It was inevitable, Well done Fulham, Hats off to Spurs

Love it or leave it, this is West Ham, we could easily support a team that will always finish in the top four but no, we support and love  a club that will always finish mid-table or in some cases relegated.

Zola will be happy with 9th place  under the circumstances in which he has had to manage the club, Steve Clarke as an assistant manager is and hopefully will be Zola’s right-hand man for a while to come.

My only sorrow this season is knowing that Tottenham will finish above us, but hats off to the club for climbing from 18th to 8th place in a matter of 7 to 8 weeks, which proves Harry Redknapp next season will probably take Tottenham amongst the top six and hopefully Zola and Steve Clarke will do the same for us.

Well done Fulham and Zamora in having such a great season.

Next Sunday will see West Ham at home to Middlesbrough, Middlesbrough are facing a relegation battle and will need to beat West Ham at least by five clear goals. I would hate to see Middlesbrough go down but that is inevitable.

It has been a season full of ups and downs for West Ham but then it would not be West Ham if this was never to happen, roll on season 2009/2010 to see what spoils that will bring, or will it be another headache with injured players or the FA trying to stuff us up the Khyber Pass again.

nice to see someone is capable of not being an idiot on the net.

not too confident on redknapp getting us top 6 next season though

  • Rob

Have to admit, Harry did good for us.
    COYS.

the difference is 5 goals between hull and boro which means if hull get mullered by united which is very possible say 4-0 then a boro win will see them stay up barring a fluke geordie win

As a Spurs fan – well done to Fulham and they’ve certainly deserved it (Hodgson for Manager of the Year), and Zola has done a great job with West Ham this season too given the circumstances. We had a disappointing start, but London really hasn’t done too badly overall this season!

With Man City almost sure to be stronger and Everton and Villa already a level above the rest, can’t see either of us making top 6 next season, but who knows, we had some surprises this season.

Just want to say, mature article, well done West Ham. Best of luck next season.

Worst london club in premiership yet again. Once zola and clarke go to chelski west ham to be relegated

  • Adspur

    Harrys influance has been massive.

Makes a pleasant change from the chip on the shoulder postings that appear from hammerfan on Newsnow. A fair charitable posting. I would agree Fulham have had a great season. The common denominator Spurs and Fulham are managed by wise experienced English managers.

  • Sgt Wilson

Come on boys, as soon as a Hammers fan acts humble towards us we jump on it and put em down, fair play writer for acknowledging Redknapps hard work and not taking sly digs like these other blogs take (they come up on newsnow).

  • nice1cyril your comment did not make much sense unless you think the leading four clubs have English managers.
COYS I am not sure how long you have supported Tottenham, I gather it must be only a few months as you seem to have forgotten that Spurs finished below us last season, so you either know nothing about your team or even football or you would have known this.

  • nice1cyril

Joe you miss my point entirely. I have no desire to have a go at West Ham. I merely point out that both Fulham and Spurs have seen a turn round in their performances and that both have turned to experienced English managers. Its a shame more dont get the chance. As for Zola and Clarke I have a lot of time for both of them.
Oh and by the way I have been following my team since 1967! So well used to the ups and downs of following your team, but to old to get into irrational dislike of anyone who chose another team.

Fulham, West Ham, Spurs, West brom & Middlesbrough try to play football. The lack of money for the bottom two is probably the main reason for relegation. (sorry Middlesbrough if I’m wrong, but can’t see you winning at West Ham as you don’t score hardly at all, let alone the 5 goals thing).
West Ham are harmless with Zola & I can’t help liking them a lot more than Arsenal & Chelsea as usual. Good luck for next season but hopefully below Tottenham, wherever that may be?

  • Fair do’s Cyril, Another good point about London clubs is that 5 of the them will finish in the top 10 this season which is great, but how many of the players are actually from London and surrounding Counties? I guess that’s another Article for another day.

  • SESpur

Well done West Ham, Spurs & Fulham. London football is in good shape.. Just have to get through this boring summer break now with no footie!

  • PrinceH

The loss of Carlton Cole and Scott Parker was to much. Otherwise I’ve certain we’ve been ready for 7th now! They have been very important, maybe too important in a way, this season. Anyway, you go to be pleased what we have achieved comparing what was said about our team in October (bankruptcy, CC etc). Zola and Clarke has done well and their is a “go” and energy in the club that was never to be seen the last decade.

  • Billy the Yid

I agree H that you had some shocking luck with your striker options and that did tell in the run in when you needed to score goals. Parker I would not want to have to rely on a man that has shown all he wants is the money, Noble is a much better prospect and under the guidance of Zola will be premium. And the boy bleeds Claret and Blue. If ever you want to sell him I am sure Harry would rip your hands off. And he wouldnt have to move home.

  • Collo_spurs

I told everyone to watch out for fulham this season!
Spurs will do well this season, would have done well this season apart from 2 facts.
    1. 2 points from the 1st 8 games
    2. Losing at least once to every team in the bottom half of the table

  • Kimbo

Respect goes to you for writing an article that was not easy. I hope West Ham do well next season, although not quite as well as spurs. The things we have in common are that both our clubs have true supporters & not glory hunters & both clubs try to play the game as it should be played.

  • The Headmaster

    Great post Joe.
The wild optimist in me hasn’t given up entirely on Spurs lsing by say 3 – 0 up at Liverpool and us turning over the Boro emphatically but, realistically, yes it does look as though they will just finish above us this year.

  • Kimbo: you are a man from my own heart.
Headmaster: this Sunday will prove to be a day that everybody will be searching for somewhere to watch the game, well folks never fear GoalFanzine will be showing all the Premier League games, so make sure you bookmark the link for Sunday.

  • Hoxton

Well anyone can support a top team like ManU , it takes committment to support a team like West Ham or Spurs who are never going to win the league. Still we enjoy it more when we do win a pot or thrash one of the top teams and at least we don’t have to put up with arseholes like Ronaldo on our staff. I’d like to see Spurs get 7th but I can’t deny that Fulham deserve it, they’ve been better than us all season.

  • Not 1 comment from a Fulham supporter, Maybe they cant afford computers! or they cant read.

  • Bristol Spur

Bizarely always had a soft spot for W.Ham, as they have always tried to play football the right way.

Considering the financial position when he took over, Zola has done an amazing job pursuading players to stay and play out of their skins for him. For me its between Zola and Moyes for Manager of the season with Hodgson 3rd and Arry 4th.

What, how many trophies? with how many millions? and how many dodgy penalties?
Bovvered? No, has to be Zola or Moyes.
