Can you remember the first Match?
By Ian Salisbury
Can you remember the 1st time you saw WHU play live, for me it was at home to Aston Villa, September 1964. We won 3-1, can’t remember who scored, but I think Geoff Hurst did, but I was totally smitten, and since then I’ve stuck with them through thick and thin.
Like all kids I used to try to copy my hero, so I pretended I was Hurstie when I got home and played football with my mates, who did you try to emulate?
What are your memories?

West Ham Captain Lucas Neill: Man City come and get Me!
According to the Australian News Media & a Well known British Sunday Rag, Man City are to make a bid of £1.6m after a plea from the Hammers captain Lucas Neill.
West Ham are looking at ways to cut the extreme wage bill down, and Lucas Neill is one of the high wage earners with earnings of around £55k a week.
It is beleived that Curbishley is trying to comprimise with Lucas over a new wage agreement but with offers coming from clubs such as Galatasaray & Man City it may prove to be a mission just to keep Lucas at Upton Park.
Lucas Neill used to play under Mark Hughs at Blackburn and will have first hand knowledge of his old star player, so if the rumours turns out to be true, it could be Neill wearing a sky blue Man City kit instead of the Sky Blue Hammers away kit in the new season.

West Ham Trials were a big Plus for David Obua
The West Ham trials were a big plus for David Obua on Friday with our pre season training
schedule.
Kaizer Chiefs Defender/Midfielder arrived from Africa on Thursday on what most people thought was a trip to Hearts to join his old coach Laszlo Csaba, but it turned out he had an invitation to trials with the West Ham boys.
An unamed source from the West Ham camp said that Obua did well and was quite impressive.
Obua can play defence or midfield and had been linked to Croatia’s Dinamo Zagreb, Italian Serie B side Brescia, Orlando Pirates, and other sides from Sweden, Austria, Denmark, Italy, Tunisia and Egypt.
Obua said to the Media:
“As a professional, I have to weigh my options and make a decision. I have many offers, but I’m not about to rush,â€
Obua said
“One thing is for sure, I’m not returning to South Africa. I have nothing to prove in South Africa because I believe I’ve won everything as an individual. I need a new challenge that will only be realised in Europe.â€

A Gud Move!
Eidur Gudjohnsens agent has said that he would prefer a move to either Manchester or London.
Curbishley failed to get the fella the first time round, but with
the news of the iceman wanting one option to move to London, surely
this will raise Curbishleys hopes of getting him. And with Zamora on
his way soon, this rumour will hot up and become more realistic.
It’s all quiet at West Ham at the moment, yet despite this, it does
not mean something isn’t going on behind the scenes. I remember when
Faubert signed for us, it came from out of the blue.

Zamora,Pantsil: Fulham talks
It has been confirmed by West Ham that Fulham have made an approach for Zamora and Pantsil. The pai
r have been given permission to have talks with the club.
I’m not one for speculating, but if Zamora is to be allowed to go, this leaves us with Ashton and Bellamy in the frontline, with Cole and Sears on the bench. My point is, that should he go, does this mean the hammers have a striker lined up to replace him.
Regarding Pantsil, this could be another one who they just want to move on, but not sure about what else could be behind this. All I know is that if we let Zamora go, surely it’s with a replacemnt in mind. Because, and I mean no disrespect to Cole, he is not exactly goal scoring back up. Zamora is also a grafter on the pitch as is Cole, but both are not prolific up front. Young Freddy Sears will make more appearances, but is still getting use to the top flight.
So with the high chance of Zamora moving on, and Pantsil also, where does that leave us, especially in the striking department. We can’t just have the two main scorers in Ashton and Bellamy, we need solid back up.

I’ll sign with West ham if they want Me!!
Awe bless his cotton socks, French defender Sammy Traore has said that he would be glad to join the Hammers if Alan Curbishley gave him a call, but at 32, i doubt if Curbs will.
He is signed up with Paris Saint-Germain but currently is on loan to AJ Auxerre where he has trouble making the first team.
He recently said to French newspaper Le parisien: ”
I want to play in England. And in the top flight,”
he also said.
“That destination attracts me. The atmosphere there is unique. Truly, I see myself going and trying my luck there.
“In England there are plenty of scraps to get involved in and I really like physical battles. And I can get by in English.”
When asked if he had received offers from any Premier League clubs, he simply replied:
“Seeing as nothing is signed, there’s nothing to comment on.”
There was links to Sammy earlier on in the summer and the player said regarding these links:
“I would sign straight away if Alan Curbishley made him an offer”
well Sammy, its good to know you have great interest in joining the Hammers, but don’t hold your breathe waiting for Curbs to call you.

Italian Ace Link to West Ham is Media Invention!
Valon Behrami’s agent Alessandro Beltrami said that the player will not be moving
to West Ham.
“The truth is that I read the news in the press, but the West Ham link is pure invention,â€
told SetantaSports.com
“The player is on holiday and will be back this week to decide his future. No meetings are planned, but we have received offers from Germany, Spain and England as well. The player’s wish is to play in the Bundesliga. As a consequence, England is not a priority at all.â€
many rumours are pure speculation invented by the main media and tabloids to sell rags.

Curbishley shows Real Enthusiasm for Madrid Ace
West Ham still stock quite of few players that are due to be shown the back do
or, the likes of Danny Gabbidon, Anton Ferdinand, John Pantsil and Luis Boa Morte and now looks like Lucas Neill could be leaving the club giving Curbs around £12-15m to play with, Money that the Hammers boss would like to spend on Real Madrids Ruben de la Red after enquiring about his future.
Ruben was nurtured in the Santiago Bernabeu Academy from the age of 14 and went on to play Spains under 21’s and now the Spanish national team, he plays central midfield and is a perfect playmaker with the same qualities as Mascherano which is something West Ham need desperatley at the club.
Could West Ham go 1 better than their rival Spurs and sign Ruben de la Red? they will have to fight of the competition with the likes of Arsenal.

Talented young Strikers Dreams Hammered
Josip Tadic, a young guy who wanted to follow in the footsteps of his hero’s Slaven Billic and Igor
Stimac, whom both had played for West Ham. was told by the Dinamo Zagreb Sports Director that he isnt going anywhere.
Tadic admitted :
“It is true it would be an honour for me to move to such a great club,But everything I heard about my transfer to West Ham, I read it in the newspapers.”
Tadic also said:
“Nobody spoke to me about this.”
We all know now that West ham are looking for new blood and it would be great to sign a player like Josip, maybe, one day.

Stadium Talks come to an End
Much to the delight of myself and many West Ham fans, the talks between Tottenham
and West Ham regarding the Spurs sharing Upton Park whilst White Hart Lane is redeveloped has been come to a end, resulting in Spurs looking at MK Dons ground.
Spurs were also turned down by Wembley & Arsenal, The MK Dons have told Spurs they are willing to share their ground and Spurs have yet to give a reply, MK Dons ground has a capacity of 22,000 so it will be highly unlikely.
As for West Ham’s new Stadium or redevelopment, its a sure thing we are going to wait a few more years until we progress more towards European status and the economy picks up, I don’t know about the rest of the fans but i hope we go for the redevelopment route, as this would also help the existing community and business in the surrounding area, and also keep our tradition where it belongs, THE BOLEYN GROUND. Long Live the Hammers.
NB: And no that is not me on the bike in the image
After writing this post, i found a very interesting post here
