotected category of customers you will be invoiced a fee on your return to the UK. Please check on the ATOL website (www.atol.org.uk) for details or go to the local airport ticketing desk where they will be able to make arrangements and inform passengers of the likely costs.
We have to find new sponsors so we do not have to wear the XL logo on our shirts, and West Ham should replace the shirts we have already bought with or without a logo on it.

it will be ok.
I’ve read that under the terms of the agreement if the sponsor goes out of business West Ham can look for another. Also, these deals are usually paid in three lumps over the season, meaning the club will already have had one lump and can now find a new sponsor.
I agree with you about the shirts but can’t see it happening really can you?

I read the same thing Martin, i bought 8 shirts home and away for me and the Kids, but i agree with biffo, i doubt if they will replace the shirts but maybe give discount next season for those that bought direct from the club as i did. To be honest i hated the Logo anyway, We should get Pepsi or Coca Cola to sponsor us, with all the media attention we get we should be able to get very good sponsors.

hopefully they should issue some kits without the sponser again

hahahaha, are you serious? how long have you supported West Ham. I was expecting to wake up and hear that an earthquake had flattened the stadium. If something good happens is it always tempered by something bad, that is the West Ham way and one of the reasons we love them so much;-)

Guys we are missing the point, BG is a serious investor in XL and has lost a considerable amount of money, no wonder no funds were available this year. It is not a simple case of sponsorship, BG with his billions now millions was prepared to let XL go into receivership, that sais alot about his present financial position. His Bank and his core asset has lost the best part of 70% in value in the last 12 months, his interests are rapidly depreciating in value and infact I can only find one major investment that has gone up in value, yes you guessed WHU. With Joorachabins continued interest, and he seems to be making more and more statements to teh press I can see him forming some sort of partnership with his backers (Iranian and Russian mafia money) t purchase the club. As much as I want to be positive with a great squad, new manager and Steve Clarke looks like being a fabulous addition, I think the next 6 months will see yet more change and be very crucial to out club. looking forward to tomorrow, first away win of the 08-09 season me thinks, Ashton and Bellamy with a suprise goal from matty
