Plea to Sheffield United and West Ham United Fans!

Both Sheffield Utd and West Ham United fans should put the Tevez saga and court cases between the 2 clubs at the back of their minds and just focus on the football on the pitch.

Sheffield United are now in contention of regaining their status as a Premier League club and West Ham with Zola are looking and hoping to finish in a European qualifying place, or at least in the top half of the Premier League table.

Let the clubs owners and lawyers worry about the court cases, as supporters we need not bring these worries on ourselves.

Both clubs are over 100 years old and have been through some very rough times in the past and survived. Both clubs have some of the most loyal and best supporters in the world.

Whoever wins these cases in the end are valiant for only 1 thing, and that is money and not a football result.

Comments with a sense of intelligence will only be published.

Merson says Zola has it all Wrong

Paul Merson has spoke out and said Gianfranco Zola’s style of football is what is making West Ham slide 1 point from the relegation zone.

Merson said this on SkySports:

What’s the point of playing nice passing football if it doesn’t win you anything? They won the first FA Cup final I can remember in 1975 and they won it again in 1980, but since then they haven’t won anything. They’ve clung to this way of playing since the 1960s when they had top players like Bobby Moore, Geoff Hurst and Martin Peters but I don’t understand why they keep doing it if it doesn’t achieve anything.

Merson who admitted that he suffers from addictions such as cocaine, alcohol and gambling was once a manager himself but failed miserably after the team he managed Walsall slipped from Div 1 to Div 2 and in Div 2 Walsall went out of all cup competitions against lower league teams, and it was reported that Merson had had a rift with his wife, and had started drinking and gambling again.

So should Zola take advice from Paul Merson? on how to ruin your life i agree he should but as a pundit or manager then you make your own mind up, i am sure if Merson asked the West Ham supporters how we feel about Zola and his style of play, the fans would say Zola needs time, after all, Zola bases his style on the team that Merson once played for and that is Arsenal.

Is Merson right about Zola?

Zola: Everything will be Better! Will Man Utd Suffer?

Gianfranco Zola speaking about his game with Man Utd tonight is as disappointed as any West Ham fan at losing the last 3 games but is not disappointed with the performance of his players and we have to admit, against Arsenal a majority of the game, we were actually on par.

Zola believes West Ham will climb back up the table and compete for a European place in the months to come, he said to the Media about tonight’s game against Man Utd:

“It’s never a good time to play them but we have to play them. We do respect them but we don’t fear them,”

he added.

“We are going to go there and play our game and we are going to try to win the game as we always try to do that. It’s a difficult moment but at this moment I’m sure the good teams come out.”

Zola knows that West Ham United could have possibly won 2 of the last 3 games but lost to silly mistakes, but praised the excellent fast flowing passing skills of his players, he said :

“I feel really bad about this because it never happened to me that I saw a team playing that well and then not getting any points for three matches but I know that in football things can change quickly,”

he added:

“We just need a game to get it right and then everything will be better.

“It’s a good starting point to play well, results are a consequence. That’s my philosophy and I will pursue it.”

Zola will have to do without Cole in his strike force tonight, his options are limited, so this could be where we see Sears play a some part of tonight’s game.

It is possible for West Ham United to beat Man Utd, it surely will be a game Man Utd will be taking very seriously if they watched the video of West Ham v Arsenal last Sunday, I am pretty sure that Zola will want a win and prove that his tactics are paying off, but a draw will without doubt please many Hammers fans and upset many Man Utd fans.

Bilic Rejects Tottenham

Tottenham fans were hoping that West Ham United star Slaven Bilic would come to the rescue of the bottom of the table club who have only succeeded in gaining 2 points from 8 matches.

Bilic told 5 Live:

“I’ve been linked with many clubs in England and all I can say is that it is flattering.

“But I have my job with Croatia and that’s all I’m concentrating on.”

Bilic rejected his beloved West Ham’s plea to join them  because he wanted to take his National team to the World Cup and win it but then admitted he would 1 day love to manage the club he adores.

The Spurs fans see Bilic as the perfect replacement for Ramos because of his influence on 2 of their star players Luka Modric and Vedran Corluka and the passion that he sends to the Fans and players alike, very much like Gianfranco Zola does for West ham United

Bilic went on to say:

“It’s hard to believe but a lot of good teams have been in the same position,”

“When something goes wrong, and then you get injures, red cards and bad luck, it’s frustrating.

“I know the situation they are but I’m sure it is going to get better. It’s a massive club and they are going to come back.”

As an outsider and West Ham fan i believe the Spurs problems lay with the players and not the Manager, these players need to gel together and predict each others movements on the field, also the language barrier is cause for concern too.

What a Player! 150 Games for West Ham United and Improving

Tomorrows game against Hull City marks the 150th game that Mathew Etherington will have played for West Ham United after joining the Hammers in 2003 from Spurs for an undisclosed fee.

We have seen a great improvement with Ethers under the influence of Gianfranco Zola and Steve Clarke and even to the point where many fans think Ethers is good enough for England.

Ethers is pretty certain to be included in the game against Hull City on Sunday and an early goal by the Hammers could be what ends Hull City’s magic start of the season and push West Ham into the top 3 or 4.

West Ham are only 2nd to Man City for Goals scored in the League which shows we have the players that can get the Goals.

My Prediction is Hull City 1 - 2 West Ham United

The Unsung Hero

Mathew Upson’s contribution to Wednesday evenings England game against Belarus was nothing short of fantastic.

Upson was called the unsung hero by football pundits last night after making it Virtually impossible for the Belarus strikers to score, only once was the back-line breached when Pavel Sitko scored to level the game.

Terry Venables has great admiration for Upson and told Setanta Sports:

“I’m very pleased with Upson, It was a really difficult game to come into. These can be difficult games and Upson did well”

Recent rumours about a fire sale at West Ham in January predicting Upson to move to Spurs for a unrealistic sum of £5m are unfounded and has many Hammers fans finding some humour in what has been a stressful month.

We Will Survive!

It seems the whole world has gone mad and just about every economy in the world is suffering.

The media are having a feast at the expense of West Ham’s problems ranging from our ex sponsors XL.com, Iceland taking over our owners bank, and the boring boring Tevez saga.

There will be other clubs in the Premier League thinking we deserve all of the turmoil we are suffering at the moment, but what they have to realise is that Britain’s devastating economy will effect every club and every man woman and child in the near future.

West Ham will survive this crisis, whether it be with BG as owner or somebody else, it is the fans who will make the club survive as we did in the 30’s and the war.

Bolton Fans show disgust at Gartside’s Claim

For those who read the earlier post on COYI today stating that Gartside is an absolute idiot for his claims that West Ham robbed Bolton of 3 points for fielding Tevez in the season 2006/07 game at Upton park will have noticed the comments made from various Bolton fans showing their disgust at Gartside.

1 Comment from Richie B says:

I have been a bolton fan all my life, and I have to totally agree with all the other comments. Cartside is an absolute disgrace to the club and the term “football”. Scores should be settled on the pitch, and not in boardrooms/courts where greedy chairmen look for any excuses to line their pockets with even more money. Goes to show what poor character Gartside has as he is now considering selling the club to overseas investment, even though he has spent all his “professional” life ridiculing foreign investment. Let’s hope we do are talking on the pitch this weekend, and have a good game for once.

It is good to see that the Bolton fans have far more intelligence than their chairman, and that football is for the fans and not the courts.

West Ham United v Bolton Wanderers should prove to be a great match and a win for either club will be more beneficial than a measly £700,000 would ever do.
