Sol Cambell wage demands too high for Hammers
West Ham’s supposed interest in Sol Cambell appears to be dead as his £35,000 a week wage demands are not willing to be met by the Hammers.
The former Spurs and Arsenal defender is available on a free transfer after his 4 month contract with Arsenal ended.
I for one would NOT be welcoming a move for Cambell, it was to my understanding the days of signing over the hill 30 somethings on outrageous signings was over? Perhaps a bid to lure Teddy Sheringham out of retirement is in order? Or maybe now hes out of a job it would be fitting to give Zola a £30,000 a week contract (although he’s probably still better than anything we’ve got!) i will personally hope that we make for intelligent bids for some of the young English players that play in our lower leagues as such a policy appears to no longer be the trend with top division clubs today.

Zola on Sears; justified confidence or just pragmatism?
GianFranco has indicated that Freddie Sears is likely to go out on loan next season. After an initially promising impact, Sears has really failed to impress in the bit part appearances he has made during the second half of the season.
He is a relatively slender framed 19 year old and has looked extremely fragile and one dimensional against even mediocre Premiership defenders (I recall him getting nothing at all out of the donkey-like Huth at Middlesborough in the cup replay, for example).
GFZ’s job is to sound encouraging and offer Sears his best hope of development but I wonder if he really is trying to convince himself when he says “we believe he is an important player for us in the future”.
I’d like to take that on face value but somehow I doubt it’s authenticity.

youthful talent with long term potential?
Don’t we matter anymore?
Anyone else sick of the pathetic coverage we get on MOTD? I would love to see the stats for the number of times we have featured at the end of the show, usually without any analysis and with scant or no regard for the progress we’ve made under Zola. Until Saturday we occupied 7th spot in the EPL – a probable European place. Now, on GD, that spot is occupied by Bruce’s unfashionable Wigan Athletic.
No mention of potential European football when we were in 7th by the so called experts. The minute Wigan get there, they start bigging up the ‘quiet’ methodology and ‘wonderful job’ that Mr Bruce has done.
This is not just paranoia, is it?
