We Want Di Canio not Clarke

Di Canio

We are to believe that one of the main reasons Zola took the job as manager of our great club was because of the emails he received begging him to take the job.

Maybe we should start bombarding the club and Zola with emails telling him we only want Di Canio as Assistant Manager and not Steve Clarke.

Di Canio is the man for the job and i do not have to say how great it will make all of us fans feel to see him on the bench with Zola.

With Zola’s style and Di Canio’s Passion it will be a perfect mixture for success.

Make yourselves heard and leave a comment, and we will send it on to WHUFC.

What are you talking about? Clarke will be a great addition to the staff, he has wide knowledge of the premierleague and has alot of experience working with world class players. I love Di Canio and would be happy to have him there as a coach, but at the moment i think Clarke will help to get us playing much better football. Hope Di Canio gets some role at whu asap though.

I really hope you are not serious here. Clarke will be a real asset, Most great managers have a quality number 2. Its often the number 2 who does very good work. Rice at Arsenal, McClaren under Ferguson are examples.
Like most hammers i love PDC and hope Zola offers him a coaching job soon.

Clarke is a top class coach, he’s the only continuity Chelsea have had over the last few years. All their core English players like Terry and …whatsisname? used to play for us…likes a pie, Frank somebody…anyway, they all love him (not ‘love him’ not like that…well maybe they do, who knows what they get up to in the showers)

So, I honestly can’t see why he would leave a number two slot at Chelsea for the same job with us. He’s a Chelsea boy through and through. I would be very surprised, pleased, but surprised if he came.

And what’s this e-mail address that was used to encourage Zola to sign up?

I think the board are scared of Paolo, let’s face it, would you like to be the one to tell him his contract wasn’t being renewed?
Having said that, I think they should put any fears like that behind them it would be a masterstroke of PR…. imagine the atmosphere when Di Canio steps into the technical area during a game?

All in all, after much rambling, I would agree, I want Di Canio not Clarke.

Clarke for me is a better equiped coach than Di Canio but who gives a shit about that, Di Canio is West Ham and Clarke won’t leave Chelsea so yes bring in Di Canio although I really cannot see Nani entertainng the idea, lets ace it nani and Duxbury did not even let paulo have an interview, shame on them

Clarke would be a good addition, success breeds success and that he has achieved at Chelsea could be a great help to GZ BUT PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let’s get PDC on board as well, you have no idea what it would mean to us west ham fans to have one of our iconic heroes part of the coaching team. I would love him as asst mgr if Clarke doesn’t take it. There is only one PDC and boy we could use his passion and winning mentality.

Clarke has great experiance at premiership level as a coach. He also is a mate of Zola and they know they can work together. PDC is a newly qualified coach and we do not know if a partnership with Zola will work. I, like most fans would love to see PDC at Upton Park but we have gone with Zola as manager and he will only succeed if he is comfortable with his coaching staff. Therefore we should back Zola’s decision in whoever he appoints. We fans need to get behind Zola big time or our club will never return to former glories.

Di Canio was a great player but do remember that he caused trouble wherever he went. He was very outspoken at WHU, often undermining the manager and the club publicly. As such he never played for Italy. He may have a lot to offer some club but surely that cannot be West Ham. Clarke is a proven coach at the top level and if we can get him that would be great. If West Ham want to progress we must stop being sentimental about our past players. My own personal view is that if PDC returned to the club now it would be a costly, short lived disaster. We need to employ a coach on ability, not sentiment.
Paolo was a great player for West Ham, but I for one would not like to see him back at Upton Park and would prefer to remember his talents on the pitch, not the endless sqabbles with all and sundry including the press and the management of the club.

I don’t know how many of the West Ham fans you are spekaing for. But certainly not all. We loved what Di Canio contributed on the field - let’s stay with that. We canät hava a fascist or a nutcase, who can’t behave as an assistant manager. We need someone who will be known for his knowledge, specially in the defensive play as opposed to Zola. Clarke will be a good name - or someone else. But certainly not Di Canio. No way!

I totally agree with you Trevor. We need to start moving forward and getting PDC in as No 2 would almost be like the Barcodes getting ‘King Kev’ in, it was never going to work and was done purely for the fans. Steve Clarke has worked with some great managers/players in the Premier League and would bring so much experience with him, he’s the man for the job for me. PDC is, and should remain a West Ham legend.

Guys, Paolo was a hothead and his heart did rule his head as a player but since when have you seen him in trouble off the field? He understands that there is a big difference between being a player and being part of the management team and I for one believe he can live up to that expectation, he loves thyis club and I do not believe he would do anything to harm it. I don’t see why we can’t have Clarke and PDC at the club. Clarke has been part of a winning team for a while, so he knows what it takes to be successful, he WOULD be a great addition and just the person GZ needs to be able to turn to with a massive wealth of knowledge and experience and Paolo would bring fire, passion, never say die attitude and would have almost all of us fans dancing in the stands. Shankly once said that football ain’t a matter of life and death it’s more important than that and that is exactly how I feel about PDC. Bobby will always come first, the reason how I came to this great club in the first place but then comes Paolo.

It would appear that Clarke has resigned from Chelsea so for all you doubters, this is indeed a coup. I can only assume that it is a mixture of a challenge and an enhanced salary that he wants to come to West Ham but who cares. Zola and Clarke has a better ring to it than Zola and Di Canio. Certainly it must be better than Curbs and Keen. Perhaps the board do intend to invest more in the squad and do have real ambition. Time will tell now.

Well said JMan and Biffo, Im 100% behind getting Di Canio as asst, and i bet so would half the academy kids who look up to him as a hero, just ask Fred Sears.

and Trevor how can you knock Keen, hes done wonders for this club, and anyway it was Day not keen as asst.
