Lack of Ambition!
Nov 13, 2008 West Ham News
Lack of ambition is something West Ham are not suffering with under Gianfranco Zola, for 75 mins on Saturday West Ham proved that with more training and experience they can be a side to be on par with any of the Top 4 clubs, so Tony Cascarino’s article in the Times this morning proves unfounded when he stated the following:
The lesser sides are favouring cautious tactics more and more - not just against the elite but against each other. No wonder the Barclays Premier League table is so bunched up, it’s full of teams of similar ability acting the same way. What’s to separate them except a bit of luck, the odd flash of individual inspiration or a refereeing decision?
Every club including the top 4 depends on a little luck, the odd referee’s decision in their favour, and some flash of individual inspiration.
West Ham have gone 6 games without a win, but ambition, skill, and entertainment is 3 factors that they do show, only time will tell if Zola’s tactics are proving worthy of using, i beleive they are, and sooner rather than later we may see some benefits, lets hope it is against Pompey this weekend.

West Ham United V’s Everton (A Hole in Midfield)
Nov 8, 2008 Everton, Matches, West Ham News
Not quite the results West Ham deserved in their last 5 games considering how well the Hammers played, but unfortunately mistakes are made and points are lost, but the Hammers could turn it around by learning from mistakes and continue playing attacking football the Zola way, The return of Parker will be great news for the Hammers.
Everton is not part of West Ham’s difficult run of games. Everton are a good team though, Cahill and Arteta are doubtful for the West Ham game due to injury together with Fellaini will leave Everton’s midfield wide open, so West Ham definitely have a chance to keep it interesting. Everton will be playing with confidence after 2 x 1-0 wins. this match go either way.
PREDICTION LEAGUE:
West Ham United 2-1 Everton 55.5%
West Ham United 2-0 Everton 33.3%
West Ham United 0-1 Everton 11.2%

Zola: Everything will be Better! Will Man Utd Suffer?
Oct 29, 2008 Arsenal, Carlton Cole, Featured Article, Gianfranco Zola, Man Utd, West Ham News
Gianfranco Zola speaking about his game with Man Utd tonight is as disappointed as any West Ham fan at losing the last 3 games but is not disappointed with the performance of his players and we have to admit, against Arsenal a majority of the game, we were actually on par.
Zola believes West Ham will climb back up the table and compete for a European place in the months to come, he said to the Media about tonight’s game against Man Utd:
“It’s never a good time to play them but we have to play them. We do respect them but we don’t fear them,”
he added.
“We are going to go there and play our game and we are going to try to win the game as we always try to do that. It’s a difficult moment but at this moment I’m sure the good teams come out.”
Zola knows that West Ham United could have possibly won 2 of the last 3 games but lost to silly mistakes, but praised the excellent fast flowing passing skills of his players, he said :
“I feel really bad about this because it never happened to me that I saw a team playing that well and then not getting any points for three matches but I know that in football things can change quickly,”
he added:
“We just need a game to get it right and then everything will be better.
“It’s a good starting point to play well, results are a consequence. That’s my philosophy and I will pursue it.”
Zola will have to do without Cole in his strike force tonight, his options are limited, so this could be where we see Sears play a some part of tonight’s game.
It is possible for West Ham United to beat Man Utd, it surely will be a game Man Utd will be taking very seriously if they watched the video of West Ham v Arsenal last Sunday, I am pretty sure that Zola will want a win and prove that his tactics are paying off, but a draw will without doubt please many Hammers fans and upset many Man Utd fans.

What a Player! 150 Games for West Ham United and Improving
Oct 18, 2008 Hull City, West Ham News
Tomorrows game against Hull City marks the 150th game that Mathew Etherington will have played for West Ham United after joining the Hammers in 2003 from Spurs for an undisclosed fee.
We have seen a great improvement with Ethers under the influence of Gianfranco Zola and Steve Clarke and even to the point where many fans think Ethers is good enough for England.
Ethers is pretty certain to be included in the game against Hull City on Sunday and an early goal by the Hammers could be what ends Hull City’s magic start of the season and push West Ham into the top 3 or 4.
West Ham are only 2nd to Man City for Goals scored in the League which shows we have the players that can get the Goals.
My Prediction is Hull City 1 - 2 West Ham United

The Unsung Hero
Oct 16, 2008 Belarus v England, Mathew Upson, West Ham News
Mathew Upson’s contribution to Wednesday evenings England game against Belarus was nothing short of fantastic.
Upson was called the unsung hero by football pundits last night after making it Virtually impossible for the Belarus strikers to score, only once was the back-line breached when Pavel Sitko scored to level the game.
Terry Venables has great admiration for Upson and told Setanta Sports:
“I’m very pleased with Upson, It was a really difficult game to come into. These can be difficult games and Upson did well”
Recent rumours about a fire sale at West Ham in January predicting Upson to move to Spurs for a unrealistic sum of £5m are unfounded and has many Hammers fans finding some humour in what has been a stressful month.

