West Ham United V’s Everton (A Hole in Midfield)

Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Not quite the results West Ham deserved in their last 5 games considering how well the Hammers played, but unfortunately mistakes are made and points are lost, but the Hammers could turn it around by learning from mistakes and continue playing attacking football the Zola way, The return of Parker will be great news for the Hammers.

Everton is not part of West Ham’s difficult run of games. Everton are a good team though, Cahill and Arteta are doubtful for the West Ham game due to injury together with Fellaini will leave Everton’s midfield wide open, so West Ham definitely have a chance to keep it interesting. Everton will be playing with confidence after 2 x 1-0 wins. this match go either way.

Zola’s: Attack Plan v Arsenal

Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Gianfranco Zola’s West Ham United take on Arsenal in the Premier League at Upton Park on Sunday.

His plan to play offensive will not change, he said this about Arsene Wenger:

“He is one of the managers I admire the most … he is one of the managers I look up to. I like the way he manages the team and the way his team play. In England, Arsenal probably belongs to the top three or four teams and they are a very young team and can only get better and better and can achieve a lot.

“We are going to try to attack. If you sit and wait they will find a way to beat you anyway as they are very good. The danger can come from so many players. What teams like Arsenal don’t like is when someone tries to hit them back. We will try to play our game and see if they are better than us. Simple as that.”

The Hammers go into this clash with Arsenal hoping to get back to winning ways after defeat in their last two matches against Hull City and Bolton Wanderers. West Ham are currently 8th in the Premiership, but have not won since a 2-1 victory against Fulham at Craven Cottage in September.

Arsene Wenger’s team will go into this London derby full of confidence, having beaten Everton 3-1 last weekend at the Emirates Stadium and humbling Fenerbahce 5-2 in the Champions League on Tuesday. Wenger will want his side to come away with all three points in what has been a tricky tie for the Gunners in recent times.

Zola will be without striker Dean Ashton (trigonum syndrome) as well as defenders Jonathan Spector (thigh) and Danny Gabbidon (groin), with long-term absentee Kieron Dyer (broken leg) also to miss the visit of Arsenal.

Arsenal are set to welcome back defenders Kolo Toure and William Gallas, who have both recovered from injury, while Bacary Sagna (ankle) is not quite ready to return against the East London side. Eduardo (broken leg) and Tomas Rosicky (hamstring) are still on the side lines at the Emirates, though Eduardo should resume full training soon.

West Ham United:: (from) Green, Neill, Ilunga, Lopez, Parker, Bellamy, Cole, Boa Morte, Upson, Collins, Faubert, Behrami, Stokes, Walker, Lastuvka, Tristan, Davenport, Reid, Bowyer, Tomkins, Collison, Di Michele, Sears, Stech, Eyjolfsson, Hines, Jeffrey, Widdowson

Arsenal: (from) Almunia, Clichy, Gallas, Toure, Djourou, Fabregas, Walcott, Denilson, Diaby, Ramsey, Nasri, Adebayor, van Persie, Bendtner, Eboue, Vela, Wilshere, Song, Silvestre, Fabianski, Mannone, Bischoff, Coquelin, Gibbs, Hoyte, Lansbury, Merida, Ogogo, Randall, Simpson, Frimpong.

A game West Ham need to win at home or Zola may face some critiscism from the fans and press as West Ham will slowly slide futher down the league.

Here we go Again! The Magic Roundabout

Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

West Ham are on the verge of playing their 8th game and could be in 4th place by 5pm today.

Etherington plays his 150th game for the Hammers, and Mullins Plays his 200th game.

Some great headlines for the Red Tops to use for this weekend, but what headlines do they use?

HAMMERS RESCUE HITS TROUBLE - News of the World. Evidently West Ham have no idea who their owner is and maybe it is now the British government, The Sub Header reads:

A £125MILLION rescue of stricken West Ham is in danger of collapse because no one knows who now controls the teetering Upton Park club.

And this Headline.

£2.5m SPUR FOR PARKER - The People. Now this is the funniest, West Ham are so desperate for money that we will bend over backwards to accept an amazing sum of £2.5m from Spurs for Parker, The sub Header reads:

Tottenham are ready to take advantage of a West Ham ‘fire sale’ with a £2.5m bid for Scott Parker.

Believe me, even the Spurs fans will be laughing at that story.

Some facts for the Red Tops,

(1) West Ham are owned by WH Holdings, which is based in Britain and 100% a British company, this is a British Company and not Icelandic.

(2) West Ham have no intentions of selling players that are necessary to take the club to European status, Bonuses and awards for finishing in the top 6 far out weighs the measly sums made up for players transfers by the media.

Troubled we are? YES. Desperate we are? NO
At 5pm today you will definitely have a better story.

What a Player! 150 Games for West Ham United and Improving

Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Tomorrows game against Hull City marks the 150th game that Mathew Etherington will have played for West Ham United after joining the Hammers in 2003 from Spurs for an undisclosed fee.

