I went to the wrong Match! West Ham v Bolton

Reading some of the rags makes me wonder if I watched the same match as the persons who wrote the articles.

The Independent headlines: West Ham 1 Bolton 3: Error-strewn Green hands Bolton an easy victory. Hardly an easy victory, West Ham dominated most of the game with some fine passing football and possession, I must have missed that match!

Fair enough Green did make a couple of blunders which in his case is very rare, we usually only see those kind of mistakes made my David James and without those blunders Bolton would probably not have won.

Zola was right when he shouted to lads on the pitch “Chin Up” losing confidence after a goal is what West Ham is renown for.

Green was not the only person who made mistakes, Noble and Faubert lacked concentration and led to some silly passes to the opposition.

Overall i was pleased with the style skill we played, Zola promised us entertaining football and that,s what we got, as Zola said ” Winning every game is not important, its not War, but entertaining football is” and to me, entertainment is what i want each season when i pay for my season ticket.

Great game, well done to Bolton but hardly an easy win.

I think it was an easy win. Bolton had 56% of the territorial advantage which meant that West Ham spent most of the time keeping possession in their own half - which will hurt no-one. Bolton had the clearest chances, defended the best and nullified West Ham’s game plan. Jussi had one save of note to make - that was it.

Well I was at the match and I thought that West Ham were poor and Bolton deserved the win. Sure Green gave them the first goal and only parried the shot for the second goal but you can’t win em all. Bolton worked harder than West Ham and they are perhaps not so direct as they used to be under Allardyce. You are right about Faubert and Noble and Etherington and Cole have played better this season. Still we have had a good start but there is a lot for Zola to do.

Well to be honest so far I think West Ham have been average, we had results against Blackburn and Newcastle even though we didn’t play particularly well, however we have yet again lost to lesser sides that we just have got to be destroying if we are going to make any headway up the league, look at Manure, Arse, Liverpool and Chelski, they go to town on these lower sides and rack up their goal difference. If we are to imrpove as a side and challenge for a European place we have to be beating the bottom six or seven sides convincingly by three or four goals, to lose to West Brom, Watford, Bolton is just not good enough. We now have two weeks off before facing a very good Hull side, then its Arsenal and then Mancs, to be honest I think we are looking at three losses here if we carry on playing like this - we have no width, Faubert passes the ball or tries to cross it rather than taking a defender on, Etherington and Ilunga were the only two players for me that were trying to get the ball into the box. I can see where we are missing Ljungberg on the righ hand side, at least when he had the ball he went forwards, not sure why Behrami is playing inside he’s not getting wide enough on the right to go forwards, Parker and Noble were out of sorts but then Bolton played a five man midfield to strangle the game. Why didn’t Zola change tactics at half time and go back to a 4-4-2 with Bellamy and DiMichele up front ??? Oh well, I guess I shouldn’t be surprised really as this is typical of our West Ham….

I don’t know why but I never feel comfortable when the opposition are in attack. Even in the game against Newcastle when they scored i felt like they could score another  quick goal, we seem to lapse in concertration more than most and against B.W on sunday did’nt look very threatening in attack. Hope the players can adjust quickly to Zolas game plan. Would like to see Bellamy fit along with Sears using their pace and Cole up front in a three pronged attack, see how that goes.
