Mike Lee O.B.E. (Director of WHUFC) is presumably the man holding the interviews.
Mike Lee’s Background:
When West Ham was 1st thought of as a club to purchase by Bjorg, he put the proposition to Eggert, who sent a 2 teams out to investigate West Ham’s financial status and to finalise a deal, 1 of the teams was Vero Communications LTD which is owned by Mike Lee OBE.
Mike Lee OBE of Vero Communications Ltd is now a director at West Ham and is also an Advisor in the world of communications and sport (UEFA -Premier League - and Olympics 2012) with his experience and contacts Mike will be a key figure that will help to develop the club to its next stage.
Candidates
Gianfranco Zola:
Zola is one of the Chelsea’s and the Premier Leagues greatest football stars, unbelievable skills and a fantastic tactician.
Zola decided to leave the players game, just a week before he turned 39. He is currently an Italian football pundit, though he also comments on European competitions. He has also been named joint coach of the Italian Under-21 side with ex Chelsea player Pierluigi Casiraghi.
Experienced Managerial Skills 6/10
C’Mon Yu Irons! view on Zola as manager for West Ham United:-
We are surprised that Zola made it to a top 4 choice, although he is a legend in football will he have the right experience to take West Ham forward as Manager.
Slaven Bilic
Bilic is a big hero to West Ham as Zola is to Chelsea but with a lot more experience as a Manager.
Head coach of Croatia, Bilic put an end to Englands chances of reaching the Euro 2008 finals, his flamboyant style of managing his team has taken the world by surprise and has taken Croatia to new heights in the Fifa ranking league.
Experienced Managerial Skills 7/10
C’Mon Yu Irons! view on Bilic as Manager for West Ham United:-
The chance of West Ham signing Bilic up as manager of West Ham is slim, Bilic and his family are heroes of Croatia and for him to leave the job as Croatian coach will definitely cause him to be hated by his own country in his pursuit of his dream job with West Ham, maybe after the World Cup in 2010 we might see Bilic as Manager of West Ham, but for now we must look elsewhere.
Roberto Donadoni
As a Club manager Donadoni has never really accomplished any success, In 2005, he returned to head Livorno in mid-season. After leading them to a surprising ninth-place finish and having the club in sixth place midway through the 2005–06 season, Donadoni resigned over criticism from his club chairman.
As the Italian National coach Donadoni succeeding Marcello Lippi who resigned after having won the 2006 FIFA World Cup. In the 2008 European Championship campaign, with Donadoni as coach, Italy reached the quarter finals of the tournament, losing against Spain. On June 26, 2008 Donadoni was subsequently dismissed despite having signed a contract extension prior to the beginning of Euro 2008, using a clause in the contract which allowed termination if Italy does not reach the semi-final. He was replaced by Marcello Lippi who returned as national team manager.
Experienced Managerial Skills 7/10
C’Mon Yu Irons! view on Donadoni as Manager for West Ham United:-
Fantastic player but as a manager of a club he has very little in the way of European experience and will he be able to hold his temper when the board get on his back, will Bjorg have to be careful what he says to him, and will Donadoni stay with West Ham if he achieves success with the club or will he be tempted to manage a bigger club next season.
Too hot headed or just a passionate guy, well whatever he is we at West Ham like this kind of Di Canio guy.
Michael Laudrup
After ending his playing career, Laudrup took up coaching, and became assistant manager of the Danish national team. He got his first manager job at former club Brøndby IF in 2002, whom he guided to the 2005 Danish Superliga championship. He chose not to extend his contract with Brøndby IF in May 2006. In 2007 Brøndby IF decided to name a new lounge at the stadium “The Michael Laudrup Lounge”, with Laudrup’s approval. He subsequently took over as coach of Getafe, Madrid’s third club, and continued his coaching career with notable success there. He brought the club comparative success in the Copa del Rey and UEFA Cup, and the team’s attacking style brought plaudits.
Experienced Managerial Skills 7/10
C’Mon Yu Irons! view on Laudrup as Manager for West Ham United:-
Not one of favourites, Laudrup is a great tactician and great with working with players, clubs have always acheieved some success under his influence but i cant see the West Ham fans being over enthusiastic with his style.
C’Mon Yu Irons! choice from these 4 is obviously Bilic but would take Donadoni if Bilic is unavailable.

Behrami Medical to finalise West Ham move
Jul 16, 2008 Transfer Rumours
The sale of John Pantsil appears to have made way for the arrival of Lazio right back
Valon Behrami from Italian side Lazio, as West Ham completed the signing of the Swiss international late on Tuesday evening. The player now just has a medical to complete in London, and is expected to sign a four year deal at Upton Park.
Behrami started all of Switzerland’s Euro 2008 matches; and is set to move to the Hammers and activate a transfer clause whereby the club will only have to pay a small fraction of the asking price of Lazio.
It is believed that West Ham will pay in the region of £3.5 million for the defender.

