Chelsea eyes West Ham Duo

There is a strong rumour that if and when Chelsea decide to get rid of Scolari then they could be after Gianfranco Zola and Steve Clarke.

It seems that Chelsea are impressed with what Zola and Clarke have accomplished at West Ham so far this season and especially since Clarke came to Upton Park, and to be honest i cannot see Zola turning a job down at his beloved Chelsea but i am not sure if Clarke would follow after he was treated so badly when he asked if he could leave to join Zola and then West ham forced to pay a fee for his services.

Since Clarke’s arrival at Upton Park the players have improved dramatically on fitness and are not conceding so many goals, but since his departure from Chelsea, the Chelsea players are not happy with their fitness regime and to the point where Lampard and Terry have complained to Scolari.

It would be interesting to see how the Chelsea and West Ham fans feel about this rumour, personally i would hate the guys to leave, they have a great future here at West ham, win or lose.

This so called rumour was always going to pop up.
It’s just going to help fill a page here and there for sports writers no truth in it at all at this stage anyway.

Im a chelsea fan and I wouldnt say Stevie Clarke wouldnt come back, and lets get this straight he wasnt treated badly, he’s one of the top coaches in european football so any club wanting to take him would have had to pay a price, thats business and you shouldnt always believe what you read in the sun. If fact judging by Clarkies response when he was interviewed by chelsea TV after the CFC v WHU reserve game he attended then a return is highly likely at some point in the future. Clarke is was and always will be a legend at chelsea, he knows he’s loved by the fans and always will be. As for the little man hammers fans should already know how chelsea fans feel about him and how he feels about us and our club. For both Clarke & Franco Chelsea is home, a return at some point during the next 3 years I would say is inevitable and you know yourselves they’d come. To be honest, not that I dislike Scolari, far from it, I cant wait for our boys to come back

  • Budding Zola

I watched the West Ham v Chelsea Reserve game and when the Chelsea TV guy asked Clarke if he missed Chelsea, he bluntly said NO.. so ChelseaBlue you must have watched something else.
They wont go anyway,at least Clarke gets respect here at West Ham.

Even if Zola goes.. I can’t see Clarke going because of the way he was treated… So – Look no further. Steve Clarke would be a fantastic manager I bet.

    Budding Zola

The question that was asked that you speak of was “steve what do you miss about chelsea” the reply was “nothing” followed by a pause of about 10 seconds then he spoke again “miss the lads etc…” followed by all the usual chelsea related questions. Now if you know anything about steve clarke or heard any interviews with him then you’d know that was a typical steve answer, no expression, no emotition, christ the guy never smiles, he’s got a really dry sense of humor, it was typical steve. The last question was will we see you again, he said you never know, maybe, I wouldnt count it out. If you ask any chelsea fan if they think clarke will be back, you’ll get 1 answer and thats yes, he’s been before and it wasnt long before he came back.

You may get Zola if he comes up to scratch at West Ham over the next few season but I’m fairly confident that Clarke will be offered the mangers job when he does go. You might get one, but not the other.

In all honesty I think every Sensible West Ham Ham knows full well that if Zola makes the grade he will almost certainly be going to Chelsea at some point in the future.

Zola will leave before the end of the transfer period. west ham are in a slump.

Chelsea Rupert and of course your two bob Club didn’t ostracise Clarke and force him down the pecking order did they after you sacked Mourinho and Col the last West Ham manager that left for a better job was Ron Greenwood, there’s something special about West ham that once you’ve been at the Club a few years you find it hard to leave?

” there’s something special about West ham that once you’ve been at the Club a few years you find it hard to leave?”
the likes of Lampard, J.Cole, both ferdinand’s, G.Johnson, carrick, defoe, etc. etc. found it REALLY hard to leave. just like parker and bellamy will do!

Well with Chelsea leaking goals now like they never did before! Theyre must be something in this Clarke factor.

He obviously is a brilliant coach and i have never seen West Ham defence so water tight so i am convinced as well with the way the team is playing exquisite football it wont be long before Chelsea come calling for the pair but there will be a hefty compensation packet for Chelsea to pay.

Oliver how are West Ham in a slump?

If Scolari had rated Clarke he’d still be at Chelsea. Maybe he will go back there, but only as manager. Not as a translator for the next ‘big name’ foreign manager.

Zola will need 10 years of PL experience as a manager before he could even think of taking that job.

  • Hammersfan

I dont believe that Zola would want to go back to Chelski yet, it’s to much presure for an inexperienced manager at a club expected to achieve big things. No doubt he will return at some stge but it’ll be a couple of seasons yet.
As for Clarke I reckon when Zola goes he will take over as manager for the Hammers, thats if we’re lucky to still have him at the club as so many top managers out there rate him highly and say that he is already ready for a management positin.

Trust me, Clarkie would come back in an instant. Zola and him would be the ‘dream team’ for CFC fans and they couldn’t resist it. They’ve done a good job with you guys and got some good results, especially against us and Liverpool away. They look very solid and are playing good football at times. Roman has tried to get Zola to Chelsea as a coach before, but he said he wanted to come back as manager. He will come back, with Clarke. He’ll bring the football, Clarke will bring the solid defence.

It will happen, probably sooner rather than later.
