The 6 players to go in January!

A financial crisis has hit West Ham and the club will respond accordingly, we may even see a substantial rise in ticket prices next season if a massive payout is awarded to Sheffield Utd, until then like any business we have to slimline the club to balance the books.

Zola has said he prefers Quality to Quantity so the 6 players we at COYI feel that should go in January are Danny Gabbidon, Nigel Quashie, Calum Davenport, Jonathan Spector, Lee Bowyer and Luis Boa Morte.

The only other answer to our problems is that BG sells the club to another billionaire.

I just wish BG would just sell the club, cos we are being screwed over!!  He can cash in make $150m and be done with it.  There are plenty of bidders, seriously i would just take tht Indian guy who is the sixth richest man in the world.  BG wont make anything at our club so he is better off just cashing in.  Let’s get some1 in who can afford to do something, like buy a couple of quality players without having to sell our best 6.  This is so painful becos we have a really good chance to really push on and achieve something, plz dont fuck it up again.  At least if we get dudded for Sheff U issue as well there will be some1 who can pay it w/o it stuffing us up completely.

How about getting rid of Ashton one of the most overrated players we have ever had in fact he is another Sandy Clark.

Personally I think BG should sell if the right bid is put in and the new buyer wants to inject money into the club. It’s evident that although he says he is committed to the club, there is no money readily available in January. It’s all fine them saying we need to sell players before we can buy, but the fact is will they be able to sell these players in one month, whilst at the same time bringing in new squad members of high calibre.

I believe that a takeover at this point can only do more harm then good, what will happen to the likes of Gianfranco Zola and Gianluca Nani and the new medical team if a new chairman comes in and decides a new team needs to be instated. But if Bjorgolfur Gudmundsson cannot afford to take us on any more, Anil Ambani is the man to take us forward, 6th richest man in the world , double the money of Mr Abramovich, can West Ham be another Man City competing the top four for once …. who knows, guess we will find out in the next month or so.If six players are to leave then i believe Calum Davenport, and James Collins should not be in that six, after the start this year Davenport shows he has quality and can provide a threat going forward for corners and Collins is a great backing player and push pressure for the starting berth, while Spector is a great young spare player who can adapt to practically any position if needed to as we saw under Curbishley.
    To go:
    GK - Jimmy Walker £free
    LM - Kyel Reid
    LM - Luis Boa Morte - £3M
    CM - Nigel Quashie - £500k
    CM - Lee Bowyer - £500k

    In
    Diego Tristan - Free
    Stephen Appiah - Free

Bit harsh to put Gabbs on there, he;ll be great when he gets back in contention.  It was the same with Zamora, people were saying he should go ‘cos he hasn’t been in the first team but he was injured.  Still think it was a mistake letting him go. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with selling players before you get new ones in.  Sound business principles will be the long term success of the club.  Difficult to predict what will happen in these turbulent financial times but the squad is definitely too big for effective coaching to take place.  I’m glad that Quashie is on the move, I hope he does well at Birmingham.

I get your point Lee, but there’s nothing to say the new owners would throw out Nani or Zola, he would know this would cause instability. As for the Stephen Appiah coming to us, have you seen what wages he wants. I’m not saying I want BG to go, and he has invested a lot of money in the club, but if we won’t be able to sell the players we don’t need and bring in players we do still need in one month, where does that leave us. Ashton is yet again crocked, Bellamy will always be a risk factor on the injury front, so we are left with Cole, Sears, who is not ready yet, Di Michele who we have to see how he goes, and possibly Tristan, who is only temp. I have always thought Ashton is a great forward, but I fear he will never be 100% again. Andwe are lacking a creative midfielder.

I would add, Ashton and Dyer and Cole to that list, we need fit skillful players, even if we get a vastly reduced price we have to off load our injury prone players and move forwards, I think Zola should give Sears a start along side Bellamy against Hull, he then has DiMichele as back up from half time if we really need to bring him on, I think the pace of Sears and Bellamy to start a game off with will be a change, I’d also try a 4-4-2 this week with Faubert at right back and Behrami on right midfield, if its still 0-0 at half time so what, stick with it and let Sears show us what he can do. I also think we should take Tristan on loan, he’ll get fitter over a few weeks and some playing time, we can then negotiate a permamanent deal if he truns out to be a good player. We need to do more of this type of try before you buy with on loan players rather than jumping in with both feet paying through the nose for injury prone useless players.

I would keep gabbidon and Davenport and replace with reid and Neil. Neil only has 18 months to go anyway, reid doesn’t lok like making the step up. Gabbison and Davenport are both good squad players and Davenport hasn’t had that bad a start given he will need regular football before we see the best of him.We do have a big squad but much of that is made up with youth, at least 5 players on the fringe. I think we need to decide whether we are going to give them a chance or not and that means sticking them in from kick off, we also seem to have a number of others coming through so why arn’t we getting these guys out on loan at the likes of palace, Brighton and Orient where we can keep an eye on their development. I noticed ecently that they are not even appearing for reserves wich seems strange.

Agree aussi,If we’re not using the youth players for gods sake get em out on loan to Champ sides, look what happened with Jermain Defoe when he went out on loan, couldn’t stop scoring….We either need to get Sears on for the first 45 minutes or the last 45 to gain experience. Its no good giving him 15 minutes here and there how is he supposed to get into the game. He has the pace to take on defenders and is eager to show what he can do, let him and some of the others off the lead I say…

Why on earth would you want Gabbidon and Bowyer to go???? When they are fit you won’t get much more commitment and heart from anyone else!!!