We have seen a great improvement with Ethers under the influence of Gianfranco Zola and Steve Clarke and even to the point where many fans think Ethers is good enough for England.

Ethers is pretty certain to be included in the game against Hull City on Sunday and an early goal by the Hammers could be what ends Hull City’s magic start of the season and push West Ham into the top 3 or 4.

West Ham are only 2nd to Man City for Goals scored in the League which shows we have the players that can get the Goals.

My Prediction is Hull City 1 - 2 West Ham United

(PIC) Could this be West Ham United’s New owner by end of Month

Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

The Crowned Prince of Dubai -  His Highness Shaikh Hamdan could very well be the new owner of West Ham United by the end of October.

The boy faced Prince was on the verge of taking control of Charlton Athletic and at 1 point showed an interest at Liverpool, it is speculated that with the advice of Amanda Staveley from PCP Capital Partners, whom brokered the Man City deal and also represented DIC in the Liverpool negotiations that she advised the Prince that West Ham United would be a much better prospect than Charlton.

Time will tell if the reports are true, West Ham could find themselves the 2nd richest club in the World if a deal is to go ahead and Prince Hamdan takes control of the Hammers.

UPDATE

The Zabeel Investment group have recently denied the rumour that they were interested in taking over West Ham United.

As JackHammer said, Time will tell if the reports are true, and time did.

An ideal Replacement

Tags: , , , , , , ,

Gianfranco Zola has not given up hope on Diego Tristan playing permanently for West Ham, his trial with the Hammers has been extended with a view to prove Tristan’s fitness.

West Ham are looking for a replacement for Dean Ashton until Jan next year who is injured with an ankle injury.

Sheffield Utd has 24hrs

Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

West Ham have reversed the problems that Sheffield Utd gave the Hammers since the end of season 06/07.

It is now West Ham who are pushing for justice and have gone to the CAS to find it. The CAS have agreed a preliminary hearing to decide whether they will hear the appeal in full.

Sheffield Utd have been given 24hrs to provide and arbitrator for the hearing and if they fail to provide one then the CAS will appoint one.

West Ham have appointed an arbitrator for themselves who will provide a 12 page legal document that argues a case for West Ham and the ‘Right of Appeal’ to which they have not been given, and Sheffield Utd had twice over.

If all fails with the CAS then West Ham are seeking permission from Fifa to take the case to the High Courts.

Sheffield are claiming for a loss of earnings since their relegation for amount of £30m to £50m when the true cost of their loss is around £1.3m loss of profits as stated here.

Great News for The Hammers!

Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

There is no getting away from the fact that apart from our position in the Premier League September and October 2008 will be  months we will all want to forget.

Landsbanki Bank being taken over by the Icelandic Government in a bid to stop the economy spiralling into further turmoil, Sheffield United winning its arbitration hearing which could cost West Ham upto £30m.

The good news is that the CAS are willing to hold a hearing on the Tevez case originally only if Sheffield Utd agree and if they do not agree then the CAS will want specific reasons why not! in the mean time West Ham will audit the books of Sheffield Utd to find the exact validation of its loss in being relegated to the CCC

The other good news is that, the West Ham legal boffs are seeking possible permission from FIFA to take the case to the High Courts in a bid to reverse the decision of the FA arbitration panel with its findings that Tevez alone is the cause of Sheffield Utd’s relegation.

Mourinho wants success for West Ham United

Tags: , , , , , , , , , ,

Under the guiding eye of Steve Clarke, Jose Mourinho believes West Ham will be successful.

Jose believes that 1 day Steve Clarke should and could manage a team in the Premier League and said that at present Clarke is probably a better manager than most in the EPL.

Jose is also pleased that close friends Zola and Clarke have teamed up to manage West Ham and insists they are more like brothers than friends and that Clarke will share his experience from his days as 2nd in command to Mourinho, to Zola.

Mourinho said

“Of course, I’m not a West Ham fan, but with Steve having this responsibility there, I want them to succeed. Steve is a really top coach and a really top man.”

The future for once looks bright for the Hammers, with our New manager Zola and his experienced assistant Clarke that will take West Ham United to where they rightly belong.

Change of Luck for Newcastle?

Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

We at West Ham have sympathy for the Newcastle fans and wish them a speedy recovery from the disappointing behaviour of their owner Mr Ashley.

But whilst wishing the magpies well, we do hope their luck does not change for the better this weekend at the cost of West Ham losing a match.

Ashton will not be playing this Saturday and its 50/50 that even Bellamy could be out too, i can here the Geordie fans sighs of relief already, but could the new attacking West Ham under the guidance of Zola and Clarkey be too much for the magpies to handle? as it seems the Newcastle defence is easy to crumble under too much pressure.

West ham were much the better team last week for 70 minutes against WBA, but fatigue cost the Hammers the game in the last few minutes, Fatigue and fitness is something that Zola and Clarke have been working on with the team all week.

As much as we, the fans of West Ham United wish Newcastle the best of luck, we also hope your best luck starts on Sunday 21st.
