West Ham in chase for Man Utd Striker
Aug 5, 2008 Featured Article, Transfer Rumours, Transfers, West Ham News
According to Setanta Sports and French Media, West ham are in the chase for Louis Saha. He was strongly linked to join Sunderland but Saha has said he would much prefer to move to London.
West Ham could seal a deal with Man Utd for the services of Louis Saha, but they have stated it would have to be a permanant deal rather than a loan.
West Ham would have strong competition against Sunderland offer, but the Hammers would have the advantage of being a London club which is what Saha wants.
There is no doubt that the Hammers need a striker and Saha would link up well with Ashton.

West Ham Leaders in South American Striker Chase
Aug 2, 2008 Transfer Rumours, Transfers
West Ham are looking at 24 year old Mauricio Pinilla ex Hearts and Inter player.
The guy has spent most of his career on Loans but has a talent of scoring goals when he does play, which i
have to admit is not very often.
Plagued by injuries in the last 3 years has made it hard for him to settle at any club, Hearts released him on July 1st after buying the remainder of his contract from Inter, so now he is a free agent.
It would not surprise me if there was some contact between Gianluca Nani and Mauricio Pinilla’ Agency Passball, who represent the player, The group would not deny reports that West Ham are also in the hunt for the former Inter player, they told a media source:
“There is an English side that is very interested, but in addition there are three other teams that are behind the English club, but we cannot give any names yet,”
They also said that Panilla has had interest from Germany, Argentina and Portugal.
I think we should stay well away from injury prone players, we learned a valuable lesson last season.

Newcastle and Sunderland Battle for £7m Ferdinand
Jul 30, 2008 Transfer Rumours, Transfers
Sunderland boss Roy Keane is reportedly interested in Anton Ferdinand. The West Ham United defender
has been linked with a move away from the club for over two months; the Black Cats are set to make a last ditch effort to bring the England Under-21 defender to Wearside.
Sunderland will be expected to pay in the region of around £7 million for Ferdinand, who had been hotly tipped to join Tottenham earlier in the summer.
It does now appear that Sunderland have jumped to the head of the queue, after Spurs apparently opted to sign midfielders as opposed to defensive signings.
Newcastle’s Keegan will also be monitoring Ferdinand’s position very closely, and are expected to make an offer for the player very soon which may outbid the Black Cats.

Boa Morte to Sunderland for £3m
Jul 28, 2008 Transfer Rumours, Transfers
Media reports are saying that Roy Keane will be making West Ham an offer fo £3m for Boa Morte, now
that is definitley a decent offer for a player that just cant get things right at West ham.
I cant understand why Alan Curbishley thinks he has something to offer or the potential to offer something anyway, in some instances, and i mean very short instances he does show some talent, but always manages to fumble a tackle or a pass when it matters most.
We need to let the guy go and at least let him prove his quality to some other club as he surely cant show it with us, it cant be much fun being booed each week by his own fans.
As for Curbs being the 5/1 favourite to be sacked this season, i truly believe that will depend on his first 6 games, and we all know that Slaven Bilic is waiting in the wings to secure his job as manager.

Andrew Johnson Bagged for £10.5M
Jul 23, 2008 Transfer Rumours
Everton accept a bid of £10.5m for Andrew Johnson and Fulham have beaten West Ham to sign him.
West Ham were rumoured to be in the chase to sign AJ with Fulham, Wigan and Sunderland.
Andy Johnson was not included in last nights game against Preston North End and was not included in either the starting line-up or among the substitutes, which fuelled rumours he was on his way somewhere.
Its not bad news for West Ham as the club are trying to secure players that are not after high wage demands, and as a Hammers supporter i have to admit, i am glad we missed out on this signing, if the rumours were true.

