West Ham 0-1 Aston Villa – Lucky Lucky Villa
Another game we should have won but failed to do so, but we certainly did not deserve to lose it.
There is an old tradition that the 3 clubs in the relegation zone on Xmas day are supposed to be the 3 that get relegated, of course its not true but the thought of it still kills me.
I am finding it hard to believe that we use Carlton Cole up front instead of Sears or Tristan or maybe even both, my ideal selection would have been:
Green
Neil-Collins-Upson-Ilunga
Behrami-Parker-Lopez
Sears-Tristan-Bellamy
We did have a good game and a great passing success rate of 82% but the finishing left a lot to be desired, an own goal by Neill won Villa the game but defensively Neill tried to do the right thing whereas Green had little chance of saving the fluke goal.
I like Zola and Clarke but after watching the reserve match midweek and the goals that were scored i feel its time to give Sears and Tristan a start.

Cole works hard – but hey so did Marlon….Not enough quality to be a prem league player end of story. I would throw Sears up there with Bellars and try to play an extra wide player. We need goals, goals, goals – a good solid defense will not be enough to keep us up. I am encouraged about the footie we are playin, we looked like a top 6 side at times….until we get near the penalty area!
You hammers were bloody unlucky mate.
No worries, you ain’t going down.
fair article, but villa should have had the game sewn up by half time. if you can keep green and upson from bigger teams you’ll be fine. chin up!
