NEWSNOWDean Ashton off this summer?
The rumour mill is not exactly over-flowing with West Ham stories in terms of the transfer window. Similar in this respect to last summer to date. (Actually, given that it is a ridiculous 3 months long it is more of a transfer chasm than a window).
I usually like to check out www.football-rumours.co.uk for a laugh during these lean times. Absolutely scant regard for factual information but mildly amusing nonetheless.
I did find one or two suggestions on the net that Ashton might well be off this summer. One source quoted an almost unbelievable £12m which I would bite any Chairman’s hand off for were I BG.
Any views out there?

you just know it’d be sod’s law that if we sold him, he’d have the season of his life so far and be injury free. i think we should keep hold of him and get a lively young italian type striker either on loan or on trial as cover should the worst happen.
Taxi for Ashton ! 12m would be fantastic money for a guy who has hardly played but i feel he owes the Club and Fans big style for sticking by him .Let’s get one good season out of him i say .

Hi think marleeen has a point but he has been injured 4 so long its time 2 cash in. i think he will never be the same player as he was and will always be injury prone. Plus if some 1 is stupid enough 2 pay 12 million then lets cash in and get some good fresh injury free young tallent. hopefully from italy.
I cant say i am sorry to see Ashton go, and cant wait to play whatever team that Neill goes to, you can be sure the guy will give us a penalty

I think maureen has a point. If Ashton is sold pre.season we would only receive a fee in line with his injury record over the last couple of seasons definately not 12M. A player with Ashton’s abilities and flaws will either return and play well or be injured after a few games. Whatever happens his value must now be at a low point, so why sell now? The other problem is his improved contract rumored at 50K a week,he won’t get those terms if he moves this summer so let’s stick with him, I don’t see we have an option.

I heard Ashton is off to Man Utd, for £5mil, with Frazier Campbell coming to Upton Park as part of the deal…….
When I say ‘Heard’, I mean I just made it up!