Joining us or Not?
Jul 22, 2008 Talks, Transfer Rumours, Transfers, West Ham News
I would have thought that Eidur Gudjohnsen would have made his mind up by now about not only joining West Ham but also if he still has a career at Barcelona, if it be the latter then good luck to him, but if he is holding out for a better offer with West Ham, then we should look elsewhere.
One of Eidur’s conditions on joining us would be that he is guaranteed 1st team football, and that is something we know Curbishley is not going to guarantee any of his players, but if he is as good as he is meant to be then 1st team football should not be a problem.
I know its still early yet and there is plenty of time for new signings, but i do hope we do not leave it until the last minute and then pay what Gudjohnsen demands and then we find out why barca made the decision to let him go was that he just isn’t good enough anymore, so c’mon Euidur are you joining us or not?

Obua to play for West Ham Tonight
Jul 17, 2008 Transfer Rumours, West Ham News
According to a major media source in South Africa, David Obua gets a chance to impress West Ham United tonight.
The Article reads as Follows:
Obua (24), is in the Hammers side to play Hampton and
Richmond FC, a Conference side in a pre-season match at Beveree Stadium.
This will be the Uganda international’s final chance to impress and seal a dream move to West Ham.
Obua, who has spent the last eight days at Upton Park undergoing trials, has impressed the East London coaching staff.
“Now we want to gauge his match fitness and temperament,”
a source monitoring his stay in London told KickOff.com.
The Ugandan is a free agent after his contract with Chiefs ended on June 30.
However, Obua will not be part of the West Ham squad that embarks on a pre-season tour of the USA and Canada on Friday for two matches against Columbus Crew (July20) and the MSL-All Stars (July24). He will rejoin the team after its 10-day tour of USA.
“He is good on the ball, but we need to test him in the game. Although it is a pre-season game, it is sold out and it will possibly bring out the best in him,”
one of West Ham’s coaching staff reportedly told Julian Ferdinand, the patron of Proline Soccer Academy, Uganda yesterday.
Julian, who is also the father of two English Premiership stars Anton (West Ham) and Rio Ferdinand (Manchester United), reportedly offered some pep talk to Obua.
Obua has won over 20 caps for Uganda and was top scorer for the side with five goals during in MTN Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers for 2008
make of it what you want but we are to believe that Obua has signed with us and was awaiting a medical to finalise his contract.

Behrami Medical to finalise West Ham move
Jul 16, 2008 Transfer Rumours
The sale of John Pantsil appears to have made way for the arrival of Lazio right back
Valon Behrami from Italian side Lazio, as West Ham completed the signing of the Swiss international late on Tuesday evening. The player now just has a medical to complete in London, and is expected to sign a four year deal at Upton Park.
Behrami started all of Switzerland’s Euro 2008 matches; and is set to move to the Hammers and activate a transfer clause whereby the club will only have to pay a small fraction of the asking price of Lazio.
It is believed that West Ham will pay in the region of £3.5 million for the defender.

Newcastle Deal: Duff for Ferdinand plus Cash
Jul 13, 2008 Transfer Rumours
Keegan has his eyes on Anton Ferdinand according to Geordie Websites and may be trying to come to some sort of deal to exchange Damien Duff for Anton Ferdinand + a fee for the H
ammers defender.

West Ham are said to be asking for as much as £10m for Anton, a price that was much too high for Tottenham to consider, but Newcastle have come up with a solution that may be of interest to both clubs depending what fee West Ham are asking included in the deal.
Keegan is keen to build a central defensive partnership based on English under 21 players and Anton would be ideal to partner Steven Taylor.
Newcastle fans on the NUFC blog sites seem to be 50/50 about such a deal saying Anton would be great for the Magpies regarding his youth and style, but some would rather Duff stayed and was given a chance to prove his worth, as we did with Dean Ashton.
Personally i would want to give Ferdinand the same chance and with a full fit squad this season he may prove to be worth more than £10m as his brother was.
RESPECTABLE COMMENTS FROM BOTH CLUB FANS WELCOME