Gartside has just made a laughing stock of Bolton
Oct 3, 2008 West Ham News
Phil Gartside is without doubt a very sad little character for claiming his teams defeat to West Ham in the 2006/07 season cost his club £700,000 in the end of league standing.
West Ham United will of course dispute this case and hopefully make the Bolton chairman look like the idiot that he is.
Phil Gartsides said:
“There is an argument to say we can claim three points from West Ham,”
“We went down there and lost 3-1, Tevez scored two and it cost us £700,000 because that was one place in the league.
“If Sheffield United are successful and get a claim then why shouldn’t we?”
Bolton finished 7th in the league that season with a total of 56 points and that is 2 points behind Everton, now lets take Tevez out of the picture, the score stands at 1-1!! which gives Bolton 1 extra point, still finishing in 7th place.
What grounds does this Idiot have for claiming 3 points.
I guess Bolton must need the publicity, it is just a shame they never get it from the games they play.
Sunday’s match against Bolton will prove the kind of silly damage he has caused his club with such a pathetic claim.

Fulham v West Ham United: Video highlights and Zola manager of the Month
Sep 28, 2008 Fulham, Gianfranco Zola, Steve Clarke, West Ham News
Zola could and should be the Manager of the month, 2 games 2 wins and has kept his promise of making football for the West Ham fans enjoyable and attractive.
It was good to see West Ham continue their winning ways under new manager Gianfranco Zola with victory over Fulham today.
Two goals in the final three minutes of the first half turned out to be decisive, with Carlton Cole and then Matthew Etherington finding the net.
There was still time for Fulham striker Andrew Johnson to be sent off before the half-time whistle was blown, but a great day for Cole rewarding Zola back for his midweek fine and Ethers showing Capello that in time he could be wearing an England shirt if his performance stays as good as it has been under the influence of Zola and Clarke.

Sheffield Utd: McCabe a man of Honour?
Sep 27, 2008 West Ham News
The very words that McCabe used whilst speaking to the Media before the FA arbitration decision was ” Its not about the money, its all about justice ” words that would be spoken by a man of great honour.
The FA arbitration panel found the case in favour of Sheff U, and the decision was made on the grounds that Tevez was responsible for at least 3 points in the final 3 games played in the season 06/07.
Obviously McCabe will be happy that the decision was found in his clubs favour, but he must have wanted the decision to be based on fact and not on something that our very own prediction panel could have mustered up.
The CAS rules state that an arbitration hearing has to be agreed to by both parties for a hearing to take place, so West Ham will challenge McCabe to 1 more arbitration panel by the CAS and by doing this, McCabe will prove to his clubs fans and media he is a man of honour, If West Ham lose then we should pay the £30m deficit lost by Sheff U, but if they lose then McCabe should call it a day and keep to his words “Its not about the Money, Its all about Justice”.

Superb!! West Ham Utd 3 - 1 Newcastle Utd
Sep 20, 2008 Newcastle
It has been such a long time since i enjoyed watching a performance as the West Ham squad gave today.
Di Michelle was outstanding and gave me flashbacks of DiCanio, He scored 2 goals and assisted in the 3rd and could have scored more.
Etherington was also at his best today scoring the 3rd goal, and for me is good enough for England now, all he needs is more games.
Cole is definitely getting better and better, rarely losing a ball in the Newcastle area and deserved to get on the score sheet today.
Noble, Parker, and the rest of the squad were outstanding and made passing look easy with superb accuracy.
Newcastle deserved their punishment today, Owen would be very wise to move to another club in January as his contract is nearly finished.
Overall a great show for the fans and Zola, it is what West Ham fans have been waiting for too long now, passion, exciting football, from a team missing its biggest players or are they?

WBA v West Ham - No XL Logo on Shirts Today
Sep 13, 2008 West Ham News
West Ham are to play in plain shirts until we find a new sponsor. West Ham have also said that all XL signs and banners in the stadium will be removed before next weeks game at home.
BG apologised to all concerned that have suffered with XL, i presume that includes us fans who have to wear the shirt at games with the XL logo on it.
According to reports we only recieved £2.5m of the promised £7.5m sponsor deal.
It remains unclear whether it is realistic to expect the club to have found a new sponsor for the next match - a home game against Newcastle United on September 20th - which will be new boss Gianfranco Zola’s first fixture in full charge of the first XI.
Lets hope we have found a new sponsor by then or at least put Bobby Moores charity on the shirts until we do.
