Zola to be Knighted
Oct 22, 2008 Gianfranco Zola, New Manager, West Ham News
A ridiculous headline we all agree, kind of reminds me of the headline Zola to be sacked!!
Sky and Kumb announced announced that Zola is 2nd in line to be sacked, well where is the logic in this? and myself like any other West Ham fan finds any logical reason given by the above sources hard to believe.
Zola now into his 6th week as manager of West Ham has the job of making what some would call 2nd rate players into stars of tomorrow, for example Carlton Cole is much better now than he ever was, even LBM is showing some promise, Neill, Parker, Noble, Ethers, all are playing a much better standard of football and players that Curbs admitted he never heard of, Di Michele and Ilunga are fast becoming hero’s of the hardened fans.
SKY as usual are useless when it comes down to predictions and the SKY TV pundits are always slagging off West Ham United, so if SKY say Zola is up for the sack, you can bet your life that Zola will be around for years and making his West Ham squad into Premier League Warriors.
Who Knows? maybe the Queen will Honourably Knight Gianfranco Zola in the future for his services to English Football.

West Ham: Zola Wants The Elegant Killer (Video)
Sep 22, 2008 Gianfranco Zola, Transfer Rumours, Transfers, West Ham News
Its good to see the relationship between Gianfranco Zola and Gianluca Nani is proving to be a success, we all knew that Curbs was never going to be the best of friends with Nani or even agree to Nani’s plans on making the club a success, different cultures and different ideas on new players is why Curbs went, Di Michelle is a proving factor in this debate that makes Nani right and Curbs who admitted he never heard of Di Michelle and didn’t want the player along with Illunga, Curbs was more interested in buying Thatcher.
According to the People, Zola has asked Nani if he can buy Riccardo Montolivo in January, even though the midfielder has 4 years left on his contract with Fiorentina, the signature could cost West Ham something in the region of £12m, without any hesitation Nani has supposedly given the green light to Zola.
Zola has great knowledge of Riccardo Montolivo from when he was an Italian under 21 player coached by Pierluigi Casiraghi and assisted by Zola.
Montolivo has an incredible ability in midfield with all the style of Ronaldo and pace of Theo walcott and makes Modric look pretty lame.
There will be problems in buying Montolivo, his coach Prandelli finds that £12m is a poor price to pay for a player of such quality.

“I thank John Terry for the comment, but i work for West Ham now”.
When asked about Curbs the reason he walked out and how would he feel about players being sold behind his back, he feels the the whole of WHUFC must work as a team and that includes the board,
Zola is happy to be working with Nani and will report to him.
When asked about what style of football will West Ham now play
“My philosophy is playing offensive football, enjoyable for players first and then for the club and fans”

We should have Waited
Sep 10, 2008 Gianfranco Zola, New Manager, West Ham News
Aussihammer Writes
I think it says a lot about the Board that they were neither willing to wait for Billic and let Keen have a deserved crack of the whip in the interim or even invest with meeting Di Canio.
I can’t believe it has anything to do with experience as Zola has hardly been around management for long, It does a lot do with getting someone meek on board that the Board can manipulate at the same time as not being a fans favourite.
Can you really see Di Canio putting up with the shit Curbs dealt with over the last 3 months. If you are not going to give a manager money and power he must have something special to motivate the players he has, and I can not see anyone more motivated and driven than Di Canio, had the Board really thought about this they would appreciate that if things go bad we would of been more tolerant of a bad west ham with Di Canio than Zola.
Long term growth??? does anyone seriously believe that Zalo is here for the long term? why should he when he has no affiliation to the club whereas Di Canio may just of been a better long term prospect under the watchful eyes, and public face of Sir Trevor Brooking as a partnership.
If we were really going to give someone there first chance in Management then for me Zola is way down the pecking order.

Why the Rush for Zola?
Sep 9, 2008 Gianfranco Zola, New Manager, West Ham News
Why on earth are we seemingly in such a rush to appoint the new manager before the West Brom game? The timing of trying to talk to Bilic could not be worse as he is preparing for what is arguably his biggest game yet as manager so why not wait until next week and speak to him?
The appointment of Zola can only produce two possible outcomes that I can see;
1st (and most likely) he will make a complete balls-up of it and we will be no better off than we were with Curbs or 2nd he will do well and use his time at West Ham as practice for the job he really wants which is to manage Chelski.
Remember what happened when England went for their second choice? They got Maclaren!