Ljungberg Retires
Jun 28, 2008 West Ham News
Sweden’s national team captain Fredrik Ljungberg has announced his retirement from international football.
In an emotional letter to fans published on Friday, the 31-year-old former Arsenal midfielder said it was becoming physically too difficult to play for both West Ham and the national team.
Ljungberg played his first match for his country back in 1998. His final game for Sweden was the 2-0 loss to Russia which marked Sweden’s exit from Euro 2008.
“I have decided to concentrate on my football with West Ham. This is where my priority now lies,”
Ljungberg said.
He competed in three European championships and two World Cups with the Swedes, before being named captain after the 2006 World Cup.
“The moment has come to let some other player take the number 9 jersey. Sweden has a lot of talented players and I am sure my place will be taken by someone who has the same passion for sport as me,”
he added.
“I have played in the Swedish midfield for almost

Slaven Bilic - Murderer in Italy
Jun 25, 2008 West Ham News
Im sure Slaven Bilic found this article posted in the Croation Newsmedia Javno a little bit humorous.
The Italian newspaper 24 Minuti used a photo of Croatian trainer Slaven Bilic to illustrate the news on Macedonian reporter murderer.
ZAGREB, CROATIA - The Italian newspaper 24 Minuti wrongly illustrated a text on the suicide of the Macedonian murderer reporter, Vlado Tanevski, with a photograph of the Croatian football trainer Slaven Bilic. The mentioned newspaper is issued three times a day and is for free.
Beneath the photograph of the Croatian coach there is a text which confirms that the the man in the picture is the Macedonian murderer from the newspaper Utrinski Vensnik, where the criminal worked.
The picture, however, was downloaded from the Croatian site Jutarnji.hr, and shows Slaven Bilic after the game against Turkey. The mistake was probably made because the Macedonian work ‘utrinski’ and the Croatian ‘jutarnji’ have the same meaning (of the morning), and probably journalists, graphics and editors have not been following the

Curbishley Under Pressure
Jun 17, 2008 West Ham News
The Hammers Fixture list should give Curbs a good start to the season, West Ham’s first 8 games do not include any of the big 4 clubs, so there is a possible big chunk of the 24pts up for grabs providing we have a fit squad including Bellamy, Faubert, Dyer. Read the rest of this entry »
Alan Curbishley is under a pressure after a mediocre campaign last season, and if the Hammers suffer a poor start to the season, moves could and should be made to bring Bilic back to Upton Park where he is considered a legend amongst large sections of the fans.
Bilic’s career as a manager has proved that he is more than capable of taking any team to new heights, West Ham desperately needs to improve its status as a top club and a majority

Capello: Beckham is my 1st Choice
Jan 26, 2008 West Ham News
Fabio Capello has dropped his first hint that David Beckham will be in his first England squad by asking his staff to contact Arsenal to find out about the player’s fitness levels. Beckham has been training with Arsène Wenger’s squad this month to get in shape during Los Angeles Galaxy’s close season.
The contact was made by Capello’s fitness coach Massimo Neri who also worked under Capello and with Beckham in the 32-year-old’s final season at Real Madrid last year. Neri has spoken to the Arsenal fitness coach Tony Colbert to get an idea of the state of Beckham’s fitness
ahead of Capello’s first England squad announcement which is expected to come next Friday.
The new England manager has given away little about what he plans to do for the first friendly against Switzerland on 6 February and has not spoken to any players on an individual basis – not even captain John Terry. While he has been able to watch most of them in action for their clubs, Beckham’s LA Galaxy team’s Major League Soccer season does not start until March. He has not played competitively since October.
For that reason, the player’s representatives asked Wenger, with whom Beckham has a good relationship, if the midfielder could train at Arsenal where he has now been working for more than three weeks on his own and with the squad. Beckham’s fitness programme has been tailored to his needs by Colbert who has been at Arsenal for almost 10 years.
Neri has been monitoring the fitness of all the potential players in Capello’s first squad and building connections with fitness coaches at all Premier League clubs. Fitness levels, and the monitoring of players, will play a significant part in the new Capello regime. So often a factor that is regarded beyond the control of international managers, it was attention to players’ individual fitness – on and off international duty – that was so integral to Jurgen Klinsmann’s Germany team reaching the World Cup semi-finals in 2006.
Capello is going to see Aston Villa play Blackburn today to cast his eye on Rovers midfielder David Bentley. Steve McClaren’s custom, as well as that of his predecessor Sven Goran Eriksson, was to name the England squad on the Friday before the weekend that preceded a midweek international. If that is still the case then there are six days to go before Capello’s next squad with the new England manager also expected to be at Old Trafford tomorrow to see Manchester United and Tottenham. He has still not yet given any indication whether Terry will continue as captain.
The Football Association announced yesterday that England will play a friendly against Germany in Berlin on 19 November. By then Capello will have played his first four World Cup qualifiers and will have overseen five friendly matches. It will be the first time England have played away against Germany since the 5-1 victory over them in Munich on 1 September 2001. Capello said: “This should be a great match. I’m delighted this fixture has been arranged.”
