Hammers and the England pecking order
My last post laid the foundations for where I am with Rob Green just now. Certainly Saturday’s sending off, albeit not Rob’s fault, has done him no favours in terms of his ambitions of claiming the number one spot from David James. It was compounded by the good game that James himself had, in fact.
Upson’s case, even though he didn’t play, could arguably be adjudged to have strengthened. Ferdinand’s howler for the opening goal, added to his recurring back problems and indifferent early season form for United, leaves me feeling that the door may well be ajar for Matty if not entirely open.
For some reason Capello seems to wish to persist with Emile Heskey over certain others, including Crouch and our very own Carlton Cole. I thought Cole looked good when he made his 18 minute cameo on Saturday and he even provided the pass to Rooney, following some good hold up play, that should have led to an equaliser for the Three Lions. Somehow though, you just get the feeling that it will be Heskey who gets the nod. Hope not!