Sold down the River
Sep 2, 2008 West Ham News
AussiHammer Writes
I have sat here for the last hour totally bemused. I believe we have been sold down the river by foreign owners only interested in the bottom line. Total sales best part of 20million, in’s 1 and I am told he was 1Million rather than the 6m quoted, which after today I tend to agree with. No new signings of any quality, several players released so pretty much as they said, trim the squad so we can’t be suprised. I do feel that Curbs has been lead a merry dance and totally undermined. I am sure that they would love to be a top 6 side, jsut as long as it doesnt hurt the immediate bank balance. My view, Zamora(25), Pantsil (20), Ferdinand (25) Llungberg(80) Solano (50) McCartney (25), Carrara (20) amounts to best part of 250,000 of the weekly wage bill, 12.5million from bottom line plus 15million in receipts from sales makes it a big turn around for the books doesnt it, and after all Bankers are just that facts and figure Oh to be a Man City fan where investment has pretty much been ongoing for 18 month with results to show. Decent manager and now a decent squad. Shame on the Board and Nani should be shown the door immediatley, he adds nothing to the mix other than undermining Curbs. Mccartney handing in a request after previously stating his desite to stay says a lot about the backroom atmosphere what a disapointment

The Answer is NO! - A new trend hits the Premier League
Aug 30, 2008 West Ham News
How many times have Premier League clubs lost their players due to international duty?
Players that are paid by their clubs to perform and win when they are needed.
Alan Curbishley amongst other managers are beginning to stand up for the club they manage and have told the internationals the players represent the answer is NO!
Craig Bellamy at 1 point seemed to be playing more for Wales then what he did for West Ham, (Slightly exaggerated) but the truth is he has just started playing for West Ham, Alan Curbishley according to Media is standing his ground and refusing to let Bellamy play for Wales, and rightly so.
West Ham lost Ashton for a year due to international duty and West Ham suffered because of it, it is only in the last 3 months that Ashton has mentally and physically made himself back into the perfect striker.
I think Curbs is right to say NO to Wales, Bellamy is not at the right match fitness for some 2 bob country to take advantage of.

West Ham United 4 - 1 Blackburn Rovers: (Video Highlights) Making Mince of Ince and Making Mugs of Us!
Aug 30, 2008 Blackburn, Matches, West Ham News
Paul Ince has never been forgiven by the West Ham faithful after wearing a Man Utd shirt whilst still being a Hammers player, today we did not care about Ince and his ill forgotten tendencies but cared more for what Alan Curbishley had to deliver.
West Ham v Blackburn
Today was a day to be proud of wearing the shirt of Claret and Blue, West Ham starting off with an early lead by Calum Davenport scoring in the 12 minute, and then Santa Cruz hobbling after a misplaced tackle in the 18th minute, all of a sudden Blackburn look on edge and struggled to keep up with the pace of Parker and Noble in midfield.
In the 20th Minute a pass from my player of the day Julian Faubert to Noble catches Ashton by surprise and also Samba who left back kicks the ball against Ashton’s inside leg to score, but the goal is classed as an OG much to the disappointment of Deano.
22 minutes gone and West Ham make the sad mistake of being slack in defence, instead of doing what Rio used to do and kick the ball as far as Stanstead Airport Davenport tries to kick the ball back into play, as a result Jason Roberts scores a fine goal sliding past the right side of Robert Green to make a well deserved score of 2-1.
Much of the game went from side to side on a very even keel with West Ham looking the least to score another goal, but when Bellamy arrived with an excellent exchange of players by Curbs you actually knew there would be more goals, and more goals there was, Bellamy in extra time and then Cole putting the icing on the cake to finish West Ham off into 3rd place in the League, Well that was until Arsenal played later.
It was good to see BG and his wife at the game today showing some loyalty and support.
A fantastic result for West Ham, and hats off to Curbs for producing what he promised with a fairly fit squad.
Hence.. do we really need Stephen Appiah?

BG you Money Grabbing little Banker
Aug 27, 2008 Featured Article, Talks, Transfers, West Ham News
OK so the first thing I have to do on behalf of my blog is apologise to Curbs
The truth is finally coming out about our new owner BG and his board, Anton was happy with what was offered for him with a new contract at West Ham until Sunderland came up with an offer of £8m and then the offer from West Ham was withdrawn and Ferdinand sold.
what is worrying is that who is next? The rumours about Bellamy are actually beginning to sound realistic, and what is worse is that the poor guy (Curbs) that this blog has been slating has really no control over his players future.
A post that was published by us here at COYI (Read Here) stated who do we believe was because Curbishley admitted that Anton was a part of the future for West Ham and then Duxbury more or less said otherwise.
How can we expect Curbs to deliver if he has such a problem with the board and I dare say Nani too, no manager would put up with what he must be putting up with now even though a majority of the fans blame him for bad performances.
BG, we at West Ham hate Terence Brown, if you sell our home bred players to line your pockets we will definintley hate you too, and thanks to Anton for speaking the truth behind the scenes.

Ex Juventus star arrives this Friday
Aug 27, 2008 Featured Article, Talks, Transfers, West Ham News
The West Ham board have agreed a fee of £5m for ex Juventus Midfielder Stephen Appiah and have sent staff out to Turin to finalise the deal.
Stephen Appiah should be at Upton Park for a medical on Friday and all going well he will be training with the squad during the weekend.
The sale of Ferdinand for £8m has obviously given Curbs a little spending power hence why all of a sudden after weeks of negotiations this deal is at its latter stages.
Appiah did have a long spell from training and competing in matches due to injuries, but now is 100% fit and ready to join the Hammers and to give Curbs some relief in an area that is lacking talent.
